Torrin-McFinn77 I got this on my laptop and watched it for the first time. It was actually pretty good to be honest and I liked how David Warner (of Tron) played a supporting role. Some new faces and a new April O'Neil too made this interesting. As the Turtles get to Dr. Perry, the Shredder has other plans. It's not as good as the first TMNT, but it's pretty good. It's darker than the 1980s to 1990s cartoon but I'll bet that was part of the intention. It'd be closer to the Kevin Eastman/Peter Laird vision. And it worked. The origins of the teen heroes are also explored here. There are some weird moments but otherwise it's not bad.
pburton-21268 This movie is nothing but nostalgia. I have loved this movie since I watched it as a kid. The First and this film are amazing. The third one...doesn't belong.
Mr-Fusion When I was a kid, I much preferred "Secret of the Ooze" to the original "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles". Something about the Turtles' personalities just worked for me. And I clearly must've been huffing paint in my early years, because there's almost none of that here as an adult. It's not nearly as good as I remember, but on the other hand, it's not the brutal disappointment you'd expect in that situation. This isn't aggravating, just . . . meg. Gone is the dark edge of the first movie and this time it's played safe. Very family friendly (the foursome is largely weaponless). Their banter is also pretty flat, despite the energetic performances. I guess I didn't expect the humor to be so childish; I mean, I know this is Ninja Turtles, but the big scary bad guys are literally infants (complete with baby jokes). It's not terrible, but it really leaves you longing for (some of) the violence from the first movie. I miss the old April O'Neill, and I *really* miss Casey Jones.5/10
badfeelinganger In this sequel, which was rushed into theatres the year after the first film, the Turtles get in touch with a scientist named Jordan Perry (David Warner), who has access to the mysterious ooze that originally transformed them. Unfortunately, the Shredder has returned, and he wants the ooze to transform himself into an unbeatable opponent. The Turtles work to keep the Shredder from using the ooze. This is one of those rare sequels that actually lives up quite nicely to the original. While it's not as good as the first, it really had a shot to be almost its equal. In fact, I enjoyed this movie better than the first, until it swerved into this goofy night club dance sequence with Vanilla Ice.Still, the spirit of the comics and the cartoon is alive and well in "The Secret of the Ooze." It's also a good TMNT movie because it deals with the Turtles' origins, which always makes for some great storytelling. This lacks the darkness and subtlety that makes the first film so good, and so adult, but its simplified plot and gags will appeal to the under tens. The sequel plays things very safe
