Selsa Namno A very clumsily executed 'horror-comedy' film that is utterly painful to watch. It seriously irks me that pretension has grasped IMDb so strongly that tosh such as this can garner a wholly misrepresentative score. It plays out like a half-baked amateur theatre production and the acting is cringe-worthingly embarrassing to bear witness to at times, which is to say that it's largely awkward and laboured. None of it ties together particularly well at all and you will sit in head-shaking dismay at parts (For example, the nazi-demon song - seriously?) I had to force myself to watch the entire length of this rubbish, I wouldn't recommend doing the same yourself. Unless, of course, you're one of these types that actually enjoy feigning over art house crap.
gigan-92 A+ Thru the wonder of Netflix, I saw this glorious film. I know some say the film industry is dead these days, though it's highly debatable, but this film is a living testament that just isn't so. Obviously done on a relatively small budget, the film will upset those expecting a large extravagant production scale. No, this film is shot like a play actually, which makes for some interesting and creative cinematography. The majority of the movie takes place in a darkened room; the only things that can be seen are the two main characters who are illuminated by spot lights. The exchange of dialogue is comedic and also well written. Lo, the titular demon, is played extremely well by Jeremiah Birkett , and I mean extremely well. And Ward Roberts is also damn good. The demon Geez (Devin Barry) is a great character and some question the acting of Sarah Lassez but I found her very enjoyable. Oh, and did I mention there are some great musical numbers in this one? Yeah, so it's a horror-comedy-musical with a dash of mystery. With some very nice writing to boot, very nice, I can recommend the film to anyone with an appreciation for the unusual.
ambercederman What a fascinating movie. That's really the best way to describe it: fascinating. There is something about Lo that is strangely intriguing. It's hard to explain. The plot is very simply. A young man named Justin is in love with a woman who is unexpectedly taken away by a demon. Justin summons a different Demon by the name of Lo in hopes of getting his girl back. This plot develops into a complex but very intriguing narrative with great acting and costumes, despite it's low budget. (The whole film takes place in one room). It's hard to explain, but there was something about Lo that I really loved. I guess it's the way that this movie really cared about it's characters. The characters were deep and well written. Really great movie.
Anitasusana As a fan of Travis Betz' work, I came into this project ready to fall in love with it. I was surprised with how on the fence I ended up becoming.Lo's story line is intriguing, but the film itself has a few faults. Much of the acting (save for Brickett's Demon Lo) is miles over the top. Its almost painful to watch at points as Character Justin (played by Ward Roberts) gives facial expression that are probably not even natural for the stage. The musical numbers (it is a musical comedy, after all) are also difficult to swallow: they don't really push the plot along and they're jarring for the viewer. What does end up bringing this story together is the third act. The final half hour of the movie flows together beautifully, and makes up for the faults of the first hour. Its an easy watch, but one that you probably won't pick up a second time.
