Michael Ledo Vamps is a chick flick. It would most likely get a five star review at a Taylor Swift concert. Alicia Silverstone and Krysten Ritter play two vampires in the modern dating era. Alicia dates back to the 1840's and has trouble adjusting to modern gadgets, while Krysten is at home with them. Both of the women develop love interests. Alicia meets an old boyfriend (Richard Lewis) from the 1960's while Krysten falls for a man named Van Helsing (Dan Stevens) who has a father who hunts vampires. The Vamps are part of a support group who only drink animal blood. The jokes consist of mostly lame vampire humor such as women attempting to apply make-up without a mirror. There is one scene where Alicia is looking through pictures of old boyfriends. One of the pictures is Edgar Allen Poe. There were some scenes that worked and were funny. Unfortunately too much of the film had humor and scenes that didn't make it for a mature audience. Definitely only a rental. A sometimes fun film you might want to see once.Parental Guide: 1-f-bomb, implied sex, no nudity.
threestarandsevenlip As I begin myself by saying that I have finished watching this movie on 12/22/2015 on Tuesday at around 11:50 pm. As I have not watched more than 5 or 6 vampire related movies so far but Let me tell you that this movie is little bit or quite different than What I have seen before in Vampire related movies. So as the rating suggest 5.1 stars on IMDb.com , according to me this movie deserves more than that so I have given it 8******** stars. This movie has all the elements of comedy, romance and friendship in an adequate proportion to make it work as an entertainment package . This movie is not even a bit boring from any angle. This movie is under rated on IMDb.com according to me.As I have read on the discussion board on IMDb.com about the quality of special effects used in this movie is bad, yes, it is bad according to 2012 level, but if you will follow the time period used in the movie than the special effects get justified .Oh, one more thing follow the different time periods (timelines) given in the movie (at some places) and everything will fit into its place and I'm not going to reveal anything about the movie and just want to add that both the leading actress were really great and amazing in their role. So, just watch it and entertain yourself and I'm sure of one thing that the movie is funny and romantic. This is my third review for a movie on IMDb.com and I'm glad that I wrote my feeling about it.For me its 8********.
Terryfan It's hard to really consider a vampire film or any kind of film for that matter.Vamps centers around two female vampires Goody played by Alicia Silverstone and Stacy played by Krysten Ritter as they go through lives as vampires living in New York. But they are under serves to Cisserus played by Sigourney Weaver the woman who made them vampires and honestly how much did they play Sigourney to play this character? I mean come on. Cisserus is support to be our film main villain but she just the stereotype where she is passion about the newest clothes and what have you and she is pretty much serious really?Stacy while going to college meets a young man named Joey played by Dan Stevens who unknown to her is the son of Dr.Van Helsing played by Wallace Shawn.Dr.Van Helsing later begins a quest to rid the city of vampires which leads to problems with Joey and Stacy.I mean how can this be called a vampire film? Seriously? First off the only "vampire" that does what we know Vampires to do is Cisserus. Goody and Stacy do have vampires but they only drink rat blood. But seriously it's hard for me to take this film seriously.I mean the characters hardly are interesting or even worth the screen time they have. The plot of the film is pretty much the same thing we seen in any love comedy but they thought putting vampires which are pretty much ugh by the way they are hardly vampires in this film. They pretty much people with problems as vampires but come on.It's just that kind of film where you like or hate me It is just impossible to mind anything worth your while in this film.Only watch it if you're curious but it just not for me or any real vampire film it just a insult.I give VAMPS an 3 out of 10
phd_travel This vampire comedy is very witty, cute and laugh out loud funny. There were so many jokes and original ones too. More subtle humor than the Leslie Nielsen spoof movie with Mel Brooks which is a bit obvious.Amy Heckerling of Clueless directs this winner. Alicia is her charming self and Kriten Ritter is her sidekick. Good supporting cast from Sigourney Weaver (why doesn't she do more comedy - she's so funny) to Downton Abbey's Dan Stevens. This should have been a box office hit - don't understand why it more or less went to DVD.Watch it!
