Michael Ledo Thomas Reddmann (Nicholas Hope) is convicted of being the "head hunter" serial killer when they find him in an elevator with a bloody ax in his hand standing over a decapitated body. After he escapes from the institution, he manages to round up about a half dozen people instrumental in his conviction. They are literally chained to their desks and are tasked with proving him innocent or else they will be killed/tortured.This ironically follows a "12 Angry Men" formula while oozing with dark comedic symbolism. Thomas is the "regional manager". He considers himself to be fair. His employees agree he is fair, but think the worse of him. They are allowed 3 bathroom breaks a day. He asks them to do the seemingly impossible under stress. In his fairness, he gives each employee 5 warnings (actually 4 warnings with the fifth one being fatal). These warnings are carved on their forehead, like a permanent record. Like most bosses he has a bad hair piece. The film also contains a fair amount of blood and body parts.Parental Guide: F-bomb, nudity (Kelly Paterniti, plus 2 background girls)
sol- Retitled 'Inhuman Resources' for US release, neither title accurately hints at what 'Redd Inc.' is about, but then again, going into it with minimal expectations is part of the fun. The film begins as a 'Saw' variant with various kidnapped individuals waking up in a conference room where they are chained to the central desk and unable to escape, but the film soon morphs into a blend of dark comedy and mystery as the antagonist enters the scene. Played by a Nicholas Hope (of 'Bad Boy Bubby' fame), he is a human resources director convicted of murder who has recently fled prison. Having always protested his innocence, Hope forces his subjects to research his case and look for inconsistencies in the prosecution's case, while offering grotesque consequences for those who do not comply. Hope gives a wonderfully deadpan performance, hilariously declaring himself an "innocent man" after issuing his most vicious, violent consequences. Also priding himself as "firm but fair", the film sharply hits satirical notes as rugged workplace environments are giddily parodied. The film is partially let down by a wealth of unanswered questions (and it seems bizarre that only one of the six characters attempts to escape with definite opportunities noticeable), but is an effective experience all the same, greatly enhanced by excellent makeup effects from industry legend Tom Savini. The film is also full of memorable splatter scenes throughout, but the best bit is a subtle one as blood drips from our heroine's forehead onto the 'Esc' key on her keyboard.
politehere I just finished watching the movie. It wasn't one of those serious slasher films. Even though I've seen innumerable horror movies, the movie still made me cringe. It is sure to make some of the audience want to cover their eyes during some killing scenes, which is not necessarily a bad thing. The movie was explicit about showing minor yet disturbing enough torture scenes, but seemed to deliberately censor the major ones, which is understandable given the fact that it wasn't meant to be a torture movie. The gore is not over the top and it is only there to contribute to the story progression. It is more of a detective movie, mixed with some joker-type madness, which slightly takes away from the seriousness of the violent scenes, and somehow makes you keep watching even if it makes you uncomfortable. You're going to watch a bunch of people trapped in a single location trying to work their way out. This means much of your time will be spent watching the characters have lengthy conversations with one another in order to solve a murder case. The movie is a mix of detective, torture, and comedy genres. I'm not into comedy movies, but it kind of made this movie more appealing. If it didn't have that funny feeling to it, I might have got bored due to it resembling many other movies of this type. I must say the story is very original and that alone makes this movie worth watching, although I'm pretty sure for most of you out there it's going to be a one-time watch only.
chrismurphys I was invited to a preview of Redd Inc intending to leave early. I held both arms of the seat throughout. It's grisly but it's also very well written. I've been a Criminal Lawyer 40yrs and seen much of psychopaths and cruelty. This movie nails it. Surprised at negative reviews. My favorite movie of this genre since Cape Fear! See it. The movie dwells on the allegedly wrongful conviction of Nicholas Hope for a murder in an elevator.I truly was taken by surprise and won't spoil the ending. Suffice to say that it has been my long experience in many homicide cases, more than 300, that there is nothing more wronged than a criminal who is falsely accused of even the slightest crime amongst all their evil deeds merrily committed. Nicholas Hope embarks on revenge and the examination of all those that contributed to the errors that had him locked away for a crime he says he didn't commit. Hey, I'm used to horrible people but this guy is something else!
