ecanarensis The best thing I can say about this movie is that it's better than "Dark Metropolis." This is not saying much, to say the least; I turned it off after 10 minutes, if that...I would rather have slashed my wrists than watched that whole thing. I figured this had to be better. It almost was. Maybe. A bit. I had a very bad feeling when in the first 90 seconds, we see an outer space battle & hear deep booming sounds each time one of the ships explodes & the rattatatat of space machine guns(!)...I don't expect movie makers to be physicists, but did they think that it's only screams that you can't hear in space? It's a VACUUM dummies; there is no sound transmission. Kickin' special effects: -ship design by Edward Scissorhands. -"Hey gang, let's glue a bunch of keyboards & random crap to the walls & spraypaint 'em dark grey, it'll look keen!"Capt Jekel talks as if his tongue was shot full of novocaine, but is VERY intense (whatever he's saying). He acts like William Shatner channeling Brad Pitt in "12 Monkeys" (who i always thought was silly). He also sounds constipated.omg obligaroty shower scene walks around covered with blood for hoursKlassic Kuotes: "traitorous vixen"??? "your hate for him runs seductively deep"????? "there isn't a man i can't kill with the promise of a simple kiss."costume had a lot of leg warmers left over, so they used them...as wrist warmers space chick with sexy blasters on her thigh
FChadc In a universe where everything is called a "protocol," can people who (apparently) can keep regenerating, no matter how often or messily they get killed, find any emotional meaning in anything? Nope.I have to admit, I was well into fast-forward mode by the time the first crew member regenerated, but at least it explained why his sweetheart didn't freak out when he exploded and covered her with blood and tissue. Instead, she stood there with a disgusted expression as if she'd just been in a foot fight, or someone dropped a paint-filled water balloon on her head. So I don't know what the whole regeneration sub-plot was about, but at the end there's all this emotional angst because the cute lady co-captain (I think) dies of a gunshot wound, and then in the last scene she's back as well, safe and sound (and even regenerated the same costume without bloodstains or bullet holes) so what's the big fuss? Did anyone watch this mess carefully enough to figure that out? I was mildly curious, but not enough to rewind it and watch a single extra frame again to find out.I wonder if they just put a bunch of actors together on the sets and had them make up their lines? So almost everything you have heard about how bad this movie is, is true. I don't think it's quite the worst science fiction movie I've ever seen. That would probably be Dracula 3000. This one actually seems to end the way someone intended it to end, stupid as that ending may be, instead of just stopping because they ran out of film or time or drugs or . . . something. But that said, this one is still right there nipping at Dracula 3000's heels.
Rene de Bok This film was the worst I ever watched (and I kept on watching it because of this). I never write reviews but in this case I made an exemption. At the end I thought I watched a film that was produced around 1960. The dialog's were terrible. The switch between scenes was very confusing. The special effects were very simple and totally not realistic. There was a lot of blood (too much). I don't understand what the filmmakers were thinking. They could could not have been serious in making this film and what about the actors? What serious actor would play in such a movie. I think that every beginning filmmaker should be forced to see this film. This would certainly enhance their self perception.
travisjhendricks a somewhat typical setting for a sci-fi flick; future/space-ships/local space bar/club.the plot takes off from the first minutes in the film.they are in space and come across an enemy. details emerge from here to about 2/3rds onto who wants what, why they want it.there are battles, character development, and some nice surprise quirks throughout the movie.one grand finale, with a bit of a twist, brings you to the close.SO if I were writing review hoping Scavengers would break new ground, compete on a playing field with George Lucas in one corner and James Cameron in another, I would be furiously typing about the lack of 3-d, in movie ad placement, and high dollar cg.THANKfully that is not the basis of my review and score. this is a film made to be a casual, in home experience. there is enough indi element to keep the movie fresh and personal compared to the Hollywood Juggernaut type cg based film. also there is enough true Hollywood experience and craftsmanship to make this film beautiful to watch and believable (with a small amount of imagination).
