rob Another disaster movie from the master of fantasy Dave Courtney. He was declared bankrupt in 2009 and with funding vanity projects like this it does not surprise me. or perhaps he is more clever than is given credit. he makes this film with a budget of £8.50 and tells the tax man that all the profits from his literary works of fiction are put into the film, when really they are hidden away in a shipping container with a Poundland padlock securing it, like Dave Bishop does in the film. this rubbish has a terrible narrative, wooden acting, unconvincing violence,no continuity (check out Bongs on Big Ben) and dubbed by 1970's spaghetti western sound men. If not made to intentionally loose money i believe this film was made to allow Courtney to carry on his fantasy life as nobody believes him in the real world anymore. Give it up Dave this is a crime against the art of film making.
markjtilbury I stuck with it even through a woeful opening scene. The story doesn't flow smoothly it could have had a good 20 minutes cut to make a more flowing narrative. I hate to single out an actor for a poor performance but Jamie Bannerman just didn't work. It seems like it was filmed by two crews and two directors because there were a lot of negatives but some positives including some talented actors who shone in-spite of the direction. Dave Courtney was Outstanding, Lucy Drive gave a believable performance though I know she is destined for a lot better. and Jerry Anderson despite this misnomer nothing wooden about him.I get the feeling a lot of effort is being put in by the producers into posting good reviews on here. Instead of which I would suggest a total re-edit and re release it as a directors cut. Spend the money. Dave Courtney's performance alone warrants that.
jacko1701 The camera work is pretty good, high quality in fact. The film looks very professionally shot, don't listen to people who say otherwise.Dave himself is on great form - Honestly he's worth the ticket price alone as aging but still formidable, charismatic psycho with a fondness for nine irons and hot, trophy wives.Nigel St Lewis who has no lines yet manages to absolutely terrify as mute, smiling psycho, particularly in the (probably best scene of the movie) set to 80's classic Je Taime... moi non plus. It draws parallels with Layer cakes ordinary world scene but blows that out of the water. You'll never listen to Serge Gainsbourg the same way again.Bad points - Many times the film felt very contrived. Bad writing both in terms of plot structure and dialogue. Some of the actors honestly were just reading the lines. At times it was bad it was jarring, to the point you just can't suspend your disbelief. There's a lot of things wrong with FEB - But you don't buy a fiesta and expect a Ferrari. It never pretends to be Oscar bait and damn it it is (sometimes unintentionally) fun. All I'm saying is that if you locked Dave and Nigel in a room with a decent Director, a good script and a budget then you'd really have a movie!
BurritoManno I'm going to start by saying I do like British cinema, okay, so maybe I'm biased here, and I REALLY like gangster films, so that's why I bought this one. And it's the best thing I've bought in months... Full English Breakfast was everything I wanted it to be. Compelling story that grabs hold of you and just won't let go, ass kicking violence and seriously cool moments that were both funny and freaky at the same time.Dave is a London style thug who gets a visit from a homeless dude who's found his missing wallet. Dave's impressed and before long there's a new kid on the block dressing sharp and hanging out with the wiseguys. Problem is he has the hots for Dave's girl, so they start sneaking around under Dave's nose, and before long things get way outta control. The accents are the most awesome thing! I still can't get Dave's catch phrases out my head - "you lie, you die" seriously addictive stuff!Great movie, love a bit of England, and especially so entertaining a watch. This one will keep you coming back for more.
