Sean_not_seen I honestly don't even know where to start. I can't stop raving about this show to all of my friends that like animated comedies. Already, with only 1 season under its belt, the show surpasses Rick and Morty, in my opinion. I love R&M, but JASA is its own entity.Jeff - a lazy, greasy, moderately overweight, 29 year old male with a minimum wage job working at a smoothie stand in a mall - is our protagonist. From that description, most people would wonder what's so special about Jeff. Exactly! The fact that he isn't special at all is what makes him so special. Jeff would go on living the most average life possibly if not for "some Aliens." Sammy, Jimmy, and Ted are three space-travelers sent to study Jeff and report their findings - thus determining if Earth will remain, or be destroyed in a fiery ball of human mass extinction. The misfortune motif of Jeff, brought on by the aliens, is what makes this show so creative and hilarious. The aliens usually think that they are helping Jeff when they are actually making his life a living nightmare. And while the aliens are a huge part of the show, along with Jeff obviously, the wide array of side characters all shine in their own ways. Linda, Jeff's ex that he still hasn't gotten over, is caring but tired of Jeff's immaturity. Stanley, Jeff's father, played by the lovable Richard Kind, is a nice representation of a typical upbringing of a loving parent. Jeff works with two idiots at the smoothie shop that are used just enough to be funny and not overbearingly obnoxious and annoying. Jeff's boss is a hard-head gym junkie with a quick temper. The list goes on, but each character is anything but an overused archetype. The show is something I've never before, and I'm an avid couch potato. Watching "Earth's Most Average Guy" deal with these overly-optimistic aliens who bring pervasive turmoil to Jeff's existence, while trying to navigate his own substandard life, is what keeps the show so entertaining throughout each individual episode. The viewer really starts to root for the everyman underdog. Mirroring real life, good and bad things happen to Jeff. While it may seem like the show defaults after the credits roll for every episode, the beauty of the craft of the show is that Jeff does evolve and actually learn his lesson. The show is not too crass, and uses its moderate vulgarity not too shock, but to be frank and relatable. Jeff masturbates a lot. What 29 year old single male doesn't? The show is never "in your face" and "trying too hard" to be funny. It's naturally humorous while simultaneously being immensely entertaining. I hope this show is given additional seasons, as it would be a crime to cancel before it can spread to the audience that it's bound for. Witty, sometimes outrageous, and consisting of flawed yet lovable characters, Jeff & Some Aliens deserves to be seen by any sci-fi, comedy, and/or cartoon fan.10/10 - Animated Masterpiece
creicher-21351 I remember watching clips of this show on another show called TripTank on Comedy Central and was pleasantly surprised to see it got it's own spin-off. I would have to agree that this show is similar to Rick and Morty and I could not be any happier. All of the episodes are written well, but the last two episodes of Season 1 are golden. I've watched both of them at least 5x over and I'll continue to watch every episode until Season 2 comes out. I think Brett Gelman is perfect for this role and his exceptional performance is witnessed in each episode. Keep up the great work. Thank you!!
sachinr-99726 Where are all the people? Why is there not one review of this show yet? I'm the first one to write it.Plots are intriguing and keeping me on edge of my seat throughout the whole episodes. Little bit of laugh here and there, and even brilliant dialogues sometimes.Rick and Morty is praised to death while nobody is talking about this show. Although I get same vibe and entertainment from it.If you haven't checked this out and is wanting to see some new comic Sci-Fi similar to Rick and Morty, this is your stop. I watched all 4 episodes of season 1 in 1 sitting. Hope writers keep on writing brilliantly and it doesn't get axe. Hope this turns into something bigger.
Matias Heskestad I seen commercials about this show on Comedy Central. I thought it would be an edgy and boring thought out drink beer to show, but a lot of the things in this show are genius. I enjoy the original grotesque cartoon style for one... and the situations relate to real life and this all works around one protagonist. The thing that stood out to me the most is you can even learn something new and important from the episodes that pertain to our everyday situations and you should sometimes read deep into the episode meanings. I say, this is a fresh start to a new series of raunchy comedy animation. I highly recommend this. I really hope there will be newer scenarios to this show. I have to say it has a little bit of South Park influence to it. Overall, I cannot say more to it, but check this show out. You will be refreshed, and you would want to watch more.
