Synopsis

Flikken was a popular Flemish-Belgian TV series about a police-department located in Ghent. The show started in 1999 and ended recently on 19 April 2009. In the series, a team of six police officers solved various crimes, petty crimes as well as organised crime. The series always aimed at showing the policework in a realistic way - though a little personal drama was never far off. Of all the actors that came along during the ten seasons, only Mark Tijsmans and Ludo Hellinx appeared throughout the entire series. Flikken was produced by the VRT and broadcast on Belgian public channel Eén and TROS in the Netherlands. Flikken is very popular in Belgium and the Netherlands. The show has had very high ratings of up to 1.8 million viewers during the last season. Every year the VRT organises the Flikkendag, a family day where the public can meet the actors of the show. There are many games, demonstrations of the real police and other safety organisations and performances of singers. On 18 April 2009, a special farewell party was organised in Ghent, in which the actors and crew said goodbye to their fans - thousands had assembled to watch the show on stage.

Reviews

Glitter-Greet Why do people like this so much? It's just another police show where some actors and actresses play the good and the bad. It's said to be realistic, but what city's got so many murders in a month? The actors (and especially the actresses!) are not that good. Their fans, who know them from "Flikken", are fan because they just like "Flikken". I don't really think people would like Andrea Croonenberghs if she wasn't in "Flikken". The whole show is about here, too, when there are way better actors and actresses in "Flikken". If you like police shows, don't watch this one, but try "Crime Scene Investigation" or even "Luifel en Luifel".
crucialp It's a popular show here, which I really don't understand! It's produced by our national tv station (VRT), and I hope they don't think they have made something exeptional. It looks there's only a handfull of actors and actresses in this country. In every show, you see the same faces. I still think there are some good actors here, but it seems to me, that their talent is reduced by the director(s)! Most of the episodes lack a good story and tempo! But what bothers me the most is actress??, Andrea Cronenberg. Her acting and dialoges are so forced, and I hope she doesn't think she can sing. Two other shows that were shown on TV here, were of much better quality."Niet voor publicatie" and "Terug naar Oosterdonk".
ruvasky This series is the best Belgian production ever. I live in Ghent and we are all very proud on our city. The way this series (Flikken is about a police-department located in Ghent) shows our city to the world makes us all very happy. The series was supported by our own police-department to make it look realistic, and I think those officers did a great job. A few years ago, the name "Flikken" was a negative nickname for "cops" in dutch. Now, thanks to the series, it's considered as a compliment...
Aussiefan This is a great cop-show: The story lines are good. It's not just about murder or rape. And it doesn't have an spectacular car-chase every episode, like some shows. It's more realistic. They also have to solve burglaries, shoplifting, assault, stalking, vandalism etc, etc., like real cops have to do. You also get to know more and more about the background of the characters. Almost all the actors are fabulous (some of them look good as well!-But they aren't models) and last but not least it has humour. In short: It's just fun!!
