Sin came looking for Hercules in the guise of Serena. She said she needed Hercules' help to recapture Xerxos, a murderer who had escaped from her world of evil souls. In truth ""Serena"" was in league with Xerxos. She poisoned Hercules in hopes he would take a life in anger, which would condemn his soul to her domain. But Iolaus was able to keep Hercules from killing Xerxos. The murderer found his sister, the criminal Arciana, and encouraged her to reform before it was too late. Then he and ""Serena"" returned to their realm.

When Hercules saw the Amazons waiting tables and dancing in a chorus line, he knew they had to be under a spell cast by Aphrodite. Sure enough, the goddess of love was responsible. She had broken up with Hephaestus, which threw her powers out of whack. Meanwhile, Deimos put the Amazons to work in a mine, digging for the Chronus Stone. Finding it, he turned the Amazons against Hercules and Iolaus. But Aphrodite finally confessed her love for Hephaestus, breaking the spell. Deimos vanished, and the Amazons returned to normal.

Hercules was not happy to find that Creon had taken the throne of Thebes from Oedipus. But Hercules had his hands full with Oedipus' daughter, Princess Antigone -- a brash drunk. As Hercules tried to restore her confidence, Creon and his defense minister plotted to destroy them both. When Antigone was captured by Creon, Hercules raced through a minefield to save her from being executed. Assisted by a group of rebels, Hercules drove off Creon, who fled -- only to be blown up by his own bomb. Reunited with Oedipus, Antigone took her rightful position as Queen of Thebes.

In a clever move to save his friends, Hercules ate hemlock and gave his tainted blood to the vampires. Thus weakened, Vlad was no match for Hercules. Upon Vlad's death, the others returned to normal.

Hercules and Iolaus arrive in Egypt just in time to save Queen Nefertiti from assasins. Iolaus suspected Princess Amensu of perpetrating the crime, because Amensu wanted Egypt to attack Greece while her mother did not. But the real traitor turned out to be Prince Ramses, who had appeared to support the Queen. He found the Necronomicon -- the Book of the Dead -- and used his new powers to send stone statues after Hercules and Iolaus. But they evaded the statues and retrieved the book. CobraLOrd0 Filmed in the beautiful New Zealand, like the similar show "Zena, Warrior Princess". I used to watch it on "Star" channel. The plot follows the adventures of Hercules (played by Kevin Sorbo), the demigod birthed by a god "Zeus" - the king of the gods and a mortal woman Alcmene. Yeah, Zeus got around a lot.. Hercules wanders the earth (Greece mostly) along with his friend Iolaus (played by Michael Hurst). Just to note that Iolaus was invented for the purposes of the TV show, greek mythology doesn't mention him. They both portray honorable individuals, and the only true justice of the ancient world of greece. The terrific duo kill the bad guys, save the day and some times even get the girls. But this series is PG, so don't expect to see much blood (if ever), or erotic scenes. Hercules is often tempted and trapped by monsters sent from Hera, the Queen of the gods and Zeus's wife. She's both jealous and furious of her husband who is impregnating beautiful mortal women around the world and she wants to kill his half-god children. But Hercules is very powerful and still endures. Hercules will encounter various interesting individuals in his journey, even other gods, like Ares - the god of war (played by Kevin Smith). This tv series was my guilty pleasure as a kid, i loved it. Yes, it will mostly appeal to children or for entire family viewings. It is entertaining, enjoyable and quite funny. Acting from the main characters is decent, but never take this series too seriously (it itself doesn't). Over the 111 episodes, Hercules meets many wonderful creatures, kings, monsters, giants, you name it. Choreography of the fights is awful, but it's not intended to be very realistic, it's childish action, tolerable nonetheless. Eventually Hercules (Kevin Sorbo) will probably grow on you and you will like the character and the series. Finally i find the score and the intro very well made. The heroic music is fitting. Rating: 5/10 - Mediocre - Good to pass family time.
reb-warrior Hercules The Legendary Journeys was chalk full of adventure, mythology, and action. Lots of slapstick. Muscle bound Kevin Sorbo did a decent job of playing Hercules. Tho, he was mostly wooden in his acting. He was surrounded by great actors, Michael Hurst, Robert Trebor, Bruce Campbell, Kevin Smith, Alexander Tydings, just to name a few. Michael Hurst in particular brought a lot of fun and humour to the show. Mostly different writers/producers from Xena, quantitative-wise. Xena never took away anything from it. If anything it added to it as a companion show. The complaints to this are usually from a few fans of a certain actor, and by this actor himself as an excuse to explain why Hercules wasn't more popular than Xena. As though saying: "There must be a reason. It can't be that Xena was simply liked better by more people." The ego can't handle that thought I suppose. The irony being that they are the ones that point out that Xena was better then Hercules more then anyone else. Always whining that Hercules was a "lesser" show because "Xena took away." A half empty glass.........Propping by dissing never works. The two shows were very very different even though both take place in the mythological genre. While both may have common fans, it's only logical that each would also appeal to different masses of fans. One was simply going to do better. It only makes sense. There's no way these shows would perform equally. Look at the CSI's for example, they all have different respective ratings. Not equal performance.I might add that Lucy Lawless was a huge factor. There is just something about her. Something special. Furthermore, where there have been countless male heroes on the screen there have been relatively very few female heroes. Thus adding a curiosity factor, an uniqueness, and just plain awesomeness of it all, which helped propel Xena to cult status. Not to mention that Xena is an absolutely wonderful show that has captured the hearts and imaginations of many.Got off track. Sorry. Needless to say, I for one prefer my glass half full. I enjoyed watching this show. Although I found the Hercules character too good to be true. Mr Perfect! Not much depth where he was concerned. He was always right. He never made mistakes. Personally, I prefer shades of grey in my heroes. The stories were too simple. There were never any complex nor thought-provoking stories. It's great for little kids though, and shallow loving people. If you want to see a superior quality show, watch Xena Warrior Princess. 5/10
dphin8313 What a great show. I grew up watching shows like this. Shows that are campy, fun and meant to just be entertaining. Kevin Sorbo is a perfect choice for Hercules and Michael Hurst does a great job as Hercules little but tough friend. And there are plenty of babes in the episodes that kept me watching all those years and still keep me watching. It's sad that shows like this (Brisco County Jr. and Jack of all Trades)don't seem to have enough of a following. I hear that they are making a new Hercules movie and I know that Kevin Sorbo might be too old for the role but I hope he gets a part to play in the movie. Again what a great show and I enjoy watching it now as much as ever.
