Desath By all means, Redirected is not a bad movie, but there's a catch: a viewer has to know Lithuania quite well or he/she will not get it. Not completely, anyway. The movie was directed by Lithuanian director Emilis Velyvis and the idea behind Redirected is to laugh at all existing stereotypes on Lithuanians and/or to deal with some aspects that have (or used to have) an equivalent in the real world.Obviously, not all Lithuanian people are as lowlife as depicted in Redirected, but for a very long time Lithuanian population was burdened with a worrying amount of chavs. It used to be especially bad in the past, straight after the collapse of Soviet Union.Unfortunately, in my opinion, director did not manage to make this clear for an international audiences. And, while it was a HUGE hit in Lithuania, it got a pretty low score on IMDb etc.The movie is full of inner jokes and allusions that one will not get without knowing anything about Lithuania. The only reason to watch it, having nothing to do with the country or its people, is this: if you have a specific taste in movies, that is if you are into loads of silly action, lots of shouting, absurd, farce and do not have any huge expectations, then you will probably like it. Just do not take it too seriously.Otherwise, please do yourself a favour and watch something else instead.
bingsfilms Redirected is a story along the lines of Snatch, set in Lithuania. The plot is sort of on a bell curve, the beginning being not the best, and the ending being pretty awful. The dark comedy and action found within the bulk of the movie is what put my rating up to 7 stars. I'm trying my best to avoid spoilers, and most of the movie carries some weight tied to the plot, so I'm just going to skip this bit on fear of being blacklisted. The sound is another complaint that a lot of people had. I wasn't paying much attention and as such didn't have much problem with it. This might be what brought my review up a bit more. Now for the people who won't like this movie and what they can watch instead:If you can't stand a solid 10-15 minutes of rather boring introductory plot, I'd say this movie isn't for you. Instead, try "Snatch" or "Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels". (For movies of a similar feel that pick up a bit more quickly)If you really can't stand the lack of sound, I'd again suggest "Snatch" and "Moonwalkers"If you're not a fan of Darker Action-Comedies, a solid alternative would be "Kung Fury" or "Naked Gun".Finally, if you aren't an action oriented person, a non action-y movie that is more Dark in its Dark Comedy would be "Trainspotting". Also good.
astronaut1 The premise is this: 3 guys rob a poker game, the owner of which (vinnie Jones) proceeds to track them down to Lithuania in order to get his money and his ring back. The rest of the movie involves the protagonists running around getting bloodied and bruised and in many near death experiences. By the end you will not care what happens to them. The movie basically comprises of many scenes where one of the 'good guys' ends up getting knocked unconscious by one of the many hateful bad guys, the movie then plods along with no real story to speak of. The characters are poor, the acting is poor, the script is below poor. Avoid like the plague.Don't believe the 6.7 rating either, it was apparently inflated by Lithuanians. The most inaccurate rating I've ever seen.
kasi722 The movie is about a mishap of events in the life of four friends who eludes after a planned robbery. And it looks more messier and the good part is that the crew delivered it perfectly to the core...definitely its not a favorite movie for everyone....first time a movie in Lithuania. The fun part which everyone would doubt is how the guy could carry an attachment for almost a day.England flicks are of an entirely different state either it is totally disturbing or totally provoking. The movie hadn't garnered much attention thanks to the negative reviews. Maybe down the years this would be regarded of a good comedy gangster flick.
