MegaBrony Alastor I am super pumped to watch 2017's My Little Pony movie. It's gonna have both a really good story and tons of epic action, even more after the show made its characters extremely complex and grow throughout the series. However, the first Equestria Girls has none of that charm. While the show was meant to be timeless, soon after the 2017 movie Equestria Girls won't just be remembered for its backlash, it simply won't be remembered period. Now I've got a laundry list of things wrong with the movie.-The story plays out like every girly thing ever.-Ten million high school clichés. -Exposition, exposition, rush it out ASAP. -EVERYONE in the movie is an idiot. Seriously, that crown has no protection and Twilight doesn't even use her magic to guard it while she's still a pony?!? -The longer the movie goes on, the more obvious it is that it had to be padded out to fill 70 minutes. -Flash Sentry is a flat, cliché character. If he was removed, little to nothing would change.-Technology references. Email, texts, Youtube...this movie will become more dated as time goes on. -Unmemorable generic pop songs. Minutes after hearing one, I totally forgot it. Meanwhile, Elsa's Let it Go from Frozen had a FAR greater impact than all songs in the Equestria Girls series combined. -The simple use of a generic high school setting is EXTREMELY limiting. Star Wars and Lord of The Rings knew better than this and are set in their own potential universes instead. -The final (and only) fight in the entire movie lasts only a few seconds.-Sub-conflicts that are over in two minutes and never brought up again.-Multiple scenes that don't advance the plot.-LOGIC, FOR PETE'S SAKE! IF ANYONE IN THAT SCHOOL HAD A BRAIN, TWILIGHT WOULD HAVE NO CHANCE AT WINNING BACK THE CROWN! Nor would Sunset Shimmer's reign of terror last more than ten minutes. -Twilight says "Equestria will find a way to survive without my element." Ugh...-Very obvious Deus ex Machina at the end. -ALMOST NO ACTION. Lack of action drags away lots of fun. This becomes far more obvious after watching a lot of Disney and Dreamworks movies. Hell, even a single episode of EG's parent show has more action than this entire movie!Of all the Equestria Girls movies, I was only impressed with Rainbow Rocks. The first was garbage, and Friendship Games had absolutely forgettable "villains"! (For Pete's sake, no more one shot villains. 3's failed to live up to 2's, leaving very little impact.) I'm done with this series and skipping Legends of Everfree! Want a great story, smarts, and action? Then please go watch Big Hero 6 for the Nth time instead of Equestria Girls.
darrenszell Oh. In the cafeteria song, the pony girls sing in the café, with pony hat things. It's not necessary. it would be more good if they sang on a stage. it would be better if they were scolded. Bad idea Rarity. Oh my gosh. And not only that. the friends are acting to much friendship, their all BFFs, I know, but this has gone 2 far. The plot is 5/10 The music 1.3/10 and the animation, 6/10 Awful! come on. What makes the film worse is rarity in the café song thing. and the fight with the red and yellow girl. It would have been better if it has a PG rating, and the ponies stay ponies and no action.( if no action, light PG) honorable mention for top 15 worst animated movies. The show is still bad, but this is worse. id be watching the show than the dumb movie. The only MLP FIM episodes I love r... Cutie pox (The Hoopla is a reference to the SpongeBob episode Krusty Krab training video. That's It.
Brooke White This movie was only made to make money like the Barbie Dolls or American Girl Dolls. Sadly though like Planes they worried more about the toys and less about the film which brings this movie crashing down.~ There are plots in the movie that are never addressed. Example: Like Why did Celestia want to see Twilight Sparkle in the first place? Why couldn't she have asked/ tried to convince Principal Celestia to switch out the fake crown and the real crown?~ The songs are forgettable pop songs that I wouldn't pay 99 cents for if they were on I-tunes.~The plot is so clique that, it kind of hurts that this is related to My Little Pony. Tell me if this sounds familiar: a new female girl joins a school and has to become popular in order to beat the mean girl. So she gathers a team of unlikely heroes while bringing the school closer than ever. Yeah, that's what this story is. The TV show was creative with the mythology and how this world works in its own unique way. This is another boring high school movie that we've all seen before. Even the Barbie Diaries was more realistic. At least the pacing was better. ~ The characters in this movie are boring. Even Pinkie Pie isn't very funny in this movie. She can be crazy all she wants but crazy doesn't guarantee good comedy. The others are all boring one dimensional people/ ponies.~ Like I mentioned before I think the pacing of this movie is its biggest downfall. One minute the girls are all mad and hate each other then the next thing they do is hug and laugh with each other. What is the point of having them as enemies if you were going to bring them together in less than a few minutes? Plus how does Twilight Sparkle resolve bringing the school together clique? By singing a song about working together clique. Sorry but that just seemed too out of place. I know in the show they sing but in this movie it doesn't work. The reason I give it one star is that at least the animation is okay if not weird but aside from that skip the movie and go watch the cartoon.(Also nothing that happens in this movie has any impact on the story ark in the show. They act like this movie never even happened.)
NineTenElevenTwelve This movie is not a masterpiece nor is it an abomination of storytelling. It's a fun romp of a film that acts as a fitting tribute to the series it's based on.The characters are just as enjoyable here as they are in the main show. Despite the setting change, the characters are still the same characters we've come to know and love over the past few years. While a few of the new characters leave some to be desired, it's still incredibly enjoyable to see the characters we've come to know be placed in a different environment. It's also lots of fun to point out and catch all of the references to the main show as well as see various supporting and background characters being re-imagined in human form. The animation and music are still top notch. Out of the six songs in the film, only one fell flat for me. The rest are, in my personal opinion, really enjoyable and pretty catchy.Don't go into "Equestria Girls" expecting a masterpiece or an epic adventure. Go into it expecting a fun, character-driven story with good animation, catchy songs, funny jokes, and fun references. I'd recommend this to any fan of the show. It's not perfect but it's not horrible either. It's a good, entertaining, fun ride that I think any MLP fan can enjoy if they give it a chance.
