Synopsis

The film is about the difficult situation in which the Pakistanis in particular and the Muslims in general are caught up since 9/11. There is a war going on between the Fundamentalists and the Liberal Muslims. This situation is creating a drift not only between the Western world and the Muslims, but also within the Muslims. The educated and modern Muslims are in a difficult situation because of their approach towards life and their western attire. They are criticized and harassed by the fundamentalists and on the other hand the Western world sees them as potential suspects of terrorism just because of their Muslim names.

pradeep nayak I saw first pakistani movie and it was good. The strong point of the film khuda ke liye was the story.Im not expected such a film made in Pakistan.Hats off to Shoaib Mansoor the director and writer of the film, he really make a good job.The film is telling real story of Pakistan. The weak point of the film was the acting except Naseeruddin Shah(Moulana Wali) and Shaan(Mansoor) all other actors were ordinary. I does not like the songs.I hope much like this more will be come from Pakistan 7/10
aishblueeyes Muslims did not hate USA. Awesome Movie for Muslims and Non Muslims. Before watching this movie I thought its boring movie. But I was wrong because there is a lesson for Muslims and Non Muslims. Every Muslim is not a terrorist. People make the terrorist just like American govt. They catch the wrong people and beat them. Even that every citizen of America says that this is ridiculous. Muslims did not hate USA. Islam protects us to the evil. Every man has its own rights in any religion. Shan and other actors did work well. This film is not against American people but against American government policy and injustice. I am thankful to Shoaib Mansoor who took this great idea for Muslims and Non Muslims.
zain raza It is the best Pakistani film i have ever seen in my whole life. I must be honest and say that i do not watch too many Pakistani films because of the Gujjar and Ghantasa culture in films. The industry has been ruined since those films have been releasing. It was in the 1970s when Pakistani and Indian films were at the same standard, but now the Bollywood films have reached at a level when they are releasing great films by copying Hollywood blockbusters, the Lollywood industry is still at the new culture (SORRY TO SAY) given to it by the Punjabi film makers who prefer Gujjars rather than Modern cinema like this. The film was brilliant in all the aspects it could be, from acting, dialogues, screenplay to the direction and cinematography. The topic was really sensitive and was handled tremendously by the Pakistani SHOMAN (SHOAIB MANSOOR). The way he wrote and directed the film told that Pakistani industry can't only reach the level of Bollywood, but can also make films way better than Bollywood. The story is also inspired in the film called NEW YORK. The film showed two topic, one was Extremism in Pakistan and the other one was the way Americans reacted post 9/11. Both the topics were shown in an engaging manner and kind of connected to each other. The way shoman showed the Maulana and the White officer was shocking, the last and the most controversial part by Naseer Uddin Shah was an eye opener and changed the perspectives of many Muslims around the world. The Ratings: SHOAIB'S Direction was mind blowing: 10/10 Shoaib Mansoor's dialogues were eye openers: 100/10 Story was original and not a rip off: 10/10 Shaan's acting was wonderful and showed he is no less than a bollywood actor: 10/10 Iman Ali did her job well but overacted in parts: 8/10 Fawad is a new discovery and did good: 9/10 Cinematography was really good: 10/10 Music was excellent (TILUK KAMOD & DUNYA HO WERE GREAT): 10/10 Background Score was just okay: 8/10 Editing could have been better: 9/10 BUT MOST OF ALL SHOAIB MANSOOR SHOWED THAT HE IS THE FINEST IN Pakistan AND CAN EASILY COMPETE ANY BOLLYWOOD PRODUCER OR DIRECTOR WHO ARE ALWAYS LOOKING FOR AN English FILM TO COPY (HAHA LOSERS).SHAAN WAS WAY BETTER THAN ANY BOLLYWOOD ACTOR AND COPIED NO ONE. THE STORY WAS ORIGINAL AND WAS NOT A RIP OFF OF A Hollywood MOVIE. IT DESERVES ALL STARS AND NEEDS TO WIN ALL AWARDS IT CAN! A MUST WATCH FOR ANYONE, IF YOU HAVEN'T WATCHED IT GO NOW!!!
Mike B There's a lot going on in this movie - it takes in a broad swath of events and issues. Here are some of them – the banning of music, forced marriage, the Taliban, incarceration and torture in post 9/11 U.S.A., religious indoctrination and stupidity…This movie gets an 'A' for effort; it does keep you watching and it probes well into a lot of issues.A French magazine recently had as its' headline that Pakistan was the most dangerous country on the planet. This is borne out in this movie – you know your country is in serious trouble when religious zealots are forcing conversations in the courtrooms of the nation about whether music should be permissible and if a beard is a requirement for religious devotion. The demonization of religion is well brought out in this movie – the religious imam is well portrayed. One can see how these characters can prey on young men and indoctrinate them into their cult. But the dialogue, at times, is pretty pedestrian and 2 of the women are real dolts. There is the live-in girlfriend of the Pakistani man in London and a Chicago blonde. One son of a family in Lahore is converted into Islamic fundamentalism. He abandons his musical career because he is led to believe by the religious zealots that music is un-Islamic. He goes to Afghanistan where he enters a forced marriage with a Muslim woman from London. The life in Afghanistan for the women looks a little too rosy and happy. I think it would be far more repressive, particularly for women, than is presented in this film. Also the Pakistani family in Lahore is very well off - there is no show of poverty, like in the film 'Slumdog Millionaire'.The other son of the Lahore family pursues his musical career and winds up in Chicago and marries a dumb Chicago blonde. For this he is tortured relentlessly by the cronies of George Bush. No, really it's because he is a victim of his ethnic origins and the Yanks think he is a Bin Laden accomplice. It's a good thing for him that they don't discover that his brother is a religious jihadist in Afghanistan. The ending is a little too far-fetched. After the London Muslim woman's forced marriage is annulled (and even that was dubious after all the religious claptrap in the courts) she goes back to Afghanistan instead of London. Why she would risk her life going back to a clay compound where she would surely be physically abused for her insolent ways is beyond me. And then her ex-husband returns to the Imams who physically beat him in the court-room. Surely he would be risking his neck by doing so. Instead, such a person, who afoul of the religious fanatics, would have to go into seclusion. And I REALLY enjoyed the music in this film!
