Dan A thought provoking film that tells a beautiful story about mental illnesses. Animal cruelty, hallucinations, stalking, abusive households, racism, homophobia, bullying are all tackled in this visually striking film. Lucas Cruikshank shines in this thriller, playing the mentally disturbed character of Fred. Throughout the film we see his struggles with his illness and his abusive father, played by the one and only John Cena. It is my belief that this film should have been nominated and won all of the major categories in the Oscars. The only reason i gave it nine, is because my favourite character, Derf, who comes and puts Fred's life in perspective, was sadly absent from the majority of the film. Would recommend to all audiences. Gammit its a fantastic movie
Jose Miguel Loreto I know what you're thinking, movies based on internet icons? If I wanted to make a film based on a meme, I'd simply do it with the style of Pixar or many other good film strategies. 1.Smosh the Movie seemed a bit of a fresh start, but I liked them better when they did YouTube videos.2.Angry Video Game Nerd the Movie was definitely not my cup of tea, I liked the AVGN as a web series, not a film. But Fred the Movie is possibly the worst out of all the films made by some YouTube celebrities. It doesn't capture the spirit of the original internet meme. We all know he wants to be with Judy, but just the idea of following her... Bro, that's so not cool. Kevin seems like his character seems a bit backwards. I mean he's still the same bully, but this not the kind of upgrade I would want to see. The only thing I found interesting is when John Cena was a part of this film. I'm sorry but putting a cameo of a wrestling star is not gonna safe your life. What's even worse, is that Fred keeps screaming. He never shuts up! There's never a silent moment where he can just chill out. And he the film didn't give us what Fred went through to get what he wants. Seriously Fred, Judy needs some personal space. All I'm saying that if you wanna make film based on an internet icon, that's fine, might be worth a shot. But do it like you were an expert in Storytelling. Lucas, you can't just make this film because you want to, you need a lot of effort into it, you need to follow the rules of storytelling. So, now to end this review. Don't watch the bad Fred Figglehorn, watch the real Fred Figglehorn on YouTube. P.S The sequels suck too, they're pointless.
epistrophy-1 The "Fred" schtick was maybe good for a one-time YouTube gag a long time ago. It was pathetic that Nickelodeon picked it up and ran with it. This film has no redeeming value whatsoever. It's like 90 minutes of fingernails on a blackboard. Lucas Cruikshank has got to be one of the least talented people to ever grace a screen, big or small. There's no plot worth having. There's no character development because there's nothing to develop. The few recognizable faces in the cast are wasted and should be ashamed for stooping to this level. When would have even John Cena thought this was a decent project to pursue? "Fred: The Movie" is unfunny, grating, and worthless for anyone beyond a three-year-old's mentality.
Red Death Clearly another example of how easily and quickly movie studios run out of ideas, it should come as no surprise that this movie is easily one of the worst this decade. Nothing here is funny, intentionally or otherwise.Honestly, I don't even know what to say to this. This movie is a colossal, boring failure of the imagination and a total misunderstanding of the purpose of humor. A 16 year old acting like a five year old on crack quite frankly wasn't funny to begin with and is never going to be. Was there any effort put into the script? Go read the quotes section, and the answer you will almost certainly come up with is no.Honestly, this was a painful experience that I could have avoided if I knew it had a whopping 0% on rotten tomatoes. But there was nothing else on TV that day that I was allowed to watch. I still get the sense that I would have been better off watching American Horror Story. In conclusion, there are absolutely no redeeming qualities whatsoever in this movie. But keep in mind that if you have it, this is not a movie that should be tossed aside lightly. It should be thrown with great force.
