Rocketeer_Raccoon Haha, I just couldn't help myself but think how of a resemblance the armoured suits that the alien characters wear make them look like Boba Fett from Star Wars.OK, I'll put all joking aside now, well it's not a bad sci-fi film but it's just really average, from the looks of it all there wasn't a lot of effort put into this film. There was very little action in it and the ending is lacking. As for the story I can just make out what it's all about and overall I think the film could have done with more fine-tuning to make it a more worthwhile film.
Phil Hubbs If you can find this I highly recommend it as its a great low budget sci-fi flick in the same realms as 'Enemy Mine'. The plot is almost the same as 'Enemy Mine' accept the two races don't make friends and the alien race is introduced as the hero element, where as the human, in a neat little twist, is introduced as the creature (you don't realise he's human at first) on the run and becomes the enemy...almost. Depending how you look at it.The thing that impresses about this film is the really nice makeup work on the alien masks and the costume. Prop work isn't that original looking (think 'Predator' armour mixed with a Clone Trooper from 'AotC') but it looks good set against the clear blue skies and yellow/orange rocky desert of the planet its all based on. The musical score is also pretty good, almost too good for a small film like this which was another surprise. Cast wise there are no big names but the acting is perfectly fine with some solid stunt work throughout. You must be a total sci-fi fan to enjoy this on its numerous levels, its not a fast action packed flick and its not filled with cheap looking CGI. Its actually very well made simply because the director has tried to focus the film with good characters and a good story, without the help of lots of money which can corrupt a persons way of thinking. His film was obviously made with lots of love and attention to make it as real as possible and not to rely on CGI. Think of a really good episode of Star Trek, only down side is the ending is left open which could lead to a poor sequel, or we may never know what happens if they don't make further movies.9/10
smod-mail Straight away: The best one could do with a sci-fi alien based plot in a budget like that!Visually, it is a masterpiece, well shot and the CGI (whatever little there is and make up is so very very good! It is more of a single act play in many ways. I haven't much to say except we all have seen much much much worse movies made on very inflated budgets. This is the kind of work all movie makers need to be doing. Watch it in HD or superHD, its worth it.The plot is quite simple yet very well executed and the cinematography does so much justice to the whole premise, that you can hardly take your eyes away. Sci-Fi channels, this is definitely the kind of work you should be doing! What is budget in the face of talent? If any one is interested, this movie is currently on NETFLIX in superHD.
Greekguy To all of those who convinced me to see this particular example of the sci-fi genre that I love, I curse you. Indeed, I hope that you never find good sleep, al dente farfala or a real fashion bargain. I mean, what were you thinking? There were, for instance, reviews that mentioned character-driven narratives and other reviews that mentioned Star Wars. What none of these reviews, or comments from those that I read prior to purchasing these DVD, was that this film did not work. On any level! To understand what I'm saying, you must understand that I really like bad films, I thrill to controversial films, and I adore good films. This is none of them. What kind of film is this? This is a film devoid of believable action, and yet not worthy of that bad-film endorsement that films by Ed Wood, Michel Carreras, Arthur Seidelman and others get. In short, this is a terrible example of middle-of-the-road effort, sub-par performances, and mundane play-acting that deserves no credit as a howler and no endorsement as a genuine effort in its field. In fact, this film does a disservice to other films that might try to win our affections for an outlandish but exciting story. Booh to it,and booh, too, to those who who praise it.Let's see what we're talking about. Can you make it through the first twenty minutes? Really? Without being a personal friend of the "actors" on the screen? I think not. All in all, not a golden moment for Sci-fi. Despite what anyone will tell you, this one should have been bricked on the head.
