Christmas-Reviewer BEWARE OF FALSE REVIEWS & REVIEWERS. SOME REVIEWERS HAVE ONLY ONE REVIEW TO THEIR NAME. NOW WHEN ITS A POSITIVE REVIEW THAT TELLS ME THEY WERE INVOLVED WITH THE FILM. IF ITS A NEGATIVE REVIEW THEN THEY MIGHT HAVE A GRUDGE AGAINST THE FILM . NOW I HAVE REVIEWED OVER 200 HOLIDAY FILMS. I HAVE NO AGENDA. I AM HONEST! If you are a huge fan of watching bad films then put this on your list of films to see. This film is available in multi-pack dvds. These are a group of films that are sold in a set for around $10 and most of the time you get around 6 movies. That is how I discovered this film. The opening has children from around the world singing Christmas Songs. These scene goes on & on. We finally get to see see the American Children and the "Christmas Song" they are singing is Mary Had a Little Lamb".As for the major plot On December 24, Santa prepares for his yearly journey at his Toyland castle in space. He plays the organ while his children helpers from all over the world sing. Meanwhile, in Hell, Lucifer instructs his chief demon Pitch to travel to Earth and turn the children of the world against Santa. In a busy marketplace, Pitch attempts to convince five children to "make Santa Claus angry": Lupita, a poor girl; Billy, the son of wealthy but negligent parents; and three trouble making brothers. Pitch fails at convincing Lupita to steal a doll from a vendor but succeeds in convincing the brothers to break a shop window. Santa's child workers alert him to these events.Unable to travel to Earth before nightfall on Christmas Eve, he instead uses equipment to watch Pitch and the children. One device allows him to view Lupita's dream, induced by Pitch, in which she is tormented by life-sized dancing dolls who entice her to steal. He also listens as the three brothers plot to break into Billy's home and steal his presents. They also attempt to write a letter to Santa claiming they have been good, but Santa's voice informs them that he can see all they do.I don't want to tell much more except WATCH IT and have fun.
utgard14 Well this is unlike any other Christmas movie you're likely to see. It's a Mexican movie (dubbed in English) about Santa Claus fighting a demon called Pitch. The demon was sent by Lucifer to corrupt kids before Christmas. Anyway, Santa lives in outer space where he plays organ music to celebrate the different kids of all the different nations. If you make it through this opening ten minutes or so of Santa playing the organ, you're made of tough stuff. While Pitch is busy trying to get little kids to do bad stuff to tick Santa off, Merlin (yes, that Merlin) gives Santa some magic dreaming powder and a flower (!) to help him complete his Christmas rounds. This is pretty crazy stuff and I have barely scratched the surface. Wait until you see all the gadgets Santa uses to spy on us or the scene where a dog chases Santa up a tree. It's all very cheesy and stupid but also weird fun. Yes, most of that fun comes from laughing at it, but the movie was made for a few pesos so I'm sure it will take what it can get. Plus, it was clearly made for little kids so I try to cut it some slack. It was featured on a popular episode of Mystery Science Theater 3000, which is where I first saw it many years ago. I saw it in its entirety later and again just this past week on TCM. I would encourage you to see the movie itself and not just watch the MST3K version. The movie is so weird and funny, even without the MST3K commentary. There's nothing else quite like it.
ofpsmith How do I review a movie like this? It makes almost no sense at all. Well I might as well look into the plot, whatever it is. In this movie Santa Claus doesn't live in the North Pole but instead in outer space. So he's basically an alien. Anyways his helpers are also not what you would usually see. There are no elves but instead, children from around the world. But there are only three out of so many children that even help him do anything. In fact the first 5 minutes of the movie is them all singing. But whatever. There always has to be a bad guy right? Here it's a devil named Pitch. Satan (yes Satan is in a Christmas movie) orders Pitch to ruin Christmas basically by making children do bad things. Yes that's about the most of what he does. Then the most random of all characters appears to help Santa, and that is Merlin the Magician. So we have Merlin in a movie about Santa Claus. Who's next, Forrest Gump? Anyway Pitch is defeated and they all live happily ever after. Honestly it's pretty easy to see why this movie is bad, but it still feels like a Christmas movie either way. There really isn't much else to say.
johnstonjames Feliz Navidad. i mean that from the bottom of my heart. i'm sorry that most reviewers here showed their other bottom to this interestingly quaint film. to all of the gringo schmucks in this country that trash anything that seems too different or foreign...Hello! this film is a foreign film from another culture. of course it seems foreign and strange to Americans. but be honest. no stranger or more convoluted or complicated than half the nonsense we watch here. is this movie really any weirder than 'Avatar' or 'The Matrix' or any of the endless parade of weirdness on the sci fi channel or in all these idiotic reality shows? probably not.i like this Christmas movie. i think it's kind of imaginative and really very lavishly produced. and yes. i think it's still pretty strange even though i have tried to come to terms with it and understand it. look. i first saw this on MST 3000 and thought it was one of the strangest films i'd ever seen. considering all the really strange entertainment i have exposed myself to most of my life, that really said something. i was immediately taken with the film and made an effort to find out more about it and acquire it on DVD. whatever you may think of the quality of this production, most people who reviewed it seemed to think it stood out good or bad. some people even claim it's the worst ever. if it's the worst EVER, that's quite an achievement.it's hardly the worst ever. but is it genuinely a good film? this is kind of scary, but i'm not sure. i believe in reserving too much judgment, so i'm not sure if my brains have become wack from too much tolerance. when i was younger i used to sit back and cackle and trash every bad movie i saw. now that i'm much older i think the subject of bad movies and entertainment is more complicated. i try to understand the films and the filmmakers more, rather then just sharpening my knives and attacking them. there is so much misunderstanding in the world and people should also realize that every judgment they make comes with a lot of baggage of preconceived notions. i really shouldn't have to tell any of you that.this film is not without quality. the production looks like it had more money sunk (did i say sunk? doesn't sound good) into it than a lot of so-called bad movies. it features a fairly authentic Santa Claus and some striking enough surrealism. the Little red haired kid with the bouffant hair style looks like a kid designed by Henry Selick.speaking of Selick. this whole movie sort of out bones Selick's 'Monkeybone'. it's very surreal but i don't think it really understands how over the top it's being with the whole "pitch" thing, the laughing reindeer, and Lupita's dream sequence with some scary life-sized rag dolls.i do have to also add how hilarious the American stereo type was. American whites have so classically stereo typed so many cultures and ethnicities that they deserve the weird stereo type this film has of America. when all the little children of the world sing in an international sequence, they show all the children of the world in there cultural attire. when it comes to the United States, they show children dressed in cowboy outfits strumming a guitar and singing "mary had a little lamb". well. how insulting. not all Americans are frick'in cowboys and not all Anglos sing the Anglo/English song "mary had a little lamb. but we deserve that weird condescension.all in all i think this movie is one strange hoot. but i love it. just like the American Christmas classics 'Frosty' or 'Rudolph', i welcome this off the wall classic from Estudios Churubusco in Mexico. it now seems like the holidays wouldn't be the same without it. "FELIZ NAVIDAD" to everyone around the world. and especially from all us Cow boys and girls here in the States i sing, "mary had a little lamb all ya dawgies. yee haw".
