EP1 The Hunt Begins Jul 30, 2013

Luke Tipple hosts this new action-adventure reality series where 12 teams of two are about to enter the Hunting Grounds, a high-tech wilderness compound, where they must live in primitive conditions for one month in a winner-take-all battle to survive. Armed with the latest GPS technology and a “talon,” which acts as a kill-switch to the vests worn by the hunted, the hunters search four acres of wilderness, sometimes in brutal weather, in order to capture two teams in 48 hours. In addition to battling fatigue, hunger and extreme weather, the hunted teams cannot stand still for more than three minutes without alerting the hunters to their location. Once two teams are captured, the others vote who should be sent home. Relying on their survival skills and primal instincts, the teams form alliances and strategize to be the ones that take home the coveted $250,000 prize.

After weeks of controversy, a new hunt team now faces their greatest challenge yet and soon stands at the brink of disaster.

EP8 The Peanut Butter Pact Sep 17, 2013

The prey teams are thrown after Luke tells them they will start the hunt with the alarms on their vests blaring. The only way to turn them off is to unite together in the wilderness and figure out the secret code. Reviews

John Milacek Unfortunately right at episode 5 I started having doubts about the sincerity of this 'competition'. All of the contestants are paid and one pair, the twins are actually well known actors which are given twice the opportunity to eliminate the strongest, but according to producer obviously least appealing contestants. Capture could be a great show if thee would be real contestants selected through a real selection process. The basic rules are OK but the extra tricks just would turn you off with their stupidity and I'd suggest if the producers are to set this for a real competition to drop these off. Overall the show manages to trick you to think it for real and it provides good suspension but also some annoying parts just to make it a show.
gregcault Overall this was a pretty exciting show designed to appeal to teens into the hunger games as well as adults.I watched it with an 11yo and we both loved the excitement of choosing our favorite team (Teal) and hating the bad guys (Blue). We were impressed with Red, Green and White teams. The Black team was hilarious. It has a nice mix of physical competition and social game though the former is more important. If you go back and watch the first Survivor you can see how a Season 1 can evolve into a great series. There are some improvements to be made, allow intelligence, strategy and tactics to impact the competition more than pure athletic prowess but overall it was an exciting and fun show and I hope they go on to make a Season 2 with a bigger prize.
atlasmb Capture, aired on the CW network, is basically a high tech game of hide and seek. Twelve teams of 2 compete for a prize of $250,000. So far, I have watched six episodes. The partners on each team know each other. They might be friends, siblings, or neighbors, for example. They can be all male, all female, or both genders. Before each hunt, a hunter team is chosen. They have two days (four hours each day) to capture two teams. If they capture two teams, the other teams vote to decide which team is eliminated. They hunt inside a forested compound with a 10-mile perimeter (4,000 acres). The terrain is supposedly located near Yosemite, with rock formations, water, brambles, and what appear to be logging trails. To capture a team, you affix an electronic "talon" to one of their vests. Usually, this means running them down. The entire game is monitored on a map by use of a GPS system that can identify each team. Each team is equipped with on-shoulder cameras. Cameramen also accompany each team, tracking the action. This leads to the biggest question: how can any team's actions be covert if they are accompanied by another human? As with all reality shows, the two basic default strategies apply: 1. The social game. 2. Alliances.Other strategies come into play as the game progresses, because the producers interject other factors into gameplay on a daily basis. For example, there may be reward stations where you can enjoy some food and drink (at the risk of revealing yourself) or mystery boxes that give those who find them special powers that change the game. These factors have proved to be effective in keeping the game interesting. The game is hard enough during regular play, because all teams are subject to coldness, the effects of altitude, and lack of food. When the other factors are introduced, the game becomes more unpredictable. There is a risk that tinkering with the rules during the game could seem arbitrary or unfair, but so far the producers have managed not to cross the line.Like The Amazing Race, I think this show works best for viewers who can project themselves into the action and relate to what the teams are going through. So far, I have enjoyed the game. One last note: a prey team cannot just hunker down in hiding, because if a team does not move for three minutes, the hunter team is pointed in their direction for the rest of the session via indicators attached to their wrists.
standatease I was a bit skeptical at first but I quickly warmed to this show. The camera-work is very shaky, they do repeat a lot of footage and monologue but its not that annoyingThe show is basically an escape and evade competition with the winner getting a cash prize. The prey have a head start and the capture team has to capture 2 teams in 2 days or face expulsion. There is a vote on who leaves out of the 2 captured teams. There are a few other mechanics, sabotage, food checkpoints etc but its fairly simple. The shows designers do a good job of quickly wearing the contestants down so the are tired, hungry and irritable. They sleep out in the open and get minimal rations. The relationships the teams have with each other are fun to watch too. When the gay fella from the green team puts the hammer down on the blue team, it was so funny.I would like to see some variations on the theme. having the capture and prey teams starting at different locations. Having objectives the prey teams must reach, prey teams need to cap a flag for food but when they have the flag they are on capture teams radar. Etc etc.I like it but I feel the shaky camera and lack of variation on the theme could be lowering the score.
