Glen McCulla I purchased this little nugget in a four-pack of DVDs that also contained cinematic treats such as "Dinoshark" and "MegaPython vs. Gatoroid". I suppose there was no way i could ask for a refund afterwards, as it can't be said that i didn't know what i was getting myself into. Not that id've ever entertained such a notion: for these films are the stuff of a madman's dreams - the kind of thing you and your friends would make up when drunk, and never think someone would actually make. The man forever to be known as "T.V.'s Eric Roberts" (or, in our house, "The Master from the rubbish version of Doctor Who") stars - or at least turned up for the afternoon to film his scenes, possibly for the Scotch he gets to neck on the boat rather than actual wages - as Nathan Sands, mad scientist creating a deadly hybrid monster for a shady government defence project. Will these people never learn? Along for the ride are Sands' hot daughter (Sara Malakul Lane), an ex-marine shark hunter played by possible the most annoying actor ever to walk the face of the earth (Kerem Bursin), a hot in a sleazy kind of way female reporter who looks like she'd be filthy in the sack (Liv Boughn), and comedy drunk fisherman / eyewitness Pez (Blake Lindsay) - who almost salvages this by being pretty funny. Not to be approached when sober!!
jimrboz Dear People that made Sharktopus ,We think that you paid 10 dollars on the whole movie. Next movie put at least 30 dollars. This movie needs a lot of work, more drama and make more things look real .Everything looks fake , and if you remake this movie don't make so many girls die and don't make Santos die. I think when the actors read this they thought it was cool. But when they were acting, in it in their heads they probably thought why are we doing this this is so stupid. My thought was every 10 minutes in the beginning someone dies in the middle every 5 minutes someone dies then in the end every 3 minutes someone dies.Nathenal gets cut in the leg but someone else gets cut too and dies while he doesn't?! Sincerely, Alexis,Jocelyn, and Sophia
Michael O'Keefe Maybe another good idea gone bad. Genetic Scientist Nathan Sands(Eric Roberts)is proud of his creation, "S-11", a hybrid of shark and octopus. Sands feels he has filled the bill creating what is to be the most powerful secret weapon in the U.S. Navy's waning arsenal. Incredible creature meant to be any enemy's nightmare; shock and awe with total chaotic carnage. Sands is pleased to follow orders in staging a demonstration proving his fulfillment of a major government contract; but the control device on "S-11" comes loose allowing the creature to roam and attack at will. As the powerful "Sharktopus" makes way to the popular tourist spot Puerto Valarta, Mexico; Sands hires a Middle East war veteran Andy Flynn(Kerem Bursin)to capture the engineered killer before it attacks and gets more attention of news services. Too late! CGI is not the greatest and story line is more comical than frightening. Also in the cast: Sara Malakul Lane, Liv Boughn, Blake Lindsey, Hector Jimenez and Peter Nelson.
twentystcenturychristian A brilliantly ridiculous b-movie style sci-fi which had my son and I almost in tears we laughed so much. Everything is so wonderfully unbelievable that there is no way you can take this as a serious horror, so just sit back and enjoy it for the masterpiece of ham horror I think it is. Eric Roberts (Will Butler in TV series Less than Perfect)shows what a truly underrated actor he is, playing the "it's-behind-you" script absolutely straight, without a hint of "I'm too good for this film". I can truly say this is without doubt the best worst film I've seen for a very long time. I'm sure it will become a cult-classic. BUT (now this is very important, so pay attention) make sure you watch it with company who will be able appreciate it for what it is, because anyone trying to watch it as a serious (horror/sci-fi) film will be disappointed and will most likely ruin your evening with silly comments about credibility - just point out that the film's title is a bit of a give-away at how credible the film is.
