Synopsis

(Long Synopsis) "This action-packed, fantasy-fueled family adventure – inspired by the revered literary Christian classic, The Pilgrim’s Progress – overflows with outrageous characters, special effects … and a moral message. In The Wylds, young Chris (Solomon Ray) is a runaway living with a group of other misfit kids in a junkyard, all under the watchful eye of a Dickens-esque character who forces them to steal to survive. When Chris is caught pilfering at a church, the pastor protects him from the police, then challenges him to find his estranged father. Chris bravely chooses to leave his family of thieves and ventures into the wilderness in search of a better life. Traveling through a post-apocalyptic future – his only hope lies in reaching a heavenly paradise that will surpass his wildest dreams – he outwits bandits, escapes swamp monsters, battles evil robots and learns valuable life lessons about choosing the right path."

jackparr-11645 I'm not usually so cynical, at least not about movies, but this has got to be one of the worst movies I've seen, ever. My parents got this in a 4-Pk of family DVDs (which was £4 at Tesco), and we decided to watch it for movie night. It was even worse than I thought (and it already looked bad on the packaging). Everything that could be wrong with the movie was wrong. The characters are so unsubtly named. CHRIS, FAITH and HOPE?! Chris is obviously, so obviously, an abbreviation of Christian. And Faith and Hope? Faith and HOPE? Really?!The storyline was awful. The set was awful. The acting was awful. The filming was awful. The effects were awful. The themes were awful. The dialogue was awful. The music score was awful. My parents told me to shut up and give it a chance, but eventually even they said it was terrible. The special effects looked like they were made in the 70s, or by a 9-year-old kid in Microsoft Paint. I watched up until the part where they were in ElectroCity and after that I refused to watch it because it was just SO BAD. Luckily this meant I didn't waste as much time as the rest of my family, but I still lost a decent 45 minutes of my life.Even if it's available for free, DO NOT buy it, ever. It's a complete waste of time and money. The movie also packages itself as a sort of Narnia remake, which is extremely and evidently untrue. In fact, it's heinous to compare such a pile of manure to a series of fabulous fantasy films. The only similarity is that both films are based on novels by highly famous Christian writers. The only people who write good reviews for this on here are either obsessed Christians, were involved in the making of the film, trying to fox you into buying it or just total pot-heads.Conclusion?DO NOT BUY THIS MOVIE EVER, UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES.
brooksl2 I like to think that I am quite open minded when it comes to films, so when my fiancé bought me this title for Christmas, stating that he thought it looked a little like Harry Potter from the cover (as I am a massive Harry Potter fan)I was willing to give it a go. On watching the film though, we found that the only similarities between it and Harry Potter were the fonts on the DVD cover. To call this a film is a gross exaggeration as from what I saw a rank amateur has got his/her hands on a camera and thought "I know, I'll film my mate running around the woods for 85 minutes, that'll be great entertainment". The acting, scenery, music and storyline were diabolical and the highlight for me was when I realised it was over. Comparing it to Narnia as it does on the box is nothing short of heinous. After watching about 20 minutes my fiancé and I found the most entertainment reading reviews of the film on here, so for these reasons if you have bought this DVD without reading the reviews here are a few uses for the disc, because under NO circumstances should you put it in your DVD player: 1. It serves as a good coaster (as pointed out by a previous review). 2. Put it in the microwave and watch the pretty colours. 3. Use it as a Frisbee. 4. Use under a wobbly table or chair leg to stabilise it, the disc is a good size for this. 5. Use as a handy compact mirror. In conclusion do not watch this film EVER, I have been cheated out of 85 minutes of my life that I will never get back, so I hope everyone else learns from my mistake and either does not buy it or if they have finds an alternative use for the disc.
xx-emilyy-xx I have never seen a more disappointing movie, i bought it from tesco thinking it would be a good children's fantasy adventure but when I started to watch it I realised it was the complete opposite. From the awful actors to the tacky costumes. I haven't got a clue what time zone it is meant to be because most of the adults have old fashion clothing like top hats but then there is robots and modern buildings. Scince when do cowboys happen to have two swords. I know £3 seems cheap but for this movie i felt very ripped of, my family and thought it was made by a drama club with a normal camera. My brother who is 7, my sister who is 10, me 14 and my mum and dad found it funny that it was so rubbish and tacky.
jo-121-501936 I didn't pay a huge amount for this DVD but still think I was ripped off. Yes, I grant that trying to make a modern film version of the Pilgrim's Progress, which after all is over 400 years old, was never going to be easy. However, sadly the message that should have been conveyed was beaten into submission by the truly appalling acting. And as for the "breathtaking" special effects - no one in my family saw any. On the plus side, I went to sleep for about 40 minutes in the middle of the film, thereby wasting less time than the rest of my family. My 6 year old didn't mind it too much, but my 11 year old said it was rubbish. Don't waste your time.
