callanvass Live from Mobile, ALAttendance 5,000Your commentators are Jim Ross & Jessie VenturaLight Heavyweight Championship'Flyin' Brian Pillman Vs Scotty FlamingoFlamingo is Raven. Anyways, Flamingo wins the title. This was a solid opener. It's hampered a bit by a couple of slow spots, but this is a fun match for the most part. It had some great drama near the end. **3/4 out of 5Ron Simmons Vs Terry TaylorSimmons wins with a powerslam. This match was nothing special. These two didn't have great chemistry out there. It was kind of clashing of styles as well. I didn't hate it, but I didn't particularly care for it either.*3/4 out of 5Marcus Bagwell Vs Greg 'The Hammer' ValentineValentine wins by submission with the Figure Four. I'm happy Valentine won, but he was kind of past his prime at this juncture. Bagwell was never a truly great wrestler either. As a result, this match was mediocre.*1/2 out of 5Falls Count AnywhereSting Vs Cactus JackSting wins. I enjoyed this match very much. Mick Foley is a master at these types of matches and Sting was his perfect match. It's not quite as good as Cactus's Falls Count Anywhere match with Vader at Halloween Havoc in 93, but it's pretty good.***1/4 out of 530 Minute Iron Man Match'Ravishing' Rick Rude Vs Ricky 'The Dragon' SteamboatSteamboat wins 4 falls to 3. This was a very good match for the most part. Aside from some boring rest holds, these two wrestled their asses off for 30 minutes and put on one hell of a show with some great back and forth action.I was very impressed. ***1/2 out of 5'Stunning' Steve Austin, Bobby Eaton & Arn Anderson Vs Nikita Koloff, Dustin Rhodes & Barry WindhamThe team of Koloff, Rhodes & Windham win the match by DQ. Well, all that for nothing. The finish really angered me. I get that you had to be protective, but a clean finish would have been nice. The match was rather disjointed and all over the place. ** out of 5Ricky Steamboat is interviewed by Eric Bischoff. Paul E. Dangerously interrupts and claims Steamboat will never get another United States title shot again. Cactus Jack attacks Steamboat from behind and gets into a big brawl with him. Tag Team ChampionshipThe Steiner Brothers (C) Vs 'Dr. Death' Steve Williams & Terry GordyThey fight to a 30 minute time-limit draw. Both teams worked hard, but this was TOO long and rather slow at some points. All that for that inane finish? It really angered me. I also question why this was chosen as the main event. Sting and Cactus Jack should have gone last.**3/4 out of 5

BigSmoke64 The 1992 Beach Blast was a pretty good event. There were many good matches, a few OK matches and some very bad matches. Far and away the best match of the night was the Iron Man Match between Rick Rude and Ricky Steamboat. The main event sucked as it was for the WCW Tag Titles and the match itself was bad. Scott Stenier and Rick Stenier vs. Terry Gordy and Steve Williams. It lasted half an hour. One 30 minute Iron Man Match was enough we didn't need another 30 minute match especially with Scott Stenier who could lose in a race against an ant. Below I have the top 3 matches and the bottom 3 matches.Top 3: 1. Rick Rude vs. Ricky Steamboat 2. Sting vs. Cactus Jack 3. Scitty Flamingo vs. Brian PillmanBottom 3: 1. The Steniers vs. Terry Gordy and Steve Williams 2. Dusty Rhodes, Dustin Rhodes, Barry Windham and Nikita Koloff vs. The Dangerous Alliance 3.Greg Valentine vs. Marcus BagwellOverall it was a pretty good but like a lot of WCW PPV's it had to many bad matches.
Big Movie Fan In my opinion WCW from the mid 80's up to about late 1992 had a fine roster full of talented wrestlers such as Ric Flair, Ricky Steamboat, Lex Luger, Barry Windham, Arn Anderson and the late Flyin' Brian. On weekly programmes such as WCW Saturday Night and WCW Worldwide they kept us entertained in unpredictable and exciting matches. However, at times WCW PPV's were pretty average. It was not down to the wrestlers-WCW had some disorganized people running things at times. Also, one area WCW was always weak in was promoting and hyping their PPV events. Beach Blast 1992 was not hyped very well back in 1992.The card itself was well above average. There are three matches that really stand out. Sting faced Cactus Jack in a falls count anywhere match. Cactus Jack was always a maniac who cared nothing for his body or welfare and this added to the entertainment. Ricky Steamboat faced the late Rick Rude in a 30 minute Iron Man match; it was awesome at times. In the other great match, the late Flyin' Brian battled the arrogant Scotty Flamingo in a decent opener.Beach Blast 1992 was okay but it was devoid of hype. A good wrestling show has to be hyped for it to be any good. This is what sets apart a good wrestling card from an average one.
