adonis98-743-186503 MacGruber feels like a SNL Parody packed with bad action and comedy but also with a good cast going completely wasted into the hands of a bad script that surrounds them and their characters and makes for a disappointing film. Plus the cameos from the WWE wrestlers and their roles that go wasted makes it even worse. (0/10)
Searsino MacGruber originated as a popular SNL sketch which I never found that funny. So it took a while to convince myself that this would be worth the time. Will Forte plays a formal special ops fighter named MacGruber. His wife was killed on their wedding day by nemesis Dieter Von Cunth (played by Val Kilmer). That's all you need to know. Two things should be addressed regarding this film:1) The cast is surprisingly good with Will Forte, Kristen Wiig (Bridesmaids), Ryan Phillippe (Cruel Intentions) work really well off of one another. I was particularly impressed by Val Kilmer (aka Iceman from Top Gun) who seemingly came out of nowhere to fill this role.2) I was not aware of this until afterward, but this MacGruber was directed by Jorma Taccone!! This is the guy who has an extensive history writing for SNL, was part of the comedy trio called The Lonely Island (SNL Digital Shorts), eventually going on to both perform AND direct the recent comedic musical "Popstar" in 2016. I'm a huge fan of his work and it really shines in MacGruber.Don't ignore this one. Like I said, even if you aren't a fan of SNL or the sketch, it's a completely different game on the big screen.----- 7/10 STARS -------- Review by Searsino -----
heftymartin I'm not normally for movies that attempt to be funny by being toe-curlingly embarrassing, but for some reason it truly works here. The jokes are high-school level but somehow it's like the humor has evolved. Maybe if I, in some weird dimension, was still in high school at age 38... this would be what my mind was up to. Environmentally forced to be at the lowest level of funny, but mature enough to take it many steps further than any high-school kid could. If that makes sense to you, watch this. Oh my god it's so stupidly funny. The actor's lines are hilarious, and the comedic timing works. Think of the dumbest possible answer to any question, and this movie has thought of an even dumber one. That' what I mean when I say "being this stupid requires intelligence".
mtgriffin1982 This is one of my favorite movies of all time. You have to know the universe of the movie is that of ridiculousness...once you get that.. and that its not some sophisticated movie then you should be good.. It is absurdly funny. Probably the most underrated movie that has come out in a long time. There are not many movies that have me laughing at every scene. If people like Zoolander then they should love this because it is the same goofy idea for a movie. If you don't get a kick out of the sex scenes then you should stop watching comedies because I don't think they are for you. Everyone just take it as it is and enjoy. No one is going to pay for it more than Cunth!!!
