Synopsis

Little Red Riding Hood: A classic story, but there's more to every tale than meets the eye. Before you judge a book by its cover, you've got to flip through the pages. In the re-telling of this classic fable, the story begins at the end of the tale and winds its way back. Chief Grizzly and Detective Bill Stork investigate a domestic disturbance at Granny's cottage, involving a karate-kicking Red Riding Hood, a sarcastic wolf and an oafish Woodsman.

olivertherobot Little Red Riding Hood discovers that the Big Bad Wolf has disguised himself as Granny. Red's grandma jumps out of the closet tied up just as the axe-wielding woodsman bursts through the window, startling everyone. The police quickly arrive, and Red, Wolf, Granny, and the Woodsman are questioned by Detective Nicky Flippers about the events leading up to the incident.Red explains that she was delivering goodies for her grandmother when she discovered a threat from the mysterious Goodie Bandit. Hoping to save her Granny's recipes, she embarked upon a journey to take them to the top of a nearby mountain where her Granny lives. On her way, she encountered the Wolf, who asked her a series of suspicious questions. She managed to escape and eventually reached her Granny's house; however, she found the Wolf already waiting in ambush. What at first seems to be an open-and-shut case becomes confused though, once it is learned that the Wolf is an investigative reporter. He reveals that he was searching for a lead on the identity of the Goody Bandit and had reason to believe that Red and Granny were the culprits. Locating Red, he questioned her, hoping to get to the bottom of the mystery. When Red escaped, he headed for her Granny's house and arriving first, went undercover, hoping to trick her into giving him the evidence he needed. Open Season Is Better, This Film Sucks!
view_and_review Today was one of those hot days in which all outdoor activities besides swimming would be uncomfortable. So, it was a time to lounge in front of the fan and have a movie marathon. Of course that movie marathon included my seven-year-old so the movie selection is limited.I saw the title Hoodwinked! and something registered in the back of my brain. It was much like seeing a familiar face from your past but you can't quite place it. I knew the title sounded and looked familiar but I didn't know why. Did I have intentions of watching this before or was this on my "do not watch list"? Without knowing exactly why I proceeded to play the movie. I played the movie based off of that small inclination and was I ever glad I did. This movie is clever and hilarious. The animation would lead you to believe that it is perhaps for 5 year-olds and younger but the writing and the humor definitely belies that.It is clear that the movie is a witty take on the Little Red Riding Hood story. All the recipes throughout the forest are being stolen thereby driving the creatures of the forest out of business. The police have four suspects in custody: Red Puckett (Anne Hathaway), Grandma (Glenn Close), the Wolf (Patrick Warburton), and Kirk the Woodsman (Jim Belushi). Each has their own story as to why they've curiously come together at Granny's house in very peculiar fashions. This movie had a brilliant story, great writing with some hilarious scenes. I thought the lines were great and were delivered expertly. I just saw that there is a Hoodwinked Too. I must find that movie now.
Davis P Hoodwinked! takes after Shrek. It's one of the earliest examples of digital computer animation. I will say that the animation kind of leaves you lacking, the look to the animation just isn't up to par in my opinion. But honestly that isn't the biggest most important thing here, it's definitely not the number one priority. The things that are more important is the writing, voicing of the characters, the wit and the entertainment value. The animation isn't atrocious, it's just you shouldn't go into this movie expecting like Pixar level animation. The entertainment value in this film is up to a high degree. It's pretty fast paced and it's about 1 hour and 20 minutes long. That runtime is perfect, it isn't too long or too slow. The characters are well developed, well, they're developed enough. The actors that voice the characters are well casted and they are each a good fit for their roles. The plot is told from different characters perspectives. The police interrogates the characters in order to get to the bottom of a crime and each characters vantage point brings a little something new to the story. Glenn Close voices Granny Pucket very well, couldn't have been a better choice for granny. Anne Hathaway was a very good fit to play Red. The writing is witty and clever and very funny at certain times. I think this is great choice for family viewing, it's not one of those run of the mill weak children's films, it's more cleverly written than that. 8/10 for Hoodwinked! Highly suggested.
TheBlueHairedLawyer Hoodwinked is a modern adaptation of the children's story "Little Red Riding Hood". Right into the first five minutes you can tell that this will be a dorky movie, but my god, this was terrible! And yes, I know it's a kid's movie, but was in grade seven, my sister in grade 5 and my brother in grade 1 when we all saw it, and we HATED it.Okay, where to begin? The bad singing got me the most, especially from the character of Red Puckett (Red Riding Hood) herself. The plot itself is as cheesy and dopey as a Precious Moments song. "Goody Bandit"? "Detective Nicky Flippers?" Do the animators think kids are morons, mindless zombies who will watch anything? And the horribly-scripted lines such as the grandmother's, "What up, my homies?" What the hell? I don't get it, was this movie supposed to be funny? Because it sure wasn't! I wouldn't watch it again unless you payed me, it was terrible!
