jacobjohntaylor1 This is a a great movie. It is very scary., It has great story line. It also has great acting. It also has great special effects. The Trilogy of terror II is better. This scarier then the silences of the lambs could ever be.
poe426 Richard Matheson's PREY happens to be another of my favorite short stories (it's right up there with THE BIG SURPRISE, which was done as a fairly effective segment of NIGHT GALLERY, with John Carradine), and it makes one humdinger of a closing act in this trilogy. Every kid I knew could talk about nothing else the day after it aired; we relived the experience over and over. And we weren't the only ones who loved it: when the makers of GREMLINS needed inspiration, they fell back on Matheson's mini-masterpiece. It's understandable: it still holds up, after all these years... though I should point out that the score I've given this telemovie is for the PREY segment alone; the other two segments were less notable, in my ever-humble opinion. (Note: as a cabbie, I had a "regular" who tried to convince me once that she was someone else- her "twin sister," in fact- by donning a wig and acting differently, but I blew her cover when I asked to see her ID when she used a credit card to pay her fare. They're out there, folks...)
Brian T. Whitlock (GOWBTW) Karen Black really stands out in this movie of strange happenings. In "Trilogy of Terror", her personality really shines through. In the segment of "Julie", she may look like someone who is tried to her work. Just to say, don't let that look fool you. One student tried his best to make her a part of a scandal. Somehow, that plan backfires. BeBecause at the end, he ended up being the statistic, not her. In the segment of "Millicent and Therese", you deal with sisters: one's a prude, the other, a wild child. Dealing with family trauma, of course when the real deal is a female version of "Jekyll & Hyde". And the last segment is "Amelia". This one is classic! Here you got a woman with mother issues, after she buys a Zuni fetish doll, she called her. After the hang up, the gold chain falls off, without her knowing it. All of the sudden, the doll comes alive, and attack her savagely. This one tops it all. Made back in the mid 70's, it wasn't all that cheesy. It was simple though. Still not kid friendly. A good way to remember Karen. 3 out of 5 stars.
billcr12 Three stories in a Twilight Zone style, all featuring Karen Black, is a mildly amusing trilogy from 1975. Robert Matheson is the source material. Black is first Julie, a school marm college professor with hair pulled up into a bun and old fashioned eyeglasses. A student takes a liking to her and convinces the outwardly shy teacher to attend a drive in movie with him, where he drugs her and takes compromising pictures in order to force Julie into a relationship. She has a surprise ending, which is not a happy one. Black is both Millicent and Therese in the second story. Milly is a woman who presents a spinster image, and Therese is a blonde sex bomb in mini skirt. They despise each other and I figured it out very quickly. Number three is the most entertaining, as Emelia has returned home with a Zulu killer doll as a present for her boyfriend. On the phone, she tells mom that a scroll explains that the doll has an evil spirit which will be released if a gold chain is removed. Of course, the chain falls off and the little terror chases Black all over the place, with a sharp knife as a weapon. It is the best of the three and Ms. Black makes the seventy two minutes worthwhile.
