To add to his worries, daughter Adele wants to get a tattoo, and wife Natalie decides she is fed up with being a housewife and goes job hunting. Also, Grandma attempts to convince Grandpa to visit the doctor about his toilet habits.

Roly attempts to put romance back into his marriage with a surprise weekend away for two. Unfortunately, Natalie doesn't like surprises, and country living doesn't quite agree with Roly, so the result is a less than romantic weekend. Meanwhile, Grandpa, Grandma, and the kids are left at home with Adele in charge. Who will win the battle to host a party?

Natalie is furious when she discovers that Adele intends to leave college to become a lady of leisure. But Adele's plans go up in smoke when she is made a star by a reality TV show. Meanwhile, Lindy is pushed too far by Ed's infidelities and kicks him out. Much to Natalie's horror, Ed makes himself at home in the Crouch household. Later, Lindy and Natalie decide to go on a girls' night out to a salsa class, while the boys stay in to watch a video. Unfortunately, they let Bailey choose the film...

Synopsis

The Crouches is a sitcom that aired on BBC One between 2003 and 2005, starring Rudolph Walker. Other main cast members were Robbie Gee and Jo Martin. Walker played Robbie Gee's father, and Mona Hammond, who played Jo's mother. The show was not well received by critics and only two series were made. It ratings were moderate, attracting an average of 3 million viewers. Childhood sweethearts Roly Crouch and Natalie have been married for 18 years. Roly works at for the London Underground at Lambeth North as a Station Assistant. Roly has two best mates, Ed and Bailey. Bailey, who is portrayed by Don Warrington is his boss, and Ed, who is portrayed by Danny John-Jules is also a station assistant. Ed is married to Lindy. Their relationship is rocky, and even when Lindy chucks him out of the house at times, he still thinks that she loves him and that it is her way of expressing her love to him. Natalie used to be in a rap duo with best mate Lindy, who is portrayed by Llewella Gideon, called "Bun and Cheese". Nat said they wanted to be Britain's answer to Salt-n-Pepa, but their musical career didn't take off despite Roly's support. She now manages a discount store in Elephant and Castle Shopping Centre and longs for some sophistication in her life.

rhonda-ferry Full of humour without a chip on its shoulder, a few stereotypes but great fun. Rudolph Walker and Don Warrington are hysterical, some of the plots are a bit corny but its a fun sitcom and not meant to be taken seriously. I watched it on the box about the same time I started working for the Underground and 3 of the main characters work there. I bought the DVDs a couple of years back. A couple of now well-known faces like Danny John-Jules, Jimmy Akingbola and Mona Hammond. I have to say, despite another reviewer's bad write-up, I really enjoyed it. Robbie Gee is the cheeky chappie everybody loves although they don't show it! Give it a go!
TheFilmHoarder I live in the United States, so I never had the opportunity to watch this show when it first aired. But let me assure you that all of the negative press and all of the on-line bashing is totally unwarranted. I think that some people who have reviewed this show are so used to seeing the same stereotypical images that permeate Western culture, they just couldn't except that some Black families are normal and not over the top when it comes to TV comedy. I promise you that you will enjoy this show. This show is the funniest thing to come around in decades. There is nothing like it on U.S. television, and it's a shame that I had to wait until 8 years after this show aired to experience the comedic genius of its cast and guest-stars. Find it on DVD if you can, and get ready to die laughing.
liammurphy1 This sitcom is one of the first all black sitcoms in Britain a kind of UK equivilent to 'The cosby show'. The acting from Rudolph Walker (Eastenders,the thin Blue line) and Mona Hammond (Eastenders,Babyfather) is great and they're very talented actors - The rest of the cast are down right terrible especially Jo Martin as Natalie Crouch who could easily take on Liz Hurley as the worst British Actress in our generation, But more importantly the jokes just aren't funny! This could easily have been a Family sitcom if it weren't for countless F-WORDS and sexual inuendo which adds nothing to the show expect perhaps moving it to 10.30 at night when most people are in bedAvoid this sitcom and watch the hilarious 'My Family' instead6/10
