I don't understand this show. I am scratching my head, wondering why she ever took the part. It appears to me that someone had a very bad sense of humor when he offered this show to Kirstie, and what he really wants to do is to make her look bad for becoming fat by giving her a part and telling her it is funny--when in reality it is the antithesis of funny.I think it is very sad that she took the part, because there is humor, but this is sick humor. I am wondering if she was so naive that she thought it was a funny part, or if she was so desperate that she didn't care anymore--that this is just her ticket to having her own TV show. She could do much better. This show does not build her up, but it tears her down. I used to watch her in Cheers and I used to have a crush on her. Now, because of this show, I no longer have that crush.I do not like to hear her use foul language and say that she has only one goal--to f--- a rock star (for what reason? so she could become popular again?) Language like that is not very becoming of her! I think it is sad to hear/watch her refer to herself in the manner that she does in this show.I have heard that in the second show, Carmen Electra even gave a brief nudity scene. I just watched that show and I did not see that. I don't know whether it was edited out on Norwegian TV, or if I was just not paying attention, but I didn't see it. Nevertheless, that does not bring the show up either, but tears it down. I can still remember a time when it was not even allowed. This show is not uplifting for Kirstie, but it is demeaning, and it is demeaning to women as well. When a woman goes to a store and buys something, it isn't CHEAPER, but it is LESS EXPENSIVE. A woman never SWEATS, but she PERSPIRES. Likewise, she is not FAT, but she is OVERWEIGHT. These are more than just words and it isn't just wordplay. All the crude references in this TV show about Kirstie being SO FAT are demeaning--not just to Kirstie, but to women in general as well. What is so demeaning is not just the WORDS that are said--but the ATTITUDE behind the words that the people are showing. What makes it worse is that Kirstie is playing as HERSELF, and when she does that, it takes all the fantasy away. If she were playing somebody else, then she is in character, and therefore, the fantasy is that that is what the character was thinking. When she plays herself, the character's thoughts become her thoughts because SHE is that character. As Kirstie, herself, said in the first show, when a man gets old, overweight, and gray, he is called "more distinguished", but when a woman does the same, she is called "old and fat". That is sad, but there ARE some women who HAVE still had movie and TV roles well beyond their beauty years!Overall, I think it is sad that Kirstie didn't find a more responsible role to play. I see no reason why she shouldn't be able to play the part of a mother--or even a grandmother. (I am four years younger than she is and I have been a grandfather for the past five years now.) She could do that with dignity and not have to take all the rude and demeaning jokes.Kirstie, get a better role! You're worth it! and you owe it to yourself!

This show is a reality show depicting Kirstie Alley's search (as an overweight woman) for a job as an actress in a movie or a TV show as an overweight woman. Although she is famous and beautiful, she faces size discrimination at every job she applies for - except weight loss commercials. Kirstie is brave and strong in the face of this discrimination, and she does a wonderful job setting the stage for the entrance of fat women onto the Hollywood screen. This show is funny and thought provoking. Its take on eating, body acceptance, and human relationships is a breath of fresh air. In addition, it's good to see a voluptuous women like Kirstie as a main character of a show instead of the "funny sidekick" or throwaway bit part. This show is a breakthrough, and I hope to see a second season.

I completely disagree, I think this show is absolutely hilarious and very well done. Kirstie did what wanted to do and she was herself, and that's what makes it a good show. I'm not exactly sure what I was expecting to see, but I recently found them on our "On Demand" channel and thought I'd watch the first one. My friends and I all watched it, and we all agreed that it was a very good show and watched every episode of season 1. Even after I've seen them all, I go back and watch my favorites. I'm not one to watch much TV, it just doesn't entertain me, but I've always been pulled toward Kirstie's movies and TV shows, they're the best!

I wanted to like this show, I really did. I wanted to give it the benefit of the doubt. But what do I get? Cheap, silly, childish gimmicks! The gist of this show is "Waaaaaaaah! I'm fat! Waaaah! Laugh at me! Giggle at my plight and tears!" All throughout this show: Kirstie keeps bemoaning herself. During a scene at the office, A song called "Bubble Butt Fatso" plays. How childish and infantile! This whole "fatso" schtick belongs in the same category as your kindergarten "poopy pants" routine! I was utterly disappointed with Miss Alley. Such a beautiful and talented woman but created such an atrocious and un-funny show. Do not watch this program. It is a waste of air time.
