Bhavesh Bhatia There's only one mystery about fame. Nobody gets to keep it forever, but everyone gets their share. Fame is very fickle minded and is easily pulled towards something which glitters more than the other. The theme of Vikram Bhatt's new movie Raaz in 3D is the same. Shanaya (Bipasha Basu) is a superstar who is slowly tumbling down from the dizzying heights of fame, while the hot and fresh hopeful Sanjana (Esha Gupta) is bagging one movie after another. Sanjana gets rewarded for the efforts in the movies and she gradually rises to become the top heroine in the industry. The self-obsessed and brutally ambitious Shanaya will leave no stone unturned to cling to the fringes of her once prospering career. Even if that means playing with love, using her director-cum- boyfriend, Aditya (Emraan Hashmi) and losing faith in God. She take the help of Kali Vidya (black magic), tantric-mantra, meeting and sometimes mating with evil souls, seducing her boyfriend into becoming partner-in-crime and with a lot of exposing outfits and loads of sex. Sanjana is haunted by the spells of black magic, and in between shrieks, screams and steamy sex scenes, loses control over her mind and heart. In comes a bhatakti aatma (Manish Chaudhury) accompanied by some shocks, shivers and songs - and you have another sequel to the Raaz series. With a story that's quite simple with crude characters, Vikram Bhatt, dishes out this horror (read "horny") show in 3D, with sleek production values and clichéd elements like the usual fog, visit to the cemetery and crying voice-overs in plenty, spoonful of sex, horror and a few spine-chilling scenes. The 3D effect is not up to the mark, but a few ground-breaking scenes do impress. The music, however, is disappointing especially since it is a Bhatt film, with songs used to cover up insignificant scenes. The music, too, is a rip-off from the Bengali film Industry. Bipasha looks dangerously stunning in this role of a soul possessed by the Dark. It's a challenge and she takes it on with a vengeance. Emraan brings out different shades of his character, but in the struggle between pecks, obsession and possession he comes across as a completely confused soul. Esha Gupta is an attractive package and strikes in emotional scenes. Esha's performance was better and not a blink-and-you- miss type like that in Jannat 2. It is a worthy movie for people who want to come out of the Ramsay Bros. era. However, watching Raaz in 3D is a risk that one should not take if they have other less risky options.
viralpatel15 It definitely has to start with Bipasha Basu, the SHOW STEALER of the movie. Bipasha Basu is both hero and a villain in the movie. She left no stones unturned if you look into her acting talents. With portraying the struggle of an actor's life to attain fame and success,Bipasha is in her best shoes this time. She caught the character in a very apt and accurate manner. With script being weightless and the horror scenes looking funny or to laugh at,the movie on a whole is not one to be scared of. Sanjana(Esha Gupta) is very average.Though looking beautiful in most of the scenes she has to work really hard on her acting and dancing skills. Emraan this time got to be in good terms with both the actresses(kissing scenes!!)definitely,he has done justice to his role but again Bips has overshadowed him in almost every term due her profound expression, psyche behavior and arrogance . Well plotted, really! The movie is an amalgam of vendetta, jealousy, conflict, drama and sexuality. With showcasing the staunch Indian beliefs about black magic and all again our young generation need logic behind everything which this movie lacks a lot.The so-called famous cockroach scene enacted by Esha did not have a goosebumps effect either. So watch it for fun,not to be scared.~ Sheetal Sharma for ratemovieshere.com
payal gade Plot of the movie is quite familiar and very much predictable(as per shown in promos)... Plot :A superstar (Bipasha)is at the verge of her downfall, she wants to seek revenge on the New rising star (Esha). She chooses the path of evil(Black magic). A director(Emraan) who is under her debt and is in "Love" with her helps in doing this.Note: Trust me, what follows next is very much predictable and like every other movie of this kind. So we see the movie only to know how it is Executed!!!I Liked : Few shots(2/3) in first half which were quite scary, like suddenly some weird face appears on screen. Bips-Imran scene where she convince him to help her(Far better than Jism2).Bipasha Basu's acting was quite convincing and enjoyable(Compared to other actors), but cannot be even compared with RAAZ. I "Laughed" and "Cried" at Times Because of : Plot holes. There were many places where whatever was going on Looked childish and ridiculous. The Other world "Aatmaon ki dunia" is not at all convincing, we don't get to know what this world exactly is...When Bips decides to kill Esha we get to hear a dialog as dump as,"Satana/Tadpana to SHAITAN ke hathon me hai par maut BHAGWAN ke hathon me" (Then how come that Atma was able to kill Maid and Priest). Bipasha has to "****" that Atma to provide him strength to kill Esha!!! It was really very Ridiculous and towards end Bipasha is shown breaking the door with a single kick, and kills the doctor(She would have killed Esha instead anyways she became a murderer!!! LOL )... Even the dialogs are damn dumb(You can really enjoy passing comments on them if watch this one with group). At places Emraan's character don't react at all... At one place we see, a person next to Esha is cut into Head and body... She screams and a ZERO expression Emran says "Calm down!!! lets go from here." as if its regular for him to see all this. There are many more places where we think 'What the crap is going on!!!'.Some dialogs are really weired and ridiculous. End is not very convincing. Overall unlike RAAZ this movie has nothing to live up to the name "RAAZ3" and "Bhatt camp" movie.
