benjaminburt This series is not truly awful, but I find it's secretly a lot worse than most people think. I have to give credit where credit is due, and there is a lot of good to the show. The voice-acting is mostly on-point, the original songs and background music are super-catchy, and each episode offers a coherent, tight plot line. It's also sometimes funny. Sometimes. Also, hats off to the writing on Doctor Doofenschmirtz and Perry the Platypus. They really carry their weight, and are a good work of parody. However, to some degree, this makes the rest of the show confused because it's not parody at all; it's formulaic.Take note of what you're actually watching. After an episode of Phineas and Ferb, have they given you anything new? Have they challenged you or broadened your mind in any way? Now, some may say, "yes," but, for me, it is a resounding, "NO." In fact, in a now 10-year retrospective, I feel kind of robbed by the show, repeating over and over the same formula. The show is fine and all, but after a whopping 222 episodes, I think we can all agree that the show, as a whole, was pretty underwhelming.Of course, there are exceptions to the rule, and some episodes elicit surprisingly insightful societal commentary. But these are far and few between, with most episodes cut from the same cloth, generated by the same Mad Libs-esque script. The animation is also not very impressive, with most characters seen from the same angle in every single shot, and horrible or bland character designs (I'm looking at you, triangle-faced Phineas and Shovel-faced Isabella).Remember when I said before it was sometimes funny? Just bear in mind that most people will watch most Phineas and Ferb episodes with a blank stare for the full 13 minutes, not really feeling or saying anything.Bland characters, sub-par animation, and most of all, a tired formula dragged over 222 episodes make this kid's show one of the blandest shows to ever run for over 7 years.
hanshotfirst-20216 One of my favorite shows of all time. One the one hand, it was an excellently animated, fun, kids' show. On the other hand, it wasn't just a kids' show, and in the earlier episodes it is clear that the writers were parodying kids shows. Most of the jokes were hilarious. While many have pointed out the racial and gender stereotypes, the fact that they take these seriously prove they have not watched the show very much. The show often took stereotypes and tropes and blew them to such ridiculous extremes that the parody couldn't help but be apparent. Even when it started losing the kids' show parody element, it was still very entertaining, and never stopped being so. And most of the music was great!Note: There are but two episodes I can think of which I absolutely despise: Mission Marvel, and Act Your Age. The former was a crossover with the channel's Marvel shows, and just didn't work. The latter was set before the characters leave for college, and, especially as most of the episode was devoted to shipping not one, not two, but three couples, was way too much like a fanfic (not surprisingly, as it was inspired by a piece of fan-art.
Tanvi Méstry For those who've missed out the show assuming it to be a kids show then they have missed out a very good entertainer. This is the only series in league of cartoon shows aired on Disney in recent times, which is not written down in the kids tone. The show characters and their stories are very well connected to each other. And the situations are so well thought of that each episode is fresh to watch. Candace's crush for Jeremy! and Dr. Doofenshmirtz's countless failed experiments and the hilarious reasons from his past life (mostly his childhood) are my favorite! Perry and Dr. Doofenshmirtz's conflict and strange friendship also adds good humor to the show. I'm 25 and I've been a dedicated viewer of the show and it has never failed to entertain me.
asaloverboy7 Serious Dan Povenmire and Swampy Marsh are geniuses. They managed to create a show that kids and adults would enjoy, with clever jokes and lovely characters. It's all about two stepbrothers spending their summer vacation building and doing innovative and wacky things with a teenage sister who always reports what the boys do to their mom, the boys own a platypus who is actually a secret agent that stops a mad scientist who has a teenage daughter and is divorced, the boys have many friends including a girl who is the leader of a girl guide group and they sometimes help the boys out on their wacky projects and she has a crush on Phineas. This show is quite funny and awesome and also has a song featured on nearly every episode. You know what's going to happen, but you don't know how it's going to happen. In my opinion, Phineas and Ferb is the best best cartoon currently on TV.
