unemployedvirgin As a stand alone sequel, Undisputed 2 packs a punch similar to its predecessor. Although the title role of Iceman is changed, I felt Michael Jai White's performance was excellent for this film. No disrespect to Ving Rhames, but at his size a 300+ pound man would pull a muscle from throwing a couple sidekicks just for a montage training scene.I liked how Jai White even mimicked Ving's personality traits in his voice delivery and overall performance, staying true to the protagonists routes. Scott Adkins really shined in this film though, the character of Yuri Boyka is now synonymous with a cult following for ''The Most Complete Fighter In The World''. Just YouTube Adkins' choreography for the Wolverine film and you'll see the dedication this stud has. Similar to Tom Hardy's approach of a physical actor, Scott bulked up for the role with a healthy enough body fat percentage to still pull off those signature back-flips.Ben Cross deserves a lot of credit in the supporting role, reminded me of a slimmer Liam Neeson with his approach at playing Steven Parker. By now everyone has grown to love the soundtrack with its trademark music. What really enhanced the film's gritty look was the constant use of darker tones of blue and green throughout the prison. Creating the effect of a dark and dingy chasm that sets the perfect backdrop for controlled aggression. This is a man's movie in my opinion, no girly emotional ties or cheesy romantic kisses, just Muay-Thai and Jujitsu for the win. Enjoyable film that promises bloody fights whilst trying to stay true to the martial arts. Only reason I didn't rate it a 10 was because I wanted there to be more gory action and profanity, but that's just me. Looking forward to viewing the 3rd instalment.
S_Craig_Zahler spoilers are not about the plot.apparently people on IMDb don't care if the fights scenes are sped up. like (dacascos) drive, this movie fizzled every time a fight happened, due to sped up photography that makes everything feel phony...and comedic. just look at the crowd in the background-- they move like limited 70s animation.the narrative works better than i was expecting, and has a few touching moments, but every fight scene is disappointing. jump cuts hide missed impacts. slow motion and undercranking hide the speed of the live performance.adkins is an amazing kicker with great form, but the moment i see a bunch of sped up stuff, i'd rather be watching buster keaton or harold lloyd than a martial arts movie.
Pagero Marrero Michael jai white should be as famous as van damme and tony ja. He definitely under rated. I don't think hes the best actor but when it comes to action; this man delivers in all his movies even SPAWN; if you remember that movie. SCOTT Atkins did good as well. I became a fan of his instantly after this film. I watch some of his other films as well but his acting was too off. However his roll as Boyka in this movie and especially Undisputed Part 3 was PERFECT. His accent was well played off. I could not believe he talks American in his regular voice. The story in this movie was different and easy to follow. I give a 10 just because of that. Its not the same oh same oh. If you like martial arts Scott and Michael did their thing in this one. If you are not familiar with either of these two, you will be after watching this one.
sveknu This movie shows that it's still possible to make a decent action movie in the 2000s. Martial arts movies like this had it's glory in the late 80's and 90's, with tons of titles of both great, good, mediocre, bad and terrible quality. In the 2000's action movies in general and the sub-genre of martial arts movies became more and more rare, especially the good ones. This movie is an exception. It's really hardcore, and the fight scenes are great. I hadn't seen anything even remotely similar to lots of the moves and action in this movie. Ever. It's really that great. Michael Jai White was born to do this kind of thing, and Scott Adkins was also terrific. A Russian prison was a perfect backdrop for this kind of movie. Great stuff, now bring on Undisputed 3!
