We watched Night Court.

EP4 Snow Falls (2023) Feb 12, 2023

Mike and Jay narrow down some of the worst rated films of 2023 and pick one to watch. It's called Snow Falls and its something someone made that takes place in a large cabin house. Digital snowflakes fall on snowflakes as they gets cold in the film and can't handle basic survival skills or something and they just get too cold because of the film's premise. Someone made a movie and wanted you to watch this movie cause the trailer makes the movie look like it could be fun. It kind of looks like a movie you've seen before. Young people in a cabin and things happen but in this film nothing really happen. It gets cold and they can't leave the cabin, but they really can. I guess the roads are out but no one ever show me that. Why not drive away from cold house? Why not? No one liked this film, but Mike and Jay may talk about it for longer than anyone on Earth. Why did they? Why review this when them could review newer better or more populated films? When?

EP5 Cocaine Bear, Knock at the Cabin, and The Whale Mar 20, 2023

Cocaine Bear! It's that movie that everyone was joking about for about a week and then completely forgot. Jay and Mike talk about it. They also talk about Knock at the Cabin, the latest film from N. Night Shyamalan. It's about a cabin that has a knock at the cabin. They also talk about The Whale, starring Cocaine Bear!

EP6 Evil Dead Rise Apr 30, 2023

An Irish guy shot the latest installment of an American franchise in New Zealand. It's Evil Dead Rise! The first Evil Dead movie in a decade. Is the new film worth traveling to a disgusting movie theater to see??? Only the idiots that bring their crying infants to a disgustingly violent R-rated movie know for sure!

EP7 Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 3 May 08, 2023

The summer movie season is a go! It's time for action! Time for adventure! Time for incorrect aspect ratio projections of a movie that takes up only two thirds of your giant movie theater screen of which you came to see said movie on. It's time to head back to the moopies and check out the final Marvel movie, Guardians of the Galaxy 3!

EP8 Fool's Paradise and The Corporate Product Biopic Trend Jun 16, 2023

Charlie Day from It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia wrote, directed, and starred in a movie that just came out that you've never heard about! Is this gigantic flop as bad as its Rotten Tomatoes score would suggest? Also WHEN ARE WE GOING TO GET THE RUBIK'S CUBE MOVIE???

EP9 Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny Jul 02, 2023

Indiana...let it go. We had a lot of dumb technical issues when filming this episode. One of our stupid mics stopped working 2 minutes into our discussion but we didn't discover that until after talking about the stupid Indiana Jones movie for 45 minutes so then we had to start the stupid discussion all over again. And for some reason on the second time we shot it, Rich Evans' microphone made him sound extra echo-y because Rich Evans is a sound anomaly. But you can still understand everything we say as we painstakingly go through this boring movie. So just relax and have fun, everybody. Relax and have fun!!! And Happy Birthday, Grimace!

EP10 Oppenheimer and The Hollywood Implosion Jul 23, 2023

Happy Barbenheimer everyone! Watch as these two elderly losers stall for half the video before finally discussing what some are calling the best movie of the year: Oppenheimer! In addition to that, Mike and Jay discuss the ongoing writer and actor strikes as well as its consequences on movies, theaters, streamers, audiences, and most importantly what effect it will have on David Zaslav. Won't someone please think of poor David Zaslav?!

EP11 The Kyle Gallner Triple Feature Spectacular! Aug 29, 2023

Mike and Jay go down one of the most unexpected rabbit holes of all time! It’s the Kyle Gallner Triple Feature Spectacular! Brought to you by Vudu™ and Loot Crate™ and Quaker Oats™! Mike loves Vudu. It’s an interface his rotting, elderly, dementia-ridden brain can comprehend. It’s where he watches his movies and loves to click on the little pictures and see what other movies people have been in. This time, Mike saw that Jay’s old friend Kyle Gallner has been in 3 movies in the past 6 months or so. Mike watched the three most recent films and got a little something out of each one. He wanted to share them with Jay. And then with you, the internet audience. Are these movies destined to be classics decades from now? Probably not. They are lower budgeted quality independent films that make a heartful attempt at something new. Plus they do not have the words Clown, Shark, or Exorcist in the title. Did billions of people go to see them like the Barbie movie? Or Oppenhomie? Nope.

EP12 The Exorcist: Believer Oct 09, 2023

The power of Christ compels Mike and Jay to see another trash rebootquel cash grab soft-reboot sequel remake. This time, David Gordon Green and Blunhouse have got their dirty, disgusting hands on The Exorcist, one of Jay's favorite movies of all time. Is the movie any good???????? What do you think?????

