udell I worked on this movie from start to finish. I was the accountant, so feel free dismiss the following comments as you like. The original script by DanGordon was the funniest script I had ever read, and I was very excited to be able to work on the film. I then watched in dismay as each rewrite became less and less funny, removing many great bits and gags from the script. It was then shot in a way that was less funny than the shooting script which was not nearly as funny as the original script. And yet, it's still a funny and silly and damn enjoyable movie. All my children have enjoyed watching it and each of them has told me that it is their favorite movie (well, until they were 4 or 5 years old, after which they were too mature for it). Unusually, for a silly movie, there are many gags that grow on you over time and a film that you would THINK is only worth one viewing, actually gets more enjoyable every time you watch it.It was a great experience making the film in Thailand, and we got a lot of value there for a movie with quite a low budget. It was great working with the older Reyes and younger Reyes alike. The second unit director, Ernie Orsatti, was amazingly creative and contributed much to the movie. Rob Schneider, too, added a lot, both in the script development and on set.
dcohen726 Heres the thing you need to remember, this movie was made around the time of the TMNT series and 3 Ninjas. If anything this movie is a parody of those movies. Casting Rob Schneider, who was on Saturday Night Live at the time, makes it pretty evident that they had no intentions of making this a serious kids ninja movie. If that doesn't do it for you, how about the casting of Leslie Neilson who no doubt, before this movie, had done a ton of comedy movies. I'm sure the people who casted this movie has to ask everyone if they wanted to be in it, and explain it was a parody, otherwise they would have used people who weren't comedians. As a parody, I'd definitely would give this a great score, cause I have viewed and loved Ninja Turtles and 3 Ninja's when I was a kid. However, if for some crazy reason they wanted to make this a serious movie. They did a awful job. But like I said it was a comedy.
lainej5 OK!! It isn't the best written, directed or casted movie ever, but I enjoyed watching it. Maybe it isn't for everyone, but if you don't like cheap ninja movies that re-hash bad plots over and over then DUH you shouldn't have even started watching the movie to begin with. All I'm saying is that bad movies need some fans too and this movie made me laugh so hard I couldn't help but put it on my favorites list. No matter how good or bad the movie there will always be someone out there who either loves or hates it!! It's the people who don't stop complaining about the bad ones that get on my nerves, so love it hate it but remember that it doesn't really matter what you think to the next person who comes along.
Professor_Fate_86 People say this movie is awful, that is not true. You can't possibly compare movies like this to something by Spielberg, Kurosawa or Scorcese. They are made as nothing more than movies to just give you a good time. The same kind of movie is something like Commando, The Mask. They were never made with the intention of winning Oscars, setting new horizons, excelling in cinematography. They were made only for use to have a few laughs and a good time.Sure the plot is predictable. But I dare anyone to say they didn't laugh at Nielsen as the bumbling Colonel Chi, or a young Schneider as the wise cracking Iggy. The screenplay is excellent. "I'm now up el creeko, de merde". The fight scenes aren't up to the sort of standard you'd find in Chinese movies ala Young Master, Iron Monkey, but they are well above the standard fight scenes seen in movies even today. Due to the fact Ernie Reyes Sr, and Jr are competent fighters. This movie has all the components for an entertaining movie. Its short, its funny, it has action, its not violent, and is perfect for kids.I saw this movie in cinemas when it came out, and I since its DVD release, I felt I HAD to add it to my collection. This movie never disappointed. Hence, I don't rank this as anything other than a popcorn flick, in which case it gets a nice, big fat 8 from me.Barbara-Ann...classic.
