rayyanfarooqy This Wrestlemania probably had the best card in Wrestlemania history however failed to Live up to its expectations. The Ronda Rousey match was the best, followed by the triple threat and Asuka vs Charlotte. Rest of all the matches were disappointing. Cena vs Undertaker was never really promoted but it was still better than AJ Styles vs Nakamura which was going to be the show stealer. And Brock Vs Roman match was just finishers and blood.

bh_tafe3 Well, Ronda Rousey made Steph tap, Nicholas had a Big Day Out and Brock retained to widespread apathy at a 5 hour WrestleMania that burned out the crowd long before the end came.I'm skipping the pre show which included a men's battle royal won by Matt Hardy,a women's battle royal won by Naomi and a Cruiserweight Championship match won by someone you've probably never heard of and don't care about because no one watches 205 Live (though the show is quite good these days). The night proper started off very strongly with two excellent matches. First was a Triple Threat match for the Intercontinental Title, the champion (and new father: congratulations!) Miz putting the belt on the line against Finn Balor and Seth Rollins. They have a fast and fun match that went for 10-15 minutes and was won by Seth. Perfect opener. Next up saw Charlotte Flair retain the SD Women's Championship in a great match, arguably the best of the night, against Asuka, ending her 200+ match winning streak in the process. A few people annoyed by Charlotte ending the streak, but personally I've always felt that you need to end long winning streaks before you put the belt on someone. It just detracts from the title reign otherwise. Case in point: Bill Goldberg. And Charlotte has earned her spot as the top woman in the company and lost the title to Carmella two days later on SD, so stop complaining.In a comedy piece, John Cena, who'd made a series of challenges to the Undertaker coming into the event and was sitting in the crowd, not officially booked for a match, gets a message from a referee and sprints out the back. Looks like Taker is in the building.Next up we have a 4 way match for the US Title, Champion Randy Orton putting it on the line against Bobby Roode (whose WM debut this was) JInder Mahal and Rusev. They have a short match to calm the crowd down. Mahal pins Rusev and that's about it. Next we have the real Main Event and it delivered big time as former UFC fighter Robda Rousey made her in ring debut teaming with Kurt Angle against triple H and Stephanie McMahon. This. Was. Great. All 4 looked great and Rousey's greenness was well hidden. Satisfying end as she hits a brutal looking arm bar on Steph forcing het to tap.Next up we had another calm-the-crowd match as the Bludgeon Brothers squashed New Day and the Usos to win the SD tag titles. Then we had our comedy piece as John Cena came to the ring for his match with Taker. Lights went out Elias came out instead. After a brief concert from the Drifter, Cena kicked his ass, Then out comes Taker and Cena spends the nest 3 minutes bumping around like a cartoon character, complete with doubling back in shock and falling over after the Undertaker sat up following his only offensive move of the match, This was a match you would expect Bobby Heenan to have with the Undertaker, not John Cena. Complete waste of time.Next up we have Daniel Bryan coming back after 3 years out with injury, teaming up with Shane McMahon against Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens. This was a good match, but they made a bad mistake with the booking with hurt the crowd reaction. Bryan was taken out early and the crowd died for 10 minutes as Shane went 1 on 2 against the heels. And, while Bryan got a nice reaction when he tagged in and ultimately forced Zayn to submit to the Yes Lock, it was not what it could have been.Next up Nia Jax defeated champion Alexa Bliss to win the RAW Women's Championship in a perfectly acceptable match. AJ Styles and Sinsuke Nakamura than had what was, technically speaking, the best match of the night, though I feel it should have gone at least 3 minutes longer with a few more bear falls to really build to the finish. The match was criticized for not living up to their Wrestle Kingdom classic, but I question how many in WWE's audience know what Wrestle Kingdom is, let alone what type of match they had there. Anyway, Styles wins with a Styles Clash. Nakamura then turns heel, low blowing Styles after handing him the belt. This was awesome.Next we had a waste of time, Braun Strowman picking a kid out of the audience named Nicholas to team with him so he could win the RAW Tag titles from Sheamus and Ceasaro on his own. Both guys deserved better.Brings us to the main event in which Brock Lesnar, in a big surprise, retained the RAW Championship against Roman Reigns in a good match. But the real story was the crowd's utter apathy to what was going on. Chants of "Bring Back NIcholas", "This is Awful" and "We Want Beach Balls" rang out. No one reacted at all when Reigns kicked out of an F5 for the first time, a spot they'd been building for a year. Like I said though, it was actually a pretty good match. Reigns bumped like a mad man and got busted open by an elbow. Lesnar's frustration at Reigns' resilience was well conveyed. This crowd wanted none of Reigns and then popped big time for Brock's eventual win. And they were smart about it. Rather than booing him, they just ignored him and ruined the match, which creates a lot more issues for the WWE aesthetically and may actually force a rethink about how they're using Reigns. Decent show, went downhill after the mixed tag. They killed the crowd at the start of the Daniel Bryan match and never really won them back from there on.