Reviews

Reamusray I started watching Half In The Bag 2 years ago. Watching the channel grow has been a true pleasure since this is by far the most hilariously inappropriate yet also professional blend of comedy gold and satire. The set-piece of "Lightning fast VHS" is a brilliant addition adding a lot more creativity than your average YouTube channel that deem their reviews to be "hilarity's". We follow Mike and Jay, and Mr.Plinkett, an otherwise unsettling and sinister old man who like to make love to his pets and abuse hookers. Mike and Jay both play the parts of VHS repair men looking to extort money from Mr. Plinkett by attempting to repair his VHS. Those Female Russian Terminator tapes ain't gonna watch themselves you know! I wont go into a lot of details, since you really have to watch this show to enjoy and admire its sheer levels of comedy that make you question "Why is Adam Sandler so rich, when these guys are far more hilarious?!". Speaking of that con-man, I would advise starting with the wet yourself. One last note also - Rich Evans is a majestic human being. Every street corner should contain at least one Rich Evans. His laughter is like butter to the ears...Love it! 10/10
mrdjx In the post Roger Ebert era where proper film criticism is few and far between, Half in the Bag is one of the funniest and most insightful film review shows on Youtube. A comedic spin on the traditional film review format, Half In the Bag blurs the lines between sitcom, satire and film discussion. The setup is thus, Mike and Jay are employees/owners of a business called Lightning Fast VCR Repair. Seemingly their only client is Harry S. Plinkett, a blind, aging, senile old man, who is somewhat oblivious to their inability to do their jobs productively and competently. Mike and Jay take advantage of Plinkett, by using their time to bum around and discuss films. The fictional narrative that is wrapped around the reviews gives the presenters leeway to satirize the films they are reviewing. One of the most notorious examples of this is their review of the film Movie 43 where they describe various jaw droppingly disgusting scenes while hailing the film as a masterwork of comedy. Upon closer inspection it is clear the reviewers are deliberately making these scenes up with scenarios that are more horrifying than funny. Perhaps their most infamous and best moment then is their review of Jack and Jill. The review is a breathtakingly monumental takedown of Adam Sandler's film career covering everything from the non existent humor to the outright disturbing level of product placement. Mike then assesses that the film seems to have been made soley as a front for embezzlement between Sony and its associates. Jay -citing the minimum level of effort in the production- then questions whether it should even be called a film.Half in the Bag is written and produced by Red Letter Media, a production company that is most well known for the highly acclaimed and terrifyingly well informed Star Wars Prequel reviews which collectively make up one of the finest reviews ever assembled on the Internet. In Half in the Bag, Red Letter Media finds a worthy successor and provides proof that quality film criticism will survive the demise of the publishing industry, and the onslaught of studio funded reviews.
Michael O'Brien The guys at Red Letter Media know two things: movies - from David Lynch to Michael Bay - and comedy. Half in the Bag, one of RLM's several media ventures, is a movie review show that features comedy skits, great homemade sets, and simple - but effective! - special effects. Mike Stoklasa and Jay Bauman are the hosts of Half in the Bag, two Milwaukee natives with a shared love of beer and movies. They are often joined by their jovial friend with the crazy laugh, Rich Evans, and host of colourful side characters (such as the Emperor from Star Wars).Half in the Bag takes place in a weird reality where aliens, ghosts and sex robots are not uncommon. Mike and Jay play VCR repairmen who barely work and love taking advantage of their elderly client, Mr. Plinkett (Rich Evans). They exploit old man Plinkett for his house, money, booze, and medication. When they're not in their VCR repair shop or being pursued by government agents, the guys film Half in the Bag in Plinkett's living room. They usually review two current movies per episode, though some movies occasionally require their own episode (see The Dark Knight Rises, Prometheus). The show is defined by it's fantastic wit, insane humour (ranging from dry to completely bizarre), and genuinely insightful views on movies and the film business. Whether discussing an indie film or the latest comic book blockbuster, Mike and Jay always have something intelligent to offer. Episodes such as '#40: Sinister and Paranormal Activity' and '#21 Jack and Jill' are prime examples of the hard work that goes in to the production of Half in the Bag; wacky plot lines, legitimate actors, sets, special effects - these guys go above and beyond to deliver a great review and an entertaining show.I'd recommend Half in the Bag to anyone who loves movies, unusual comedy, and drinking beers with their friends. If you're an alien and you don't like any of these things, there's always Rich Evans' laugh.
TheSeaLion Set up like a comedy show from the 70s or 80s, "Half in the Bag" shows, like the "Plinkett Reviews", that there is a fun way to review films. Adding in ridiculous subplots and bringing on guest stars every now and then, "Half in the Bag" is a great way to get a review of a movie and be entertained at the same time. The story bases around a very simple idea that sounds like it could be a sitcom which the show is based on, about two VCR repair men, Mike and Jay, who are scamming Mr. Plinkett (Rich Evans) by pretending to fix his VCR while instead, they review movies and trash his house. With the internet series, Redlettermedia displays their creativity, their humor, and their knowledge of movies all in one place.
