FFB Riviera starts out really exciting, then keeps you want to watch because of the ever developing intrigues between the characters - which are compelling enough to make the show worth watching, but then leaves one unsatisfied at the end due to a, seemingly, incomplete base storyline. A storyline which may well have been in the writers' minds but isn't disclosed to the audience, making certain actions seem illogical or confusing. An alternative scenario, 'Rivera, what could have happened'Constantine is the good guy, he may have laundered a little money, maybe not. He may have used his wife's services for his own illicit purposes, but he loves her, and his business was never meant to hurt herHis bank's business is on the decline, so much that he gets desperate, this could explain the painting scams and money launderingAdam could have been the mastermind plotter, wanting to live up to his father and seeing an opportunity due to the bank being in dire straits, he concocts a plan to use his brother Cristos, a charming and socially engaged man, but a failure and an addict at the same time, to use his connections and social presence to dig up dirt about the bank's clients and blackmail them with itHowever, Adam doesn't get the recognition of his father he so desperately wanted, in fact he gets his pathetic role confirmed and his father doesn't want to have any dealings with him anymoreThe clients now - Russian mostly - get angry and want to get their hands on the dirt but also take revenge for the blackmailing, they believe Constantine is behind the blackmailingAdam shows his true nature and decides to take over the bank and to use the angry Russian clients to this end. Constantine thus gets murdered based on Adams tip to the clients' assassin Nadia, who he is dating, but who he knows to be an assassinThis is what Georgina finds out in the final episode or penultimate episode, and based on all this she decides to kill to Adam, justifiably so in the audience's opinion This then sets the stage for season two where the audience can rely on Georgina's killer instinct to destroy the Russian clients that murdered her husbandAll side plots, including the Adriana, Cristos, their mother, Jakob, and Delormes storylines work really well and add to the aforementioned intrigue that makes one want to keep watching. To conclude the show is worth watching, but a little (maybe a bit more than a little) imagination helps to fill up any gaps left after the final episode.
Binge First half: A slowly unravelling mystery around a rich art dealers death seen through his widows eyes. Very enticing plot development and pace, great settings, outfits, direction, editing etc. Second half: A bit of a mess that never recovers. Im not sure if all the episodes where written by the same people and didn't bother to check. But the second half of the series was seriously lacking in all above mentioned areas, except setting and outfits which didn't change. Not much made sense, and the quality of the whole show plummeted to a cable channel daytime soap opera level. Watch it if you have nothing to kill some time with, or leave it on in the background while you make use of your time otherwise. Don't expect any brilliant twists or a great ending.
galladiel Okay, the show started out promising. The main character was not like a typical barbie doll that is usually cast in a main role of similar shows. She had a rough exterior but a solid personality of a good kindly girl. The authors took care to built up her character with each episode creating an image of a girl that enjoys the perks of being rich but has morals, true values and a desire to get to the truth no matter how painful. All in all very relatable. The audience empathizes with her and overlooks her awkwardness. All is going smoothly until it's time to end the show. 10 minutes before the end of the series the authors decide to make her into a vengeful psychopathic killer. I mean, I usually like a good twist in a story but COME ON! This was nowhere near an elegant ending. I couldn't believe how bad it sucked. I mean, it's just isn't done this way. It's like the authors just stopped caring and so they asked some junkie from the street to finish the show up for them. Don't waste your time!
superspurs61 on 1st look had the makings of a decent drama, south of f setting , Russian money man murdered etc etc, however the whole thing seemed poorly judged poorly executed and had little balance. 4 eg considering its location imagery was really poor, wardrobe was marks and sparks against supposed designer story/backdrop, casting barring the ex wife and the daughter didn't hold water, so leaves me asking where the f--- was the overall direction !!!!!! really, imo on reflection a shameful waste of a half decent budget.
