traciefountain Much has already been written about this film. The only thing I have to add is how disappointed I am that the screenplay strayed so very, very far from the book. The movie while wholesome and entertaining could have been much better had it stuck to the original story. The thing I liked least? The three bad guys who were never in the book and how a very pregnant Missy overtook one of them. COME ON! I will not recommend this movie. I'm so sorry. I really am. I tuned in hoping to see Janet Okes story come to life. I am so disappointed. This was my favorite book in the series. I wanted to see the wagon train and all the things that happened along the way. I wanted to see the sod house. I wanted to see more of the town where Willie left Missy to have her baby. And has anyone figured out just how long this girl was pregnant? For like a year at least. Why was cookie portrayed like some stereotypical old black guy? Not how I saw him at all. I am going to the library at church tomorrow and I'm going to have to re-read my beloved stories to get this pooey old movie version out of my head.
hannabby This was a wonderful movie. Great for the whole family to watch. There are some bloopers to note though. Jeff, receives a letter from his older brother Sonny. He is all excited and tells Missy about it. She asks what it says and he says he doesn't know. So she reads it to him because he can't read. But then in the very next scene Willie has invited him to Christmas dinner and Missy asks Jeff to pass out the gifts. Jeff reads each name out loud in an educated voice and passes out the gifts. For someone who can't read, he does a good job of it. He doesn't stumble over the names or anything. Another blooper is when the tree is being decorated. One can tell the tree is absolutely fake. Notice the top of the tree. When the tree is being brought in, it is a real tree, but when it is being decorated it is fake. Another blooper is when Missy is having her baby and Miriam is attending her. Miriam comes to the door to tell Will he has a son. Will walks in and Miriam is bending over Missy, where she was just standing beside him at the door.
jayne61385 I was quite disappointed in this movie. Watching it, the acting felt wooden and the dialogue was weak. It became predictable from the beginning to the end, and irritating that they could murder the original story so much. I also find it annoying that the actress playing Missy was different. I did like the first installment, though it strayed from the book - it did stay true in the sense of the meaning of the plot. The sequel seemed chopped up from several novels and spliced together. It was okay, but not as good as the first. The third had a lot of inconsistencies - one example. In the first movie, Missy helps her father with the farm work, but she can also cook a little. In the second, she could cook (she tempted Willie with her cooking), yet she couldn't do the farm work very well. In the third one, she couldn't cook anymore (she apparently forgot how to), and she told someone she grew up helping her father. Another nitpick is that it was supposed to be winter - yet there's no snow and they never get any.
tlgah I Loved this movie! it was a great movie and I think that you would enjoy it tremendously, Logan Bartholomew/Willie and Erin Cotrell/Missie does an excellent job in this movie and it's very entertaining to watch and has a western edge of your seat feel to it! and a very good message throughout the movie and at the end, a movie you can actually sit down and watch as a family and not worry about it's content! :) Michael Landon Jr. did a great job! and I'm a big fan of Jannete Oke's books anyway and to see them come alive on screen it's amazing! I sure hope they follow with the books and do more movies, cause there sure are more books to be transformed into movies! :) I recommend this movie highly! and recommend the books in the series as well! As Missie says "for everything there is a season, a time for every purpose under heaven"
