Temperatures and renovation costs begin to rise, however, and problems involving duct work and load-bearing posts threaten to become obstacles when it comes to selling this out-of-the-ordinary house in a competitive neighborhood.

Lindsey and Eric have to figure out why the previous owner jumped ship and then fix all the issues left behind, including a courtyard in disrepair. They count on the upgraded finishes and increased outdoor appeal to make this previously abandoned flip compete with the rest of the pack.

The team hopes a little elbow grease and a modern Moroccan design by Lindsey will be enough for them to jump over their hurdles and sprint toward a sizable profit.

Lindsey and Eric seem to be the only ones willing to take on a challenging fire-damaged home with a low price tag and high market risk. What looks like a few charred walls turns out to be a much larger issue that takes a chunk out of the profit when major roof repairs are required. The flippers have to make some hard decisions on design if they want to attract buyers while staying under budget and on schedule.

A three-bedroom home with a swampy pool and a lack of outdoor aesthetic catches Lindsey and Eric's eye. If they want to make top-dollar, the duo will need to update every room and revamp the entire floor plan. Everything goes according to plan until a rare torrential downpour in the desert threatens to rain on their flip parade and their potential for profit.

When Eric and Lindsey Bennett roll the dice and bid on a property sight unseen, their winning bid looks like a good bet at first glance. The well-maintained home has an outdated style but no major red flags, and the flippers hope that Lindsey's modern, natural design can get buyers in the door. But the whole project may be jeopardy when a crack in the floor threatens to add thousands of dollars to the budget.

Eric and Lindsey overpay to get a foot in the door of a rundown property in a highly desirable neighborhood. This flip will be worth the high cost if they can change the home's 1970s style into a desirable midcentury design but if they want to get there, they'll have to risk tearing everything out and completely changing the look. When an unexpected roof problem arises, the duo scrambles to rework the design in hopes of staying on budget while turning a profit.

Eric pounces on a home he's had his eye on for over a year in a high-end neighborhood where homes sell for over a million dollars. Lindsey plans for an outdoor oasis and high-tech master bath to bring the home up to par with comps in the area. However, the risky flip gets even riskier when they run into permitting issues and thousands of dollars worth of equipment is stolen.

EP14 Attack of the Shack Oct 23, 2018

Eric and Lindsey Bennett take on a property in disrepair that has been deemed a tear-down by the seller. The flippers think they can salvage the home and give it new life, but the more they uncover, the more frightening this flip becomes. A rotting carport, a damaged roof and severe mold send the renovation costs skyrocketing and leave the couple wondering if they should have listened to the seller and torn the whole thing down.

weatherdon I love house flipping shows, love 'em. Too often though I've seen where the show's success goes to the hosts head. The emphasis seems to shift away from detailing the renovation process and becomes more a platform to emphasize the hosts 'personality.' In this case it's Eric Bennett's delusion that he possess comedic ability. They can hardly be in a two shot without getting an sample of his lame humor, and of course whatever he says she obediently giggles. It didn't used to be this way. There's nothing wrong with showing personality, but the Bennett's should remember that the purpose of the show is emphasize the renovation process and what can be learned from it. The time spent on cornball jokes would be better spent explaining the process they are undertaking.

imastar7 If you watch The House of blue episode you'll see them taking a screw gun to a piece of wood and he doesn't make it all away flush. I don't know how They can live with themselves knowing that's behind the wall...

rhubarbpiego Interesting to see Palm Springs area properties, and the Bennetts seem to address the market well. The episodes I've seen so far focus on affordable homes with realistic profits. I like that they actually show some negative comments at the open houses, which makes the show more believable. We've all got different tastes after all. I would love to see them take on some more expensive properties as well so we could get a rounded out idea of PS real estate. I love a modern take on Mid Century Modern so I thought I'd be blown away by their designs but I'm not. That's not the most important part of a flipping project though - making a profit is. The Bennetts seem to find buyers and make a profit, so they're doing their thing right but I would still love to be rewarded with some "Wow!" designs. My only hesitation with this show is I find Eric and Lindsey annoying. Eric is constantly the class clown and Lindsey seems unnatural and constantly giggling. I don't really want cute when I'm watching a flipping show. I would like it more if they'd be more confident in their professional prowess and cut out the cutesy, But I'll keep watching.

Valentijn I was a bit skeptical when I saw a flipping show rated over 9 stars (that's up in "Breaking Bad" range), but it's actually very good for what it is. It lacks the more annoying elements found in most other flipping shows: obnoxious and sleazy guys who shout a lot, bleach-blonde wives with no qualification beyond thinking they have an eye for design, heavy scripting, bumbling employee to blame things on, etc.That's enough to put it ahead of the pack. But the couple doing the flipping are pretty funny and geeky. They talk naturally and intelligently to each other, manufacturing neither dissent nor agreement. The production is pretty good too ... nice filming, good aerial shots, editing, background music, etc. And they include both the positive and negative comments from potential buyers - they aren't trying to make every flip look ideal.
