crackedhalo11 GIRLHOUSE comes from Canadian director John Knaut who was also behind the fun JACK BROOKS, MONSTER SLAYER (which features some amazing practical effects) and THE SHRINE). The result is a slick, stylish and suspenseful thriller that only once in awhile trips over itself when trying to make A STATEMENT. The interesting thing everyone here is generally likeable; none of the women are played out as TOTAL sluts (and there are even some attempts to defend their career choice) and the men aren't typical, sex-starved assholes. The killer (donning a genuinely creepy woman's mask that seems an homage to TOURIST TRAP) is a bit generic but his ruthless nature offers some nasty kills in the process. A solid recommend on this one!
Leofwine_draca GIRLHOUSE is a lame Canadian slasher set in the titular location, which is kind of a BIG BROTHER house for Internet voyeurs. The cast are a bunch of attractive young women who make their money by shooting webcam sex videos and living their lives in full view of the cameras, so there's plenty of racy nude and lingerie scenes mainly used as a backdrop for the main tale. The killer is one such voyeur, an overweight guy whose character is revealed through a well-done back story. Unfortunately the rest of the film is merely routine and boring, featuring characters being bumped off one by one by the masked maniac; the killers are quite bland as well and hardly anything to write home about. The script is derivative and none of the actresses has much of a chance to shine, which leads you to wonder what the point of it all is.
ddreamccast Opening sequence was good, set the scene, then turned into poop. massive plot wholes, he literally got away with murder/didn't get institutionalised/Was still able to get a job for with murder on his record? I dunno maybe I'm overthinking it, but then for the police to initially turn away from murder? What so there is no IT people working for the police now? None of the other 100's/1000's of watchers called the police? It's not really a plot whole but I'll have a moan about it anyway, the "security guards"? Really? A big fat leatherhead looking mf doesn't ring alarm bells instantly? No guns? No taper? might as well of given the job to the junkie she'd probably have been just as effective
Mia Gdowska BMus Hons An unexpected delightful and sad story to this decent flick. I enjoyed every minute of it. Not too generic. The acting and dialogue was decent. OK there were some technical discrepancies in the movie. i won't say. see if you can spot them! The gruesome deaths were, well gruesome ! My question is why did Loverboy lose it. Seems like it was building up over the years. He was taunted badly when he was younger. The beginning of the movie was a total shock and surprize. Very good beginning, middle and ending. The protagonist was hot and ballsy. The way the villain died was cult movie magic. gory and gory. I am so glad the characters weren't Hugh Heffner's play girls lol running round pillow fighting. The only flaw is there was a little back story about the villain. Watch this movie. You won't be disappointed. There was light comedy at start of the movie, but that will change very soon.......Be prepared!
