oldvikingschool Reliving the tale of the legendary Flash Gordon, Eric Johnson takes on the duty of our beloved hero. A role that suits him with his goofy charming look. I'll skip the story, many other have already pointed it out so I head into the other details. It's obvious that the creator doesn't take Flash Gordon seriously, but instead showing a huge passion and love for the cult rated classic from 1980. Most notable is the awkward directing, it looks and feels like a 80's show with the picture quality of today in which I find hilarious and entertaining and the story is basically based of the original 80's film feature stretched out into a full season.I recommend for all sci-fi fans with a sense of humor or fans of series like Xena, Hercules and other adventurous B-shows to give the show a try. If you're looking for a show with a deep storyline, good directing and high budget... Look somewhere else :)
jsanint I think this is a very entertaining show. My wife kids and I look forward to watching it every week. The effects are well made and fancy enough for TV. I'm glad you don't need to be an aerospace engineer or some geek to understand this sci-fi show. The customs are great and the girls are beautiful. It's refreshing to see a woman (Baylin) being a real hero over and over. She is also a great sidekick for flash. The simplicity yet cool storyline of the show is one of its greatest assets. As a former Aerospace Engineering student I am happy to know that this is a show I can share with my non scientist family and we can all enjoy. It's also innocent enough to not be traumatic in children's minds. I could not watch Battlestar Galactica with my 11 and 12 year old children.
ZIFFJET I love this show!!! I love that it's a bit campy.Cast is great!!! I would love to see this show for more seasons.Eric Johnson as Flash is just perfect.Anna Van Hooft as Aura is very likable. She plays her part very well.John Ralston adds just enough "evil".It seems that every member is really getting into the characters that they play.I think it's way cool that they are spending so much time on developing the characters and adding new groups of people every week. The story is believable and has continuity.I'm not sure why we need 10 lines.GO FLASH!!!
Obelix_1971 I don't think this is as bad as some reviewers seem to believe. I do think that this is NOT Flash Gordon. I'm getting sick and tired of Hollywood re-imagining or re-inventing stuff. I mean, what's the point of naming your show Flash Gordon and then taking it as far away from it's origins as you can get. In my humble opinion you will just disappoint people. And when you read the majority of the reviews here, they have!! It's too bad for the lead character, because Eric Johnson is great!! He can act and he is great as an action hero. The actor who plays Zarkoff is also great. He actually made me laugh out loud several times. The great let down (besides the SFX and very mediocre writing) of this show is Ming! He is certainly not merciless, he is just...well...less. He is not scary nor is he even interesting. Damn I want Max von Sydow back!! I mean what's next?? A re-invention of Star Wars where Darth Vader is actually a Russian ballet dancer?? I mean come on!! If you name your show Flash Gordon then give us Flash Gordon and NOT the sequel to Sliders where the main character just happen to listen to the name Flash Gordon.