silvan-desouza Horror films had become extinct in Bollywood, but RAAZ(2002) brought the trend in again and the film was a hit and it also gave a filip to that time 1 film old Bipasha Basu who got tremendous acclaim though her voice was dubbed. Years passed Vikram Bhatt the once lucky mascot of Bhatts with 3 back to back hits(Ghulam, Kasoor and Raaz) went to make films for others and for Bhatts he gave 2 disasters FOOTPATH(2003) and Inteha(2003) and it was pack up time for Vikram Bhatt, even otherwise his films were flopping, he came back with horror films like 1920, Shaapit, Haunted 3D.etc and got another disaster Dangerous Ishq(2012). Bipasha too started doing films for other filmmakers and after some time her career started flagging. RAAZ 3 is the third installment of Raaz after the average Raaz TMC(2009) Surprisingly Emraan was an AD for RAAZ and he starred in RAAZ TMC and now comes back in Raaz 3. It seems like Bhatts want to bring in the old formula of Ghosts, with Black Magic and all other stuff we thought had disappeared from Bollywood after RGV reinvented Ghost films with Bhoot(2003) The film also tries to mix in a lot more, there is plenty of eroticism, plenty of Humanism stories, Jealousy and lot of god vs evil. The film also copies from everywhere. The film has several moments which thrill while many make you die laughing. The film starts off well, in flashback(some trend of sorts recently) and then we are shown that Bips is awaiting her best actress award, but it goes to Esha Gupta. I didn't ever know that a director after winning best director will give the award directly to best actress, lol but then it also seems like there are 2 actresses only in Bollywood. Anywayz in such films logic be damned. As usual black magic is introduced in a funny creepy like Satan(Manish Chaudhary with lots of Kohl) who stays in a bhasti, he chants some thing and he gives Bips some water to give to Esha. So Bips seduces Emraan Hashmi and gets him do the job for her. He agrees(for some reason not explained) and what follows is several typical Bhatt style horror elements like the joker, windows opening on their own, while some are truly scary at times and the 3D is well used as per Indian standards though at times overused. The main story is sort of predictable but there are some scenes well handled like the scene when cockroaches attack Esha, Emraan confronting Bips at interval, The maid attacking Sanjana, The scene at the graveyard There are some unintentionally hilarious scenes like Emraan controlling Esha by kissing her, the ghost phoning Bipasha, The Satan demanding sex.etc Some scenes are never explained like why does the devil suddenly change his style when he could kill the maid why not kill Esha? Why does Emraan support Bipasha? The climax is well executed though it does look gimmicky Direction by Vikram Bhatt is decent, he reuses all his previous formula Music is typical Bhatt style, some songs are good like the title song, Deewana Kar Raha Hai, Rafta Rafta Camera-work is good, Dialogues are good at places with liberal use of abusive language.Bipasha Basu returns after a long time in a pivotal role and does an extreme good job, she excels in her role Emraan Hashmi does his routine Bhatt films act though he does a good job esp at the interval and he shows his growth, the role doesn't really demand much from him after proving his expertise with Shanghai his role is typical in Bhatt films(minus the streetsmart act) yet he does give a restrained performance which Dino had failed in Raaz Esha Gupta does seem plastic in her second outing(Jannat 2) though she does well in the cockroach scene yet she has a long way to go Manish Chaudhary, a regular of Bhatt camp does a good job
