huggibear I thought this movie was just silly. I've seen Melissa McCarthy in Bridesmaids and this doesn't even come close. It was barely watchable. I also think Steve Carell could have been a better 'Male Sandy Patterson' than Jason Bateman, but I like Steve Carell's movies. He would have fit in well as Melissa McCarthy's counterpart in this movie. Anyway, obviously this is just my take. This could have been much better. Melissa McCarthy is a funny actress and she's better than these roles she has chosen lately. I haven't seen them all though. Either way, it had nice bittersweet ending and that's what made this movie worthy my time.
lisafordeay I caught this on TV a few nights ago and the movie stars Zootopia's Jason Bateman as a man who's identity is stolen by a con artist played by Melissa McCartney from Bridesmaids. Together the two go off on a trip together as Robert Patrick's charcther and two other people are after McCartney. So will she get off the hook? The film is funny and the story has been done to death but if you are a fan of the actors than check it out.Parts of it had me laughing out loud and Bateman and McCartney had great chemistry together and the humor is rude but its very funny.6/10
keithlovesmovies Diana (Melissa McCarthy) has a pretty lavish lifestyle. She can buy whatever she wants, whenever she wants and it's all free, thanks to Sandy Patterson (Jason Bateman), a man from Denver whose identity she has stolen. Now with just one week to track her down before his whole world is destroyed, Sandy must head down south to confront her and bring her back to Denver so he can clear his name and restore his life.Based on who is in this film (Bateman and McCarthy), I thought this movie was going to be a lot funnier than it actually was. The jokes in this one were rather hit or miss with mostly misses. Most of the comedy here is McCarthy being a big, obnoxious, clumsy woman like in most of her films and Bateman is a normal guy in a weird situation or a fish-out-of-water type like in a lot of his films. So you've seen this before from each of them. What didn't fit for me was how they tried to humanize McCarthy's character, it just doesn't feel earned. I wish set-up which could have been a little longer because I enjoyed the few scenes near the beginning where Diana starts to take advantage of the identity she stole. After that, it's just an average, predictable road trip film.Score: 6/10 keithlovesmovies.com
ggmcheartagram I expected this to be pretty bad as i hadn't seen a lot of good reviews for it, I don't really understand why... Fair enough it wasn't hilarious and the best comedy moments were probably in the trailer but this film is so much more than a comedy. It had so much heart and at the end i even got teary. The friendship that i saw developing was very heartwarming and even though Diana/Melissa started off as a terrible person responsible for potentially destroying Sandy's life, i felt so sorry for her when i found out she was filling her life with meaningless possessions just to fill her empty life. I enjoyed everyone's performances in this movie especially Melissa's. So don't just listen to the negative reviews that are around and give this film a fair chance, i certainly don't regret it.
