Kirpianuscus If you like the genre, it is a choice. if not, it is predictable, unrealistic and far by title. a soldier and his revenge story. and nothing more. except Billy Zane lost in an ambiguous character skin. it is decent because it seems be more than a film around a pretext. the desire of actors to give a reasonable story is the lead good point. not enough . because the hilarious scenes and the desire to be touching not in the most inspired way.
Uriah43 "Sgt Brandon Beckett" (Chad Michael Collins) is a young non-commissioned officer in the United States Marine Corp who has been assigned to a United Nations command in the Congo to help deter rebel aggression. Unfortunately, when his squad is wiped out by a lone sniper during an evacuation mission, he feels guilt at being the only survivor and is determined to find and kill the man responsible. To do that, however, he not only must disobey orders but he also needs the assistance of a man named "Richard Miller" (Billy Zane) who served with his father many years ago. But unknown to either of them there is a traitor within the U.N. command which makes the odds against them even more difficult. Now rather than reveal any more I will just say that I thought that this was an adequate movie for the most part with a good overall plot and plenty of action. However, I thought that using a court-martial as an underlying theme was both rudimentary and unnecessary. But even so I thought that this film was slightly better than its predecessor and I have rated it accordingly. Average.
Bromiliad While the acting, directing and cinematography are okay, this movie is let down by a ridiculous story-line, poor dialogue and cheap production elements. The story is implausible. The protagonist is Sgt Brandon Beckett, son of MGSgt Thomas Beckett of the first three sniper films. As marine grunt, his squad is killed by a single sniper, so he becomes a sniper(seemingly overnight), goes AWOL and treks off into the bush to seek revenge. For some strange reason, Miller (Billy Zane) decides to go along for the ride. Brandon then goes on a killing spree, taking down numerous foes armed with assault rifles at point-blank range with a hunting rifle. I could list other ridiculous encounters in the film, but you get the picture. The costumes and make-up are cheap and inappropriate. (A renegade, AWOL marine is not going to walk around a Congolese town wearing a uniform and tactical gear, with sidearm whilst carrying a hunting rifle). For a military film, there are far too many technical failings for it to be in any way believable, it becomes frustrating. This film has no where near the production values of the original Sniper film. Claims that this films "outshines" Luis Llosa's Sniper are ridiculous, to say the least.
David Holt (rawiri42) Sniper Reloaded is a film about politics but apparently some of it's bloodthirsty reviewers expected some sort of African cowboy action movie! Well, for what its worth, they got one insofar that there was plenty of blood (one wonders about their mentality though).OK, this is a (relatively) low-budget movie with (for me) only one known actor (Zane) in it. I particularly noted that, for over half the cast, this is their only film credit. Well that made it real! Congolese people played Congolese people as they would be in the prevalent conditions. Kayla Privett, in her first (and only) acting role, portrayed a kid who's dad had been shot only a short while after their reunification. Maybe her youth and inexperience was a valuable asset in portraying a bewildered girl in a hostile environment. I hope she has a professional manager and we see more of her in the future. I wish that there was a bio for her on IMDb.In particular, I liked how Beckett (Collins) and especially Miller (Zane) did what they were supposed to do and actually hit their targets - no messing. This is a kill or be killed action - so they only had one chance. We (the viewers) weren't insulted by any of that crappy 'hero' stuff where the good guy gets into a big moralistic discussion with his target (except at the end where that was the plan anyway). When the hero, Brandon Beckett eventually faces the sniper, Masiello, he just shoots him in the face! There was nothing to discuss. Masiello knew why Brandon was there and Brandon knew why Brandon was there - end of story! I guess I'm sick and tired of movies where the protagonists do numerous death scenes when, given the number of bullets/sword wounds (or whatever), still come back for more. As I say, it insults the intelligence - and this film doesn't have any of that! Great!I also liked the inclusion of wildlife and scenic shots throughout the movie. That gave it realism and showed how political conflict and ambition are no respecters of location. Not a blockbuster by any means - did the producers ever expect it to be? Surely, if they did, then they would have used some big-name action stars like Bruce Willis and Jason Statham. I enjoyed it though.
