CousinBagunca Session 9 is about a bunch of stressed out asbestos cleaning dudes that can't keep it together while working on a abandoned asylum. Meanwhile, one of them is listening to a bunch of creepy, but interesting, old tapes he found on the same asylum. At first, you might think this is some sort of ghost story, but it's actually way better than that. Session 9 has a slow pace that might bore some of you, and indeed in the first few moments of the movie, I myself struggled to keep watching. Though, as the movie goes on, you get hooked up in the facts. The ending is well done and might give you chills. Overall, this movie is fine and well made. At the time, a nice entry for the horror genre. It won't be a 10/10 for its slow pace at the beginning that might be overwhelming and lack of likeable characters, except for Jeff, he's aight.Final word? I'd say watch it if you're an horror movies guys. You won't regret it.
edmungus Easily one of the best horror movies Iv ever seen don't know why it as such a low score, you don't need a huge budget or a star cast to make a psychological horror movie, there's not even any scary music till the closing credits and after the final act your left genuinely disturbed, you don't really know what's going on till the end but you get a very satisfying explanation which is very rare in most horror movies.
Dino Malnar Biggest key of movie is that the crew were cleaning asbestos (dangerous substance what can affect hallucinations and serious illness) hospital and probably Gordon ( a person slipping into insanity) was infected (we can see his ill leg in the van) and started freak out more and more every day. Also we can compare Gordon with Mary. Probably he has same personal disorder and same alters like her, that is why he digging eyes to his victims (Mary's second alter "Billy" believe that he lives in the eyes, we can see note of Mike's tape analysis that this alter is very protective to Mary"s first alter "Princess"). Gordons second alter tries to protect him when Phile started doubt in the Gordon's behaving (Phile mention to Mike that Gordon hit his own wife and that he can be dangerous for their job). Gordon was mourning for what he did to his wife (his first alter miss the family just like the Mary's "Princess"). Mary's third alter "Simon" killed the Peter on the Chrismas ("22 years ago") when Peter frightened her and she felt on her new doll and injured herself. In my opinion, Gordon's wife tried to move away dangerous Gordon from their newborn child, he tried to come back but his wife didn't want it,so he killed her. Maybe he somehow accidentally killed his child (we can see Gordon in Mary's room, watching photos on the wall and crying for his child just like Mary cried for a doll). Simon lives in "week and wounded" just like injured Mary and hurt feeling Gordon. Silver coins may present protection from evil like from vampires or evil alters.
Fritz Fantom I went through some "What's the creepiest film you've ever seen?" thread on IMDb, and a lot of people mentioned Session 9, so I was very curious about it. The plot seemed interesting enough and the movie poster looked creepy, so I had rather high expectations on this one. And I have to say: I don't agree with all the positive reviews at all, except for one thing: Most horror flicks nowadays only have a lot of blood and jump scares (which I also like, to be honest) and there are only few movies that scare you on a subtle, psychological level. And, according to the reviews, Session 9 should be one of those films. But it is not, in my opinion. Not at all. There is hardly any build up of tension during the first hour of the film, only a few moments. And don't get me wrong, I AM a fan of movies with a slow build up, but this one was just boring. The characters were not very believable, although the makers tried to make them deep, but failed in my opinion. There are quite a few things going on, so you have to keep attention and get curious how everything will solve in the end. So it is kinda interesting for about half an hour. But then, the story becomes extremely predictable. It is a very cookie-cutter type of horror/thriller story and has no interesting or fresh aspects. I also didn't like the fact that the whole "action" went on in the last 10 minutes. It seemed very hesitated. Too much dialogue that could have been left out since it didn't make the characters any more credible, and too many different things going on that could also haven been left out since they didn't really tie together in the end (or at least didn't ad much to the story).Last but not least, the film lacked of atmosphere. If I watch a horror film without the typical jump scare stuff, I expect it to have dense atmosphere that chills you to the bone, and Session 9 failed to deliver such atmosphere. The only thing I thought was creepy was the old wheel chair from the movie poster.
