Reviews

liamhorsley Okay so I don't often feel inclined to write reviews for movies but this flick was unexpectedly great. It safe to say it has a bit for everyone beautiful cars, some very funny moments thanks to Randy (Tom Arnold) and a bit of a love to go along with it. I didn't know anything about this movie before watching it just randomly chose it but boy i am glad i did, definitely in my top 5 favorite movies and props to Dax Shepard who wrote the script. Definitely recommend this movie if you want some thrills and a bunch of laughs! also I was quite amused that Kristen Bells husband in real life played her ex boyfriend in the movie that's always a laugh to see.
Adam Foidart "Hit & Run" has its share of big laughs, but for every joke that works, there's another that doesn't. While the premise is interesting, it can't seem to decide if it wants to be a crazy mad-cap comedy or lean more towards the dramatic implications that someone in the witness protection might face and balance it out with some laughs. If you're a fan of fast cars though, the movie has some cool driving sequences and is more than happy to show off how fast and well the characters can drive. I didn't feel like the movie was even trying to appease my cinematic tastes, mostly because as far as I'm concerned, cars are only interesting if they're getting you from point A to B, or if they're turning into alien robots. I also didn't particularly care for the sex humour in the film, least of all the "joke" that is simply showing male genitalia and the recurring prison rape gags. I still had enough laughs that I didn't feel like I was wasting my time, and can see gear heads liking the movie more than I would, but it's still just an average movie. Fun for some, but the only people who will really remember this movie fondly are the actors. (theatrical cut on the big screen, August 14, 2012)
bowmanblue Hit and Run is written, directed and stars Dax Shepard as 'Charles Bronson' - a man who lives under the Witness Protection Scheme, but leaves his newfound identity to drive his girlfriend across America to get to an important job interview in Los Angeles. It's a road movie where he falls foul with just about everyone he comes to meet (and has met), leading them to chase him until the bitter end.If you read the other reviews, you'll find that people either love or hate the film. Some find it completely unfunny, while others describe it as the perfect (low-budget) date movie. I'm somewhere in the middle. I certainly didn't find it a classic. There were some funny moments, but they were too thin on the ground for the film to fall into an out and out comedy, plus Tom Arnold's character was just trying too hard to be whacky and just ended up being annoying. However, no matter how annoying his character was, he was easy to get along with compared to the leading lady. She came across as 'whiter than white' and way too preachy.A lot of people have pointed to its dialogue being 'too politically correct' and bashed the movie for being nothing more than 'liberal propaganda.' I didn't really pick up on this, but apparently it annoyed quite a few people. All in all, it's not a bad film. It has its funny moments and a few exciting chases. Bradley Cooper shines in every scene he's in (clearly enjoying playing something other than his 'good-boy' image), but he's not in it enough. It's not a bad way to spend an evening, although it could possibly be a little shorter, as it does tend to drag in the middle.
amanda scott This movie is inappropriate for basically anyone. It had pornographic comedy which had nothing to do with the storyline. Its storyline is basically that this guy has a hit on his head and has to leave town before a guy he rated out to the cops finds him, and of course he cant go talk to the marshals looking out for him. The movie is almost like the main characters who are boyfriend and girlfriend in real life decided they don't see each other enough lets make a movie together. The comedy is okay and if the movie would have been better written then it could have been a huge hit, and also have been rated pg-13. The movie is not even relatively realistic. If a girl found out that her boyfriend is in witness protection, and that there is a maniac and his girlfriend out to kill her boyfriend. she isn't ganna jump in the car and say go baby go.