powermandan WrestleMania. The show of shows. The greatest night in entertainment. The night when everybody is supposed to deliver their all. Unfortunately, it did not.I am very easy to please with what WWE does. In this case, I reacted almost as bad as someone who loves NJPW. Right away, the show (including the kick-off show) equalled 7 hours. So much exhaustion and burnout can happen in even a shorter span. I know WWE wants Mania to stand out as more epic and more important, but it should be much shorter like in years before. Because of its length, fans were burnt out which diminished the qualities of some of the matches. I will always voice this complain until changes are made!First off was the Andre the Giant battle royal. I am a sucker for battle royals and Bray returning to align with winner "Woken" Matt was cool, but this wasn't as great as I was expecting. But good nonetheless. 7.5/0Next was Mustafa Ali against Cedric Alexander for the vacant cruiserweight championship. The long lasting tournament had better matches in it than this. Seemed more like a decent match on 205 Live. Cedric won and rightfully so. 7/10Last of the pre-show was the Women's battle royal. A little dull like the men's but the booking was bad. Naomi hasn't been seen in almost the whole match and returns at the very end to win? Makes no sense. 6.5/10First on the main card was Miz defending the intercontinental title against Finn Balor and Seth Rollins. I really, really wanted Finn to come out in his demon paint (it's wrestlemania for god's sakes!) but the match was pretty good. Seth won and is now a grand slam champion. 8/10Smackdown women's champion Charlotte goes against the unbeatable Asuka. Asuka was the winner of the first women's royal rumble and jobs out to Ric Flair's daughter. Made no sense. It pissed me off. Not that Asuka's monumental streak came to an end or that it was Charlotte that did it, the rumble suddenly became irrelevant and Charlotte has nothing to gain out of it. Why not hand it to a diva who needs a revival or an NXT girl? This good match sunk because of the booking. 6.5/10Next was for the US title. Jinder Mahal bested Randy Orton, Bobby Roode and Rusev. Although I do think Jinder's hatred by people is a bit much, I do agree he was not a good pick. Why doesn't WWE just admit their Jinder experiment flopped? Anyway, the match was good. 7/10"Rowdy" Ronda Rousey makes her WWE in-ring debut in a mixed-tag team match with Kurt Angle against Triple H and Stephanie McMahon. Two REAL fighters against a one-match-a-year wrestler (Triple H) and a BUSINESSWOMAN (Stephanie, the boss's daughter!) did not jell together very well in my book. I've never been one for mixed tag team matches, but this was different. Since WWE does not do inter gender matches, they usually try to treat mixed tag team bouts like two matches in one. But this seemed like they wanted to make it a normal tag team bout. Ronda did shine, but I blame Hunter and Stephanie for the match not being as good as the others. 6.5/10For the Smackdown tag team titles, Usos went up against New Day and Bludgeon Brothers. Before the match even started, New Day came out with little people in pancake outfits. The idea was for laughs. It was downright offensive! Just goes to show WWE's hypocrisy with bullying. Bludgeon brothers won in a short squash match. I don't mind squash matches, but a triple threat tag team?? 5/10Undertaker finally accepts John Cena's challenge. Throughout the night, the camera kept cutting over to reactions to Cena in the audience as a fan (a big flaw of the night). After Cena took care of Elias who took advantage of the situation, Taker came out and he looked great! It was short and John botched a boot to the face, but I was a sucker for this. 8/10Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn were against Shane McMahon and a returning Daniel Bryan. The latters won with great emotion in a nice match. 8/10For the Raw women's title, gigantic Nia Jax beat her former best friend Alexa Bliss. Like the last few Manias, the build-up wasn't good. But the build up for this was excellent. And the booking made sense! 8/10Raw tag team champions, The Bar, went up against Braun Strowman and a kid (referee John Cone's son) Nicholas whom he seemingly randomly picked from the crowd. It was funny, but they should have used Braun's mystery partner as the way to bring back Lashley like they did tonight on Raw. Made better sense that way. But I'm not upset. It was kinda nice to see this kid shine. 7/10Roman Reigns and Brock Lesnar closed the show. Brock has made the universal title irrelevant and meaningless. Plus he doesn't deserve to have held it for over a year. Not to mention his matches are one-sided with him doing 15 German-suplexes with an F5. Their first Mania match was a dud, but this sucked! The tired crowd bashed it. Coming from someone who saw it fresh, it certainly did suck! Brock did 2 moves (sometimes he did belly-t-belly, but it is still nearly the same thing) and Roman also did two! Roman always does more moves! Brock miraculously added a third move by the end (elbow strikes) which busted Roman open. Brock won. I would have been all for Brock winning if I knew he would show up more than a couple times a year. Put all that aside, the match was awful. 3/10Total: 6/10
