Synopsis

Deep in the Alaskan wilderness lives a newly discovered family who was born and raised wild. Billy Brown, his wife Ami and their seven grown children – 5 boys and 2 girls – are so far removed from civilization that they often go six to nine months of the year without seeing an outsider. They’ve developed their own accent and dialect, refer to themselves as a "wolf pack," and at night, all nine sleep together in a one-room cabin. Simply put, they are unlike any other family in America. Recently, according to the Browns, the cabin where they lived for years was seized and burned to the ground for being in the wrong location on public land.

Reviews

Barry Gran If the Browns are phony's as some of you say, than why would they be messing with their health? Bad teeth to a point of risking their lives. Billy's problems. Snow Bird's teeth, What did they do get them worked on to have them look bad or missing. There is some not real in everything we do and what reality show doesn't get paid for their affords? We enjoy watching the show very much. Some of the conditions their working in aren't fit for a bear none the less for them and the camera crew. I hope that the Discovery channel finds a way to keep the show on for a few more years. Time will tell. Besides it's not our business to know the private events that happened to their in their personal lives.
carolhudson-05736 The music is way too loud! I would like to see you lower the volume of music so that we can hear the vocal from each episode. I would rather hear the vocal part of the program instead of the actual vocal part of the program. Please make the musical part a background part of the series and let us hear the vocal part of the program. I love the program but oftentimes the music is way too loud to understand what is being said. I hope you will read this review and understand what is important here.....we need to understand what is being said. It is important to know what is being said so that we can understand the lifestyle this family is trying to relay.
dperry-51510 To Believe or Not to Believe that is the question? Truthfully, I find the show refreshing. Regardless, if it is a true depiction of how people/families live off the grid in Alaska, or if the family has been charged with a crime. As many Americans families have lives that are full of deceit and untruth. In addition, there are many Americans that will go to extreme lengths to make/get money where they can for survival. If the Government passes out free Money there are many Americans that will stand in line with their hand out regardless if they qualify or not. So to hold that against a family that has seen struggles, I guess then each and ever person that has used the same system to get free money for survival should be held accountable. Fact they (The Browns) admitted to the crime, and paid the price. I believe that the show should now use that as a lesson and build that story line in the show, use it as a teaching tool for others. This family shows the value of family relationship and how important it is for a family to work/stick together. It shows a two parent family that will go to any length to make sure the family is taken care of. Something you don't see too often theses days. Especially on reality TV. The Value/fabric of a close net family/Relationship has been destroyed over the years. This family leaves a little hope that a good family relationship still exists and are willing to go to any length to stay together and maintain that family bond. P.S. It is a film production, so there are going to be things that may seem unreal or a little far fetched. That's just the nature of film.
crissyvelazquez I love the Browns. I don't care how much is or is not scripted. I watch it because they are an interesting family. I love the uniqueness of each of the kids, their skills in the bush and the love they have for each other. I don't personally know anyone who can captain a huge boat, chop down a tree and make it fall exactly where they want it to, gut a deer and turn it into a backpack and carry it, turn berries into lip gloss, bake a cake on an open fire, fashion furniture from a freshly cut tree, Catch fish with their bare hands or turn a deer antler into a hair brush. How "real" the show is has no bearing on how "real" these people are. They are incredibly resourceful and interesting. I think Billy is a very smart man. He is quick witted and savvy. All the kids seem to genuinely love and respect their parents. So many people are wrapped up in ridiculous celebrities like the Kardashians and what they are doing. I"m pretty confident none of the Brown boys will be putting out a sex tape or selling their wedding photos to the highest bidder. You could drop me into the forest with any one of them and I would feel completely safe. Kudos to the Browns for putting themselves out there without ridiculous pretenses and just being themselves.
