shawbags SHARKNADO 3: OH HELL NO! review by Mike Smith In this 3rd installment of the Syfy original trilogy, Sharknado, a monstrous tornado unleashes ravenous sharks from Washington D.C., all the way down to Orlando Florida. It's up to Fin Shepard and his friends and family to save the day....again. I highly enjoyed the over the top cheesiness of the Sharknado franchise, but this one jumped the shark. The movie is outrageously ridiculous but it's a fun ride. The movie knows what it is and doesn't take it's self serious. One thing I loved about this Sharknado is the list of celebrity cameos. David Hasselhoff, Frankie Muniz, Bo Derek, the awesome Michael Winslow, Ne-Yo, WWE legend Chris Jericho, Bill Engvall, Jerry Springer, and the list goes on! The c.g. is bad, the story is ridiculous, the acting is cheesy but the movie is fun. Yes all 3 movies blend together and the movie is forgettable. If you like B movies then you may enjoy this as much as I did, but this movie isn't for everyone. I really hope that there are no plans for a Sharknado 4 because I think this film really pushed the franchise as far as it can go. Cheers and remember life won't suck as long as there is a good B movie to watch.
one-nine-eighty Fin and April are back, well sort of, they're in Florida with thoughts that the sharknado threat has gone, little do they know. Things are going to get nasty again real soon. If you are watching this you probably know what has come before it. Expect a lot of the same. Laughable CGI, ludicrous concept, ham acting from a lot of performers, lame jokes, a sprinkling of Z-list celebrities, and tongue in cheek humour with very little horror.I personally like bad movies so I knew what I was in for. I don't think this is as strong as the previous two movies but it does throw our heroes into the same situation with different variables. I'm going to give this film 6 - unless something new is introduced in future sequels the series will start to become stale and might get boring, for now it's very lowbrow entertainment which doesn't offend.
Jackson Booth-Millard The first film was billed on social media as "so bad it's good", it was just bad, and the sequel was arguably worse, it was obvious that it would be a trilogy, and as a critic I felt it only right to complete it. Basically sharknado fighter Fin Shepard (Ian Ziering) receives a Presidential Medal of Freedom from President of the United States, Marcus Robbins (Shark Tank's Mark Cuban), in Washington D.C., when another freak cyclone full of man-eating sharks strikes the nation's capital, Fin and the President fight off the sharks in the White House, until the storm subsides. Fin's wife April (Tara Reid) is pregnant, she is with her daughter Claudia (Ryan Newman) and her mother May Wexler (Bo Derek) and at Universal Studios in Orlando, Florida, Fin is worried they are in danger of the storm returning. Fin catches up with his former employee Nova Clarke (Cassandra 'Cassie' Scerbo), who with her partner Lucas Stevens (Frankie Muniz), has become a hardened sharknado storm tracker. They stop at a military airport and get clearance to use a fighter jet to bomb other forming sharknados, Lucas loses his limbs one at a time and ultimately sacrifices himself to allow Fin and Nova to escape, they detonate a bomb and crash into the river at the Universal Orlando Resort. Eventually Fin reunites with April, Claudia, her boyfriend Billy (Jack Griffo) and May, another sharknado strikes, the group take cover in the iconic theme park Universal, it gets caught in the cyclone, until it is tossed and lands on top of a tall monument. It is realised that numerous storms will be combining into a massive sharknado that will destroy the East Coast, so Fin asks his estranged father, former NASA colonel Gilbert "Gil" Grayson Shepard (David Hasselhoff), for a risky plan to destroy the storm from space. The plan is put into action, but incoming sharks destroy the walkway, Billy is also killed, forcing April to board the shuttle also, although she was only there to stop Fin going. In orbit, Gil deploys "Plan B", activating the defence satellite laser weapon, leaving himself in space as there is not enough fuel to propel both him and the ship back to Earth, the sharknados are blasted and destroyed by the laser beam. But this attack causes the sharks to propel into space, Fin attacks with a laser chainsaw, he and April are swallowed by two separate sharks which fall to Earth, both are charred from atmospheric entry, but Fin emerges unharmed, while April is also unharmed, and has given birth to her baby. Also starring Mark McGrath as Martin Brody, Police Academy's Michael Winslow as Brian "Jonesy" Jones, singer Ne- Yo as Agent Devoreaux, Stargate SG-1's Christopher Judge as Lead Agent Model, The Incredible Hulk's Lou Ferrigno as Agent Banner, writer Jackie Collins (Joan's sister), Jerry Springer as Mr. White, Celebrity Big Brother's Ray J as Tom Major, Penn Jillette as Lieutenant Colonel Stylo, Teller as Major Caissier, I'm a Celebrity's Kendra Wilkinson as Flo, Matt Lauer, Al Roker, Savannah Guthrie, Kathie Lee Gifford, Jared S. Fogle and The X Factor's Jedward (John and Edward Grimes) as Tourists. It is almost pointless mentioning the acting in it, well known faces not taking themselves or the project seriously, like the other two films it is deliberately trashy and absurd, the special effects are cheap and unconvincing, I may have tittered a little because of some deliberate comedic references, and of course how ridiculous and idiotic it is, another sequel not to bother with, an unintelligent science-fiction horror. Poor!
Paul Magne Haakonsen Well, with a hand on heart, then I should say that "Sharknado" is one of those guilty pleasure trips that most of us have, but don't fully acknowledge. These movies are so bad that they are actually fun to watch. However, it should be said that if you have seen the first "Sharknado" movie and/or the second movie, then you have essentially already also seen "Sharknado 3: Oh Hell No!". Yep, this third installment in the series uses the same recipe from the previous two movies and offers very little in terms of improvement or new ideas. The trouble with sharknadoes seem to follow Fin around like a bad case of the flu. So by now, why doesn't he just stay indoors in a place where there is absolutely no chance of tornadoes forming...You know exactly what you are getting when you sit down to watch "Sharknado 3: Oh Hell No!", so there is nothing to surprise you here. And with that being said, then it should also be said that "Sharknado 3: Oh Hell No!" delivers what it is supposed to.The cast, both new and returning from the previous two, did good enough jobs with their given roles and characters. And it was somewhat of a surreal experience to witness Davis Hasselhoff in this movie and in this particular role. And for something new, then think what if sharks could be in outer space? Wouldn't that be awesome? Well, just wait and see..."Sharknado 3: Oh Hell No!" follows in the footsteps of the previous two movies, for good or bad.
