johnwillis49 The straight forward story of a kidnapping is brilliantly executed with great cinematography and incredible performances. This movie, most would agree, is not a horror movie in the traditional sense. There are no monsters, zombies, vampires, werewolves, ghosts, psycho killers, haunted house, or dumb twist. That said it is horrific in how utterly real it all feels. The performances are spot on. True it is dubbed and probably not true to the original Spanish lines the characters would deliver but there really isn't any bit of the movie that cannot be understood without dialogue. The performances are that strong. This movie is really what you see is what you get. And what you see are some of the most intense character examinations put on film. Something happens to the characters and they react accordingly. The thing I hate about some horror movies are the stupid and unbelievable actions of some of the characters, especially the victims. But here every character was believable throughout. The nervous father who doesn't know whats happening to his family but eventually has had enough. The scuzzy, and twisted thief who delightfully terrorizes the mother and daughter who are scared shitless but not helpless. The thief who really isn't cut out for a crime this brutal. And the ringleader thief who tries to be calm and acts like he has nothing to lose only to find out later that he actually doesn't and descends into chaos. They are all brilliant characters. The very long shots and sometimes slightly shaky camera (something I usually hate but was really tastefully done here) really bring the tension of the scene and the actors performances to life.Their performances are even more incredible when you take into account that this film only has 12 different camera shots. 12, and 4 of those shots are actually shown split screen style with a paired shot so over the course of an 84 minute movie there are only 10 cuts to a different camera angle. Thats over 8 minutes, on average, per shot. The acting in each of these long shots is amazing as well as the cinematography of these individual shots which track around the house to follow characters at points and stop on certain things deliberately at some points while the chaos in the background is still visible. I LOVED THE CINEMATOGRAPHY. Very unique. The cinematography and incredible performances are what make this move great. Ben Larson The description indicates that it will be a more violent version of Michael Haneke's Funny Games. It will certainly be more interesting with Manuela Vellés. One thing is certain, director Miguel Ángel Vivas does not waste time with games. The three invaders come blasting in and action starts immediately. This is definitely a violent movie. Slicing, dicing, shooting, rape, and extreme terror. It did not, however rise to the level of movies I have seen in the past. It didn't move smoothly. It seemed liked the scenes were not connected. The ending was expected.
ma-cortes Tension, suspense, and unsettling scenes when a family is harassed by some dangerous criminals . Three hooded Eastern-European delinquents burst into a gated community home on the outskirts of Madrid , and forcing the father to empty his credit cards. This exciting movie deals about Jaime (Fernando Cayo of ¨23F¨) and Marta (Ana Wagener), a mature marriage with a daughter (Manuela Velles of ¨Caotica Ana¨ by Julio Medem) who holds her usual youth problems . At home they are trapped and locked by an ominous band (Barrientos , Biba, Kupier) . The family is besieged and terrorized by the psycho-killer attackers and then look for some means to getaway .This spooky picture about some criminals holding the family hostage in its own home contains terror, shocks, suspense, grisly killings and numerous creepy scenes . The film packs terrifying and hair-raising frames and lots of blood and gore . This violent story is filmed in similar naturalist and realist style to ¨Michael Hanake's Funny Games¨, ¨Henry, portrait of a killer¨ , directed by James McNaughton and ¨Rec¨ by Jaume Balaguero and Paco Plaza . Shot in 12 takes with camera over shoulder and Steadicam , including splitting screen . While the look is suitable eerie and frightening, the argument spreads to the breaking point and the ending turns out to be a little frustrating . Suspenseful and thrilling musical score by Sergio Moure (Unconscious). Dark and shaded cinematography by Pedro Marquez , shot in Las Rozas , Madrid. The motion picture is strangely directed by Miguel Angel Vivas , an expert on rare atmosphere as he also proved in ¨Reflejos(2002)¨ with George Corraface , Ana Fernandez and Emilio Gutierrez Caba . It's a strong film and quite a big impact, gaining several prizes as ¨Austin Fantastic Festival¨ won Horror Jury Prize Best Director Miguel Ángel Vivas and Best Horror Feature ; ¨Bogota Film Festival¨, Nominated Golden Precolumbian Circle Best Film Miguel Ángel Vivas and ¨Camerimage¨ prizes . In spite of its violence ¨Kidnapped¨ or ¨Secuestrados¨ achieved undoubted success and important reputation .
HumanoidOfFlesh "Kidnapped" packs one hell of a punch.A Spanish couple and their teenage daughter move to a new house. But during the night all hell breaks loose as the family of three is taken hostage by three masked men.The climax ends in nihilistic bloodshed."Kidnapped" contains twelve scenes and plenty of suspense. In fact as the movie progresses the tension becomes almost unbearable and the violence becomes more ugly and hard-hitting.I must say that since James Watkins "Eden Lake" I haven't seen such vicious and harsh full-length horror debut. The camera work is phenomenal as is the acting,so kudos should go to its director Miguel Angel Vivas. If you liked "Eden Lake","Martyrs","The Strangers","Cherry Tree Lane","Inside" or "A Serbian Movie" check out this savage assault on the viewer's mind.10 kidnappers out of 10.
