EP1 The Rise and Fall of Jim Feb 06, 1996

While playing basketball with Roy, Jim sees a baby that's about to be hit by a car so he rushes to save it -- resulting in press coverage for his heroic deed that's seen by a sinister agent. So when Jim appears at open mic night at a local bar, the agent arrives with contract in hand and turns Jim into an overnight celebrity. Jim gets a big head (so to speak), so Roy peruses the contract and discovers Jim has actually sold his soul to the devil. Madelyn and Roy make a deal with the prince of darkness. Can they beat an American Gladiators-style contest in Hell?

EP2 Return of the Spider Feb 13, 1996

During a lunch with the human anomalies group, Chin reveals that he's been plagued by nightmares, so Jim suggests that he goes to China to confront his demons. Shortly after arriving, Chin vanishes on Jim and Roy, so they go into a bar looking for him, but instead discover his father. Meanwhile, Chin has been hypnotized by the evil Mr. Chang, his former captor, who makes Chin fight in a freakshow as The Spider. When they catch a commercial with Chin for an upcoming battle to the death, it's up to Jim, Roy and Chin's father (the original Spider) to save him.

EP3 The Taste of Romance Feb 20, 1996

EP4 Legend Of The Blues Mar 05, 1996

Jim awakens to find that his already gigantic head has grown even larger -- so large, in fact, that it's wedged in the four corners of his bedroom ceiling. A visit from Dr. Axel results in the draining of a green ooze from Jim's brain and a prescription for a stress free vacation. Jim, Roy, Ivan, Ray and Dr. Axel head out on a fishing trip to find the legendary giant blue fish. Shortly after their departure on the water, the gas tank gets punctured and the boat explodes, leaving them stranded on a remote island. Soon Axel and Ivan are kidnapped by an evil old man who breeds the blue fish... and they discover that the fish live off of human flesh.

EP5 The Bad Seed Mar 12, 1996

An alien bearing a great resemblance to Roy breeched “the security of Technology Incorporated Laboratories and absconded with a container of dangerous experimental energy” (or anti-matter). Pasquale Mendoza alerts Jim and Roy to these events when he comes knocking, assuming that it was Roy who was responsible for the theft… but soon Jim and Roy spot another man with an unusually large cranium – which contains Roy’s baby brother, Mark. Mark is supposed to deliver the anti-matter to a race of nasty, green, humanistic aliens who need the substance for fuel, but a botched transaction on the moon leaves Roy as a hostage to the nasty aliens.

EP6 Rats Mar 19, 1996

Tmyakal To say that "the Head" was my favorite show during its actual television run would be an overstatement. I watched it as frequently as I could, but missing it wouldn't mean heartbreak. The series is about a man named Jim trying to find love and friendship in New York City. The only thing is, an alien encounter left him with a massive head playing home to an alien named Roy. Season one (Which, unfortunately, is the entire show) follows Roy and Jim as they work together to stop an alien invasion from a parasitic species bent on the domination of Earth. The artistic style seems simplistic and gritty, but definitely has a certain compelling quality to it. The characters move awkwardly and unrealistically, but it's forgivable when you consider it's a show about freaks that was first aired as a segment on a show called "Oddities." Eric Fogel and Ray Kosarin do some downright incredible things with perspective to give every scene a very fresh and interesting feel. And the characters themselves are all well-designed and fascinating to look at.The story is a little weak and predictable. The usual alien invasion bit with meddling federal agents and a mad scientist. But it has its own quirks to liven it up. And the characters were all fascinating. Unfortunately, since it was such an action-oriented plot, most of Jim's friends seemed underdeveloped and two-dimensional, and Jim himself seemed like a generic Everyman sort, but his alien, Roy, had a distinct and enjoyable personality. And Dr. Elliot is one of the few mad scientists to have a clear background that shows why he is who he is. He's honestly among the most enjoyable villains I've ever seen.Ultimately it's the jokes that make the show. There are some decent puns, but it's mostly the dead-pan sort of stuff that seems incredibly popular in this, the Family Guy era."The Head" was a great show if you were into it, but it definitely wasn't for everybody.
hellophil I remember I loved this show, it was definitely unique and kept you watching each week - I rarely missed an episode. I'm not sure why a lot of the MTV animation went away, I guess it wasn't making enough money or something. If this series came out on DVD I would purchase it in a heartbeat. I liked a lot of the animation, of course, Beavis and Butthead, some Daria, some Aeon Flux, but The Head was the one that kept me coming back time and time again. However, I am looking forward to seeing the big screen adaptation of Aeon Flux. Charlize is a hottie, but she is also a great actress, and I can't think of a movie out there that she's been in that wasn't really good. Most every picture she's shown up in has been better because of her presence. I wonder who would star in The Head ...
MisterWhiplash I actually liked this show when it was on MTV (it atctually made MTV watchable again) because it is weird yet funny and cool. Only the first season though (the first 13 episodes that were later made into a video) is watchable. In which a regular guy named Jim starts to get very odd- his head is very very large and is holding an alien named Roy (which is short for some jubberish) who has come to Earth to stop another alien named Gork from destroying the world. Very odd, but usually funny in a crude way, especially when looking at the other freaks on the show (a guy with 5 ft. arms, one with a mouth in his stomach, another with a blade stuck in his head, another that looks like a rat, one woman with a dark secret with a tale and a guy who has a fishbowl in his mouth). A+
Lunchbox-3 Lasted 2 seasons, the 1st collected on video and not sure about the 2nd. The first season was a complete story about the aliens' takeover attempt of Earth, Jim's befriending of the "Human Anomalies" club, and the race to assemble the Anti-Invasion device to save the world. 2nd season went downhill a little going episodic, exploring the origins of the other anomalies besides Jim, but still provided some swell prime-time adult animation and laughs. Too bad it was cancelled, as with all of MTV's best animated stuff.
