David Tate I'm a fan of various Hanna Barbera cartoons as well as certain live action adaptations of cartoon shows. However, I can easily say that this is awful beyond recognition for many reasons: the story is extremely weak, the characters are utterly nothing, the humor is weak and nothing to run home about, the dialogue is horrendous, there's nothing really that special about this film, a lot of the dialogue is laughable, there are way too many characters that aren't that memorable (except Yogi, Boo-Boo and Ranger Smith) and worst of all, William Hanna and Joseph Barbera died before this film was even thought of. I sat in the theater in total disbelief and I couldn't believe that this even greenlit. I know that there are fans of this film, but I totally disagree. The only thing that I'll give credit to is that Justin Timberlake and Dan Aykroyd are fine as our main characters. That's the only positive thing I can say about it.
euanjb I have never watched the TV series but i have seen this movie a lot. It is very funny until the human romance starts which is so awkward. Everybody and everything is very funny till that point and they definitely gave Yogi and Boo boo enough jokes but the Humans sadly mean this film isn't quite perfect.
Matt Lincoln Do not agree with some of the reviews written below, I loved this film. So it may not have a completely original plot but I've got to say that I enjoyed every minute. I thought the cast all played a brilliant part and made the movie a real enjoyable watch. It had moments of great excitement and lots of laughs.Having watched the Yogi Bear cartoon in the past, this made a welcome revisit to Jellystone and the lovable Yogi and Boo Boo.Whether you're a child now, or at heart you're bound to love this film.Recommended for allBuy now!
Twodude Review When reviewing a family movie, I look at it a few different ways: first, is it appropriate for my three kids; second, is it entertaining to me and my kids; and third, is there a decent storyline. I didn't see Yogi Bear in theaters and I am glad I didn't spend money, for a family of five, on tickets and concession items that go with taking my family to a big screen showing. However, I think this is one of the more appropriate and enjoyable family movies that I have seen in years. Yogi made me laugh and it was just long enough to keep my kids attention for the entire movie. The story line is basic and not to deep, which helps to keep the kids' attention. As a dad, I appreciate not having to explain everything to them and am able to enjoy the movie myself. I thought Dan Aykroyd's voice work on Yogi was over acted and made to sound like the cartoon I grew up on, but after a few scenes you get used to it. Justin Timberlake, as you would expect him to be, was funny voicing Boo Boo. Tom Cavanagh, as the abused Ranger Smith, was a clean cut likable character similar to the character he portrayed on the T.V. show ED, on which he starred. Anna Faris's part although limited, fit in the movie's overall context. T.J Miller, Nathan Corddry and Andrew Daly were entertaining fodder to Yogi's antics.I watched this movie with my kids and I can't remember a part where at least one of them was not laughing. To me, that's all you can ask for in a family movie; no swearing, no violence, just good old fashioned Yogi Bear Fun. This is a movie that I will be buying for the collection.Grade: A+visit our site at www.twodudereview.com
