Rahul First of all, i would like to say that every character in the movie has acted brilliantly. Hats off to Ayan Mukherjee. Ranbir Kapoor (Sid) has done a wonderful role. He carries the role effortlessly. Konkona Sen Sharma (Aisha) has done a great job . There are some instances in the movie where you feel a bit emotional, but you enjoy it, as it is a movie which describes the life of the present young generation......it is an enjoyable movie....i really loved it....
Sagar Bhatt Wake Up Sid has a storyline similar to several Bollywood films. It revolves around a love story, but it has a unique way of showing it.I think of the movie as the average Bollywood blockbuster. But at the same time, I can't deny having enjoyed it. It has big actors which most viewers already know of, like Anupam Kher. It follows a predictable story: two people fall in love, and they eventually propose to each other, and the movie ends. And of course, contrary to Indian soap operas, the movie revolves around ordinary people that the audience can relate to.In a sentence, the movie's about how the immature son of a rich businessman learns to be mature from an independent writer from Calcutta, and how the two of them then fall in love. The themes that Wake Up Sid concerns are only too similar to themes that Bollywood films have already discussed several times in the past: Rich vs. Poor, Love Conquers All, Mature vs. Immature, and a few other social and personality themes. At times, the movie felt over-dramatic. I don't know what to say. It is not a Hollywood movie, though it's trying to be. It's not a unique movie like Taare Zameen Par that faces unique issues rarely/never discussed before in Bollywood films. It truly is an average film. But I'm giving it 9/10 stars because it's something that I enjoyed. So I'd recommend you watching it.
Venkatesh Iyer I recently got an opportunity to watch this movie on a DVD and I was not disappointed. This movie connects with you immediately because of its very realistic script and could relate to the movie immediately. Ayan Mukherjee's effort in movie making is worth mentioning, He has a very simplistic yet unique way of story telling and helps us connect to the characters within a flash. His the Dil Chahta hai esque style of movie making fascinates! The cast is very well chosen as they suit the bill perfectly. Ranbir has done a great job depicting Sid. But you come out of the movie with Konkana playing with your mind. She is very refreshing and yet again proves she is one of the finest actors in India. Supriya Pathak plays her part to perfection. The music of the movie is worth mentioning.Iktara is the song you'd be humming for the next couple of days! Don't miss it ! Worth having a DVD watch!
lamiaaos Wake up Sid is a movie with a simple plot, a typical love story and a predictable ending...an average movie - WRONG!I stumbled upon this movie while surfing the net and decided to give it a try; and I'm more than pleased that I did. Everything about this movie just made me love it. Maybe it was the realistic script, the believable emotions portrayed by the every actor and not just the leads, or maybe it was the fairytale journey we're taken on throughout every second of this film. There were glitches here and there in the acting and the background score, but the film's beauty redeems it of all that. I was in a rut at the start of this movie, but by the end of it I must say I was pretty much in a euphoric state. The casting was perfect, from Chottu the servant, to Sid and Aisha the lead roles. Everyone seemed to fit perfectly into this picture perfect cast. Everything about this movie was pretty average, but when put together they made something that wasn't quite so average - a stunningly beautiful piece of work. The thing that struck me the most was just how raw and believable all the emotions were - from the unconditional love between a mother and son, to the forgiveness of a friend we've hurt. At some point of this movie, it stopped being a movie and started feeling more like your own life. Who of us couldn't picture ourselves as Sid, the guy looking to get something out of life more than just the fun parts; or Aisha, the ambitious girl trying to start a life of her own. Every scene was just so refreshing that you simply don't want this movie to end.By the end of the film and as the credits roll, I found myself smiling for no apparent reason, but this movie just made me feel so...happy, ecstatic even. This movie is just what a romantic comedy should be like and who better than bollywood to show us how it's done. 7/10
