Prismark10 Kid Cannabis is loosely based on the true tale of Nate Norman (Jonathan Daniel Brown) as a chubby high school dropout and pizza delivery boy who with his best stoner buddy Topher (Kenny Wormald) and gang of potheads started a marijuana smuggling operation from Canada, cock a snook to an arrogant rival and soon build a multi million dollar business which leads to debauchery and partying too hard.Like an even more nerdy version of Blow with ineptness such as the boys getting searched each time they try to get into Canada or getting lost as they try to trek through the woods to get back over the border with their illicit goods.Things get darker as the excesses take their toll, the police home in on them and the loyalties of the gang are tested. This is a low budget film which works better as a dark comedy with notable supporting performances by Ron Perlman and John C McGinley. It is just too convenient that they find an extraordinary weed grower in Canada and a special buyer in the USA.
Mike Alessandra (s0817546) I originally played this movie late at night so that I could fall asleep to it. However, once the beginning credits started to play, I could not keep my eyes off the screen as my attention was caught early and stayed strong all the way through. It shows the meteoric rise of a 18 year old high school drop out to a massive drug hauling king pin.I realize that some people will be quick to pass up this movie as some 'stoner flick' not worth watching but there is so much more to this movie than meets the eye. The film has a little bit of everything including strong dialogue, relatable characters, and quite a few laughs in between. The characters are believable and likable and all parts are played satisfactorily. The ending wrapped everything up nicely and answered all questions that have been in viewers' minds while watching.Overall, solid movie indeed. It may not have the most depth in terms of story, but nonetheless it was a very entertaining movie. 7/10
Keven Bigelow I personally thought this movie was amazing. Of course it has some Hollywood exaggerations but what movie doesn't? I personally don't smoke myself but found this movie very entertaining and well written. I recommended watching this movie and the fact that it is based on a true story makes it that much better. I love the actors in this movie. Other reviews state that the movie wasn't funny but it wasn't meant to be a comedy..... Although there is a few parts that made me laugh. It's a great story and a great documentary. I feel the other reviewers were really hard on this movie and I don't understand why but everyone is entitled to their own opinion. I recommend this movie 100%. Even I wasn't sure about it based on its title but it surprised me and I'm glad I gave it a chance.
Barry P Comedies about pot are getting so stale nowadays and this doesn't bring anything original to the genre. I'll laugh if there's reason to but the writer of this movies tries way way way too hard to get a laugh which takes me out of it. I don't want to add spoilers (wont really matter for this movie but still wont) but the laughs are so few far and between, as if this is for people who are high and will laugh at anything. There might be a moment or two but this is yet another rehashed version of the 100's of stoner movie i watched over last decade and offers nothing different. I just wished the writer was more talented and worked on his comedic substance and timing a little better. If you are paralyzed, watch TV all day and have watched everything else on Netflix, then I guess I can kind of recommend. Just don't watch if you have to pay for it or have a life.
