jtungsten16 Saw Nurse 3D at least 10 times already and each time I loved it more! Nurse 3D is a thrill ride from start to finish and Paz de la Huerta is amazing in this movie! She really carries this movie and can play crazy really, really well. The supporting cast is awesome too!The director needs to be commended for doing what I think is a classic, I don't understand the hate for this movie. This movie deserves to be watched and spoken about, it is comedy and horror all in one. So please give Nurse 3D a watch and I know you will be glad you did.
edwardrevans My problem with this is the Actress who plays Abby Russell. The actress who is playing a role of a seductive Nurse is I am sorry to say is1.Not pretty enough, I think the costume department and make up did her a dis-service here especially her hair, she is no Sharon stone. The allure of Basic Instinct is the looks and the allure Sharon gave the role. 2.Playing the role too Hammy, the dialogue sounded like she was either drunk or bored. The final act of the movie seemed rushed and botched, the HR Lady what happened to her ?The Shower scene as mentioned in the Boards, why are they still wearing their under garments, if there is a no Nudity clause then don't film the scene at all.Shame really good concept poorly executed.
Michael_Elliott Nurse (2013)* 1/2 (out of 4)Nurse Abby Russell (Paz de la Huerta) loves her job taking care of the sick and helpless but at night she likes to lure married men into her deadly trap. You see, this nurse loves to kill married men who cheat on their wives. Back at the hospital she begins training a new nurse (Katrina Bowden) and soon a deadly attraction begins.NURSE tries very hard to be a throwback to the 1970s grindhouse pictures but it falls well short on a number of levels. Well, to be honest, the film actually plays very much like a grindhouse film from the 70s because this here is pretty bad, has a very thin plot and makes up for that by offering up a lot of nudity and gore. It seems people think if they make a movie campy that they're doing it right but in my opinion campy films, that actually work, were done by people trying to make a serious movie but failed and the end result turned into camp. The problem with NURSE is that it's way too goofy to be taken serious as a horror movie and the goofy moments just aren't all that funny in order for it to work as a spoof. The problem with NURSE is that the story is downright stupid and never really makes too much sense. I mean, she kills married men for a reason, which I get but the screenplay then gets all caught up in this deadly relationship with the other nurse. All of this just leads to a bunch of dumb scenes that really don't add up to much. Another problem is that the humor just isn't all that funny and it really comes across as silly and stupid and especially the stuff with Niecy Nash. Both de la Huerta and Bowden don't add much performance wise but I thought de la Huerta was at least charming in her own ways. Judd Nelson also appears briefly and we get some nice supporting performances but these certainly don't save the movie. NURSE features quite a bit of nudity but it's pretty much topped by the non-nudity of Bowden appearing in full shower shots where she's wearing panties or shorts....in the shower? Either way, NURSE tries hard but falls well short of being a good movie.
hildahlka Quite possibly the most poorly written female lead character of all time. I selected this movie hoping it would be similar to American Mary. Unlike the amazing depth of character given to Mary, this lead was a horrible noir wannabe ripped right out of a low budget video game and placed in a world amongst otherwise adequate actors and actresses. She just didn't fit and every word she said was frustrating because we were supposed to believe the other characters accepted it as normal, or worse, sexy. I couldn't decide if it was the acting of the actress that was terrible or if she was doing the best she could with what is by far the laziest dialog ever written. It's like the director's idea of a bad girl is a girl who talks slowly and whispers at all times for absolutely no reason. There were no elements of surprise in the entire film as the character was so one dimensional that you could guess exactly how she would react to a situation and be absolutely correct to the point where it was ridiculous. Her first world problems back story makes her hard to empathize with. One final thought, why did they choose that particular actress? The character is supposed to be this sexy freak that men lose their minds over but every shot of her face is cringe worthy. I normally wouldn't judge based on looks but her character is supposed to be irresistible and everything about her, from her pout face to her god awful whisper voice is just terrible.
