TheLittleSongbird I personally don't consider Ed Wood the worst director of all time(not when there's Friedberg-Seltzer, Uwe Boll and Ulli Lommel lurking about). I don't consider either any of the films I've seen of his classics, but none of them are among the worst films I've seen. Plan 9 I liked despite its problems and Glen or Glenda is a guilty pleasure if also problematic. Night of the Ghouls and this movie, Orgy of the Dead I don't at all like. Like Ghouls, Orgy of the Dead has a great opening sequence, but for me that's it. Wood does have heart as a director, but I didn't feel that here. The effects and sets also look cheap, the script never makes sense and the story is slow and creaky. The acting is amateurish as well, Crisswell has presence but monotonic throughout. All in all, bad even for Wood. 2/10 Bethany Cox
deetler If you have nostalgia for 1960s skin flicks this is it. Lots of bare-breasted jiggly boobs. The chicks are svelte and pretty in a naive 60s sort of way (they all kinda look like second rate Raquel Welch/Ann-Margret clones). Reminds me of trench coated low life's beating off in empty, sleazy, smoke-filled movie theaters. There's really nothing much else to say. No plot, no dialog, just semi-nude strippers prancing around on stage. But they're young and thin and sexy. If all you're looking for is some innocent fun before the advent of hard-core bj flicks this might be your cup of tea. If you get your kicks by fantasizing about the chicks in the Adam's Family or Munsters going around bare-breasted this may be it for you.
EFF Productions First, let me tell you I am a fan of Edward D. Wood jr. But this film isn't even directed by him, he just wrote the script and helped as director assistant. But that was enough for me, if you know what I mean, so I ordered the "film" to watch it (as it's not easy to find such films here in Switzerland). You know, I thought that "Plan 9" was of the worst movie ever made. I had to change my mind! There is absolutely NOTHING in "Orgy of the dead". Nothing at all! All you get to see, is a bunch of "not-so-good-looking" female strippers, who perform in front of Criswell, the Cemetery Ghoul Master, or something like that.... And that's it! Of course there is some dialogue (written by Ed Wood, so you can imagine...) and there are a few moments here and there... like the wolfman. But this only makes up about 20 % of the movie. The rest, as I said is a lot of non-sense and very offensive to the viewers intelligence cr*p!!
jc1b7 This movie is Ed Wood on drugs. Man is it awful. But if you like Ed Wood you must watch it. It is a silly plot of a couple stumbling on a graveyard of dead exotic dancers being whipped and semi-nude. They are tied at stakes(not real well either) and forced to watch the orgy of the dead. Also on hand are a silly looking mummy and wolf man.The infamous Criswell as the emperor and his cohort Ghoulita emcee the great dance. You will have the impulse to fast forward because you start to lose it after awhile. Some of the dancing is worth watching for belly laughs , especially the pussy cat whipping dance. The music sounds like its from the Jackie Gleason Show. Classic. Criswell makes some interesting comments as the evening goes on. The hero of the movie is the sun as it comes out early and destroys all in view. Have some alcohol handy as you watch this, it will help. Remember The pussycat was born to be whipped.
