a_baron "The Clinic" has been called a horror film, but sick is probably a better description. There is nothing supernatural about it but ultimately it is the things human beings do to each other that are really horrific. Set in 1979, this Australian film sees a heavily pregnant woman travelling through the Outback with the father of her soon to be born child. They check into a motel, he takes leave of her for awhile, and when he returns, she has disappeared. At this point and in view of his later actions, the viewer might be expecting him to rescue the damsel in the nick of time. Alas, he perishes in a car crash en route to do so. Meanwhile, she wakes up in a tub full of iced water minus her baby. The rest of the plot is equally sick, not to mention extremely implausible, although it is said to be based very loosely on true stories of infant abduction. Ironically and most sickeningly, not only is infant abduction a reality but so is foetal abduction; there have been a number of cases in recent years, perpetrated by lone, deranged women, perhaps most notably that of Julie Corey in the United States (where else?) who murdered her neighbour, cut out her baby, and tried to pass it off as her own."The Clinic" is not that gory, and the mastermind is not the usual villain, but unless you like depravity for the sake of it, best to give this one a miss.
Paul Magne Haakonsen "The Clinic" didn't really turn out to be worthwhile the time. It wasn't a scary movie, and it had a very silly storyline to it, which was attempted to be spiced up with some twist towards the end. The problem was that the twist turned out to be even worse than the movie had been up to that very point. The story in "The Clinic" is about a pregnant woman being abducted from a motel and she ends up in an abandoned abattoir along with a group of other women. They were all pregnant, but had their babies taken out from their bellies. And the women have to find out where their babies are and which baby belongs to which mother in a very gruesome manner.Storywise, then "The Clinic" wasn't particularly interesting or entertaining. The story just seemed a bit too far fetched, and there wasn't any sense of danger or real panic to be found amongst the women who were abducted and had their babies removed from their pregnant bellies.Actingwise, then people did good enough jobs with their roles, although there was a lacking sense of dread, panic and fear to be found here. Which I found odd, especially given the situation and predicament that the women were in.And the aspect of the story regarding the fiancée, was just cut short. That guy wasn't given much chance, nor was he really fully entwined into the storyline, and he was a side character, at best."The Clinic" was a dull and boring experience, and it is definitely not a movie that I will be watching again. It just didn't have anything worthwhile to captivate me.
Kyalie Was trying to find something on TV and ran across this. I enjoyed this movie way more than I thought I would. Had some intense and exciting scenes. It held my interest and that's not easy to do. I really thought this movie was well done. Some parts I couldn't even look at because it was a a bit gory. Also intense as well Definitely not a bad film The only thing I really thought was unbelievable was how strong the women were after having major surgery. Like when they were running from the dogs and when Beth was chasing Duncan. I would recommend this movie to anyone looking for something good to watch. This movie will not disappoint.
celr Somebody had an idea for a horror film and a location: an abandoned...what? some sort of industrial slaughterhouse? Anyway somebody let him use an industrial site for his movie. The idea was pretty dumb in itself but he went ahead anyway. Then he didn't know how to tell the story. Because he hadn't thought it out it didn't make any sense, but evidently he didn't care. He must have thought that having a six hysterical (pun intended), dumb, but attractive women running around trying to kill each other would be enough. The idea is that somebody is running a black market baby factory for rich clients by kidnapping pregnant women, removing their babies by cesarean section, and then having the bleeding, post-op mothers run around trying to kill each other to find out which one survives in the end. Presumably the surviving mom would have the best baby. (!) Nothing in this movie is believable. This is not a supernatural thriller which requires a willing suspension of disbelief. It is impossible to believe the fantastic plot, or the motivations of the operators, or the behavior of the women once they find themselves on the loose in the facility. Everybody does exactly the opposite of what any rational human being would do in similar circumstances. This is awful; don't see it. Not even if it's the last movie on earth and you're bored to death. Better death than watching this sloppy, ridiculous excuse for a horror film.
