Varun Chaudhary A drug-mafia infested Goa plus menacing mobsters plus a little girl who goes missing plus a muscled man on a mission is equal to 'Rocky Handsome'. What all of it basically comes down to is this: a sculpted John Abraham donning a black singlet–pajamas–combat cap, walking slo-mo down corridors, beating the c—p out of sundry bad guys. Or slashing holes into 'em. Same difference. That is the sole purpose of this film. The baddies are a colourful lot. One is called Mantoo, or Muntu. Another has a ponytail and leaps about like a terrible carbon copy of a bad carbon copy. Another is bald-pated and twinkly eyed. These two have a bodyguard who comes from one of those lands in the East where kinetic martial arts are used commonly. I think I heard someone say Thailand, so okay, he's Thai. But really who cares about such specifics in a film which is determined to plumb all depths when it comes to grisly violence : from a man with an axe, to goons with knives and guns, and some kind of a vacuum drill, which is used in a most shiver inducing manner right at the start, every conceivable weapon is brought to bear. But before you can shout axe murderer, you ought to know that Abraham's character is the most violent of them all. Particularly in a climactic scene, in which he makes like a veritable whirlwind, using everything he has, to carve through his opponents.Of course he has a justification, because he is a Hindi film hero. Which is meant to make up for the absence of a coherent story-line, dreary set pieces, and long stretches of people shooting at each other. The film is based on a well-known Korean flick, and in Korean flicks which topline gore, the leading men are not saddled with back stories to make them look noble. Shruti Haasan shows up for a miniscule walk- on just to shed some good light on the hero, before he walks off into the shadows.John Abraham's Rocky Handsome is a double: the screen splits into two, with both Rocky and Handsome come striding towards us, just in case we were confused. He only appears bad, see, he's actually a good guy with a terrible past. The rest of the space is filled with an eight year old (Diya Chalwad) who's made to talk like she's double that, and given a relationship with our hero which is meant to tear you up, but feels faintly creepy. There's a young woman with a drug habit. Just when you think it couldn't get any worse, you come upon the gracious Suhasini Mulay trucked out as a sleazy peddler of kids. Everything is all over the place in this Goa over-run by 'Roosis', and dark night clubs, and organ traders, and scenes of extreme, hard-core violence.
Maharishi verma When I saw the trailer of this film, I was shocked .wow!! Can Indian filmmakers make this kind of action films? The answer is yes! I've read some critics said that the movie does not able to match to the original Korean film. So, I want to tell them that the original movie was not a great film and RH has all ingredients to make a successful action flick. Now, let's talk about performances-- John plays his character very well, his body language , dialogue delivery everything is up to the mark.Other actors provides nice support. The movie has some minor mistakes. such as--screenplay is little-bit confusing, dialogues are not so effective. But action lovers don't care about all of these, they want action ,and the movie provides some great action scenes. Overall, the movie does not disappoint .Oh my goodness! I'm going to watch it again.
SuRaj SuNil Despite being an adaptation, Rocky Handsome managed to grab a majority appreciation. The direction and screenplay have been fantastic throughout the movie but lacking a little deeper portrayal of characters. But still, I wouldn't mind recommending this movie. The action scenes are too exploring making this movie a true one of a kind bollywood action film. The music was complimenting the scenes and the emotional scenes really felt stronger every minute. John Abraham did a fantastic job and clearly, he has put in a lot of hardwork and effort into the making of this movie. Shruti Hassan, though a small role, did perfectly well. And the kid, awwww..... the cutest little thing <3 If you haven't watched it yet, make sure you do so because its fantastic. Worth every minute in a theatre. Well done Team Rocky Handsome :) I loved it.
sycik18 This is the first feature film I'm reviewing. That said- i did enjoy it. Heard it is a remake of a popular Korean movie- which reflects in the screenplay a lot. Not really for bollywood audience. Slow paced screenplay with touching moments..backed by hardcore action sequence- typical Korean style. Really enjoyed it for John Abraham-this fits well into his genre. My favorite after Karam( which i hope has a sequel). The action sequence in the club and last scene are the highlights and wished there were. Hoping the director would take this forward to more sequels. With better supporting cast especially the villains and a smarter efficient cop. The villains brother duo lacked the intensity. A more in par and equal to John's presence would be a wow factor. Like i would like to see a second part with twin evil psychotic yet well versed in combat brothers against John. If taken further could be Bollywood "Taken". The villain's henchman, played by Kazu Patrick Tang, is a commendable performance. Faster screenplay on the lines of The Raid, District 13 and equal powerful competition would have made this
